The fact a clear call to murder the owner of the blazers gets upvoted hundreds of times on here is disgusting, and the council should be asked to condemn it or Dundon should relocate the team ASAP. The person who made this comment should not just be permanently banned from reddit, they belong in prison.

The state of Oregon was part of a group of states that got him to settle for $550 million once before when they sued his predatory car loan bullshit.

Extracting money from Dundon through litigation might be the only way to get his cheap ass to pay for anything.

Nope, you can call in any real estate professional to testify in court and they will tell you what is considered a first-class property. No real estate professional is going to lie in court and compromise their name and integrity. If you need $600M for improvements, you are not first class.

It’s only enforceable if they leave. If they’re arguing that Moda needs renovations to be a first-class arena, then the city can make it clear that that’s their responsibility and if they leave, they can be held to that.

The org has made it clear that they aren’t interested in good faith negotiations and threaten moving the team under the belief that the city has zero leverage. This is leverage.

Yeah it was super fucked up for someone to hold a gun to the teams head and force them to sign this contract, then later also hold a gun to Dundon’s head and force him to buy a team that had negotiated, agreed to, and signed this contract.

The bridge clause says it’s up to the Blazers to maintain a “first class” environment, not the city. And that the Blazers have to pay back anything the city invested into the Blazers if the Blazers ever leave.

The city has offered the money. Dundon isn’t satisfied. He wants this clause taken away because he’s a snake bitch who is moving the team regardless. I think he expected the city to not offer him the money he wanted and knows that if he signs the deal being offered he’s going to be stuck in Portland forever. He’s throwing in this additional obviously unreasonable demand to tank the deal.
