He could play after NBA retirement. Chase Budinger did that and played volleyball in Olympics.
Budinger was a highly accomplished volleyball player in HS and college though (All-American I believe). He just happened to be good enough to crack the NBA and obviously pursued that route for as long as possible and make as much money as possible. Then he went back to his real passion of volleyball after a successful stint in the NBA.
Obviously my point isn’t that Wemby couldn’t be an elite volleyball player right now, but it’s a bit of a different scenario.
