Mario Chalmers did a high dribble move and they called it a travel because both legs were off the floor at once. This then became a hop step and when he moved again it was a travel.

This is one of many reasons why you don’t compare players across eras. The rules & how they were interpreted for what’s acceptable are simply different.
NBA refs call travel when it’s not but they don’t call it even the player travels. It’s just how good the league is
Rules changes and referee leniency are why i can’t respect people who shame older legends. “Boo Bob Cousy couldn’t dribble with his left hand, is a plumber, and has worse handled than today’s G league players”.
Yes on one hand they are correct that skills are higher than ever today. However legends are rated based on how good they were based on their time. AND the game and rules were very different back then. Imagine if Cousy or Jordan could travel and double dribble like they can today. Sheesh! Imagine if Michael Jordan could offensive foul run into the offensive player with an elbow into the defenders face.

Kind of love it - Rafer was out there stunting on a team down by 20, under 90 seconds left. He was a victory cigar on that team, just came off the bench to wind the clock down. I respect the “don’t be a dick” turnover call.
