I think Curry could still start at 5’10 with his elite skillset.

If hes one foot tall it doesn’t really matter how dribbling works cuz someone either steps on or lands on him and he dies well before he gets to the NBA.

5’11-6’0 to be the minimum

Fred Van Vleet is 5’11” barefoot and was an All Star and was still a starter before his injury and probably will be next season too. His defense is better but the offense isn’t even close. Curry has a 3 point percentage better than Van Vleet’s FG percentage lol. So 5’11” is not the bare minimum if FVV can be an All Star and still a starter in the league at that height with that poor of an efficiency.

Yeah, people are clearly thinking about how short he can be while still being productive offensively.

But at some point opposing teams would just target him on every possession and score at an efficiency he can’t match.

For the people saying 5’7, i highly doubt he’d be a starter

I think he would have been out the league when he got injured at the start of his career. Part of the problem with the super short guys, it changes the team’s willingness to keep investing in you because the odds of success go down.

Isaiah Thomas was like 5’6” and an All-NBA player. He shot 36% from three at his peak. Steph shoots that same percentage out to 40 feet. The real question is, for a shooter with unlimited range, how bad can you make his defense and he still be playable. Steph is pretty strong and can get steals, and I think Yuki is what 5’7”? If you gave a guy unlimited shooting range, I think you can dabble in the 5’2”-5’5” range for a bench rotation guy. Its like having Kyle Korver, he still stretches defenses at that size because of the shooting threat, and there are power five guys who play big minutes at that size so it’s not inconceivable.

I mean, Julian champagne started in the finals for the spurs. 5’7” Steph curry would be a much worse defender, but still a significantly better offensive player. Even with the loss of speed/strength/whatever.

And the bar isn’t starter for a contender. It’s just a starter at all. Is 5’7” Steph Curry worse than the worst starter on the Nets or Pelicans? I kinda doubt it.

Every other great had enormous gifts of size, athleticism and raw power that Curry didn’t have.

Most if not all of the NBA idols would suffer immensely at 6’. Kobe, Jordan, Lebron, Luka, Magic, Bird. They all relied on size to make it work. They would barely be in the league at 6”, if at all.

Not Curry, though. His skillet is perfect for a ‘shortie’. He would do almost the same damage in offense at any height.

It’s his defense that would suffer, as happens to a lot of great but short players. Yuki Kawamura is an incredible player, but at 5’11 and without godly athleticism is like he’s not even there when rivals shoot, no matter how well positioned he is.

For me Curry’s the most offensively skilled player ever, because he did it all without any overwhelming physical advantage (except for his super-human coordination).
