Isn’t it true that almost every NBA subreddit thinks their coach should be replaced?
I actually think he’s the reason for a lot of the Wolves’ issues. They have been a super up and down team, underperforming against bad teams for the last few years, and continually making the same late game mistakes. And I think a big reason for that is a lack of accountability. He has heen on the “refs are biased against us” thing since he got to Minnesota(he pulled it out in their first playoff series against Den where they lost 4-1), and it has clearly trickled down into the team with Ant regularly being near the lead for most techs year after year, Rudy being fined multiple times for comments and actions towards refs, McDaniels taking bad fouls in frustration, etc. I don’t mind a coach acknowledging poor reffing once in a while, but he does it constantly, and the team also falls into the same mindset, and it hurts their success.

He was fined in 2023, and last season for blatant criticisms. He complained about reffing in the first 2 Denver series, comolained about it against OKC 2 years ago, complained about it against San Antonio last year. Yes, it’s a constant thing with him.

I don’t disagree, entirely. I think this was a valid (and potentially calculated) crash out. Much like the other 29 fanbases in the NBA, I also think my team gets an awful whistle, and it’s supported at least by the lack of FTA’s for Ant relative to some of his peers.
But yeah — it’s also obvious that the Wolves have a sort of victim mentality about the way they’re officiated and it often results in sulking and frustration fouling. That part starts at the top, 100%. There’s been a lot of talk in the Wolves sub about the merits of just playing the same game as OKC, but right now the team just doesn’t seem to grasp the concept of ref-ball. Not trying to sound patronizing or whatever, it’s just clear that the best teams (OKC, DEN, even SAS) are leveraging the whistle and the Wolves haven’t tapped into that strategy, at all.
Nori gonna need all that strength to keep Ja and friends in line. They know Blazers won’t have his back with that trash contract.
