The frustrating thing is that it’s mostly men who don’t take men in abusive situations seriously. This entire thread is mostly jokes. Always some “he’s lucky” “I can fix her” “this guy is soft” bs

It is understandable for people to have more fear when it comes to men since they are bigger but it doesn’t mean death threats or violence from women can’t be scary or something that’s not meant to be taken seriously. Like anybody can use weapons.

We’ve normalized the inequalities in genders. Man beats his wife? Bury him. Woman beats her husband? He’s weak.

Man tears up his girlfriend clothes? Shame. Woman tears up her man’s clothes? Future song lyrics.

Man rapes child? Rape. Woman rapes child? “Damn what’s her number? I’d loved that…”

It’s weird how women aren’t taken seriously with these crimes and it’s usually related to perceived strengths and beauty

The same men making jokes about this would make jokes about women getting abused. It’s not like male abusers are almost ever held accountable.

If the genders were reversed the woman would likely be much worse off than the man. It’s completely reasonable to judge the 2 situations differently when we live in a patriarchy where men have systemic advantages over women, beyond the obvious physical differences.

Women are killed by men in DV situations every day. This article says she threatened him, but the only physical abuse detailed is the punches to the face. Presumably this woman is significantly weaker than him and he did not need to be hospitalized for major injuries, because that isn’t mentioned in the article.

When a woman attacks a man, the man rarely suffers anything more than minor injuries. When a man attacks a woman, she is likely to deal with significant harm or even death.

Yes, it’s possible for women to kill men. But it’s so unlikely that it’s not worth discussing when both the frequency and severity of attacks are overwhelmingly tilted towards men attacking women.
