I always gave my best, that’s why i can say this with no regret. I am grateful to have been able to love this game and it love me back as much as it did. It wasn’t set up for me at any point in my career, and from high school, college, and the pros i humbly worked my butt off every day be the best that i could be. He wasn’t big enough to contend with real centers and was awful at rebounding, but he ran the pick and roll perfectly and was an incredible lob threat.

I remember Powell and JJ Barea were a lethal combo.

well none of that was true when he got re-signed.

he spent a lot of time in the D-League his rookie year, and then played 69 games, got a nice 4 year contract, played 77, 79, 77 games the next three years, before signing the big extension in question. then tore his achilles 6 months later and sucked after that. The tiny contract he signed four years after that was for less than double the minimum salary, so it’s not like it affected anything.

I’d say that’s the leading theory. We were also in the middle of that high turnover era with our front office where no vision was ever able to be realized. Went from process visionary Hinkie to hired-by-his-father Bryan Colanegelo to Elton Brand who ultimately made the Horford signing. Each of those guys only had the GM job for like 2 or 3 years
