Thunder vs Clippers 2014 WCSF Game 5: OKC comes back from down 7 with 50 seconds left to win
Still crazy to me that Reggie Jackson had both Westbrook and Durant with wide open lanes to the basket and decided to drive headfirst into the only defender in the area. It worked out in the end but he wanted to be the guy so bad.
It still pisses me off years later lol
This post doesn’t show it but I recall watching this game live and they kept of replaying that jackson turnover and even I thought it was out on him
He was really lucky the refs decided to give the thunder back the ball but it was really damn close
Not sure if this was his contract year but he was trying to get paid.
just triggered a deep memory when i watched that 😭
Will never understand the Clips valuing Crawford so much
Pre analytics basketball
Crawford is arguably the worst playoff performer in modern nba history maybe only behind derozan.
The clippers gave that clown so much run. Such a liability on both ends. And its insane he is spoken so highly by casuals
Edit
His playoff splits are 38/30/86 with a TS of 49%. His time on the clippers was atrocious.
He was also the worst defender in the league right there wirh derozan. This isnt an exaggeration.
He had no business playing over 10mpg for the clippers in those playoffs.
I actually feel bad for cp3 for never having a real wing beside him on clippers. Not even a one who could guard avg joe’s either. Crawford was getting fuckin 30mpg basically in the clipps playoff games while not playing a lick of defense. Terrible for cp3 goddam
Casuals see his flashy handle highlights and are impressed
He was a good player 😂.
Sure but he ain’t a bad player like u sayin 😂
1+1=quacks like a duck
Poser
Ad hominen because you know you wrong. Gg
No was just makin a pun off ur flair 😂
Ah fair, that is better lol
Doc Rivers.
Clippers had no SF and Doc loved him a three guard lineup.
On offense, they needed another ball handler when CP got locked up by a longer defender.
Doc should have operated through Blake with CP coming off ball but it’s not like I don’t think about Lob City everyday since …
That was a great shot he put up in this clip. Just couldn’t get it to fall
I remember watching this game, my roommate was a big Thunder fan and I was laughing at him that it was over and he was going crazy, and then this happened. Crazy. I remember thinking Doc Rivers was a bad leader for how he kept talking about “it was our ball’ after the game, as if that was the singular play that made them blow the game. Just another choke job notch in Doc Rivers’ resume. For the record I thought it was the wrong call at the time, but you’re up 7 with 50 seconds left, you gotta close the game out.
When westbrook could make free throws consistently. I remember being there
He had a routine he did but then they made a rule change. Guys are creatures of habit and need to be in the right mindset.
It was moreso the hand surgeries. Hes had a bunch of them over the years, and each one just took a little more of his touch away. It’s why his middy left him, and his handle got looser over the years as well
this was an insane meltdown at the time. didn’t see LAC knocking off SA but Chris Paul’s last 50 seconds has to be the worst 50 seconds of his career. it’s like his brain went into hypercompetitive overdrive and completely melted
what’s even crazier is that OKC blew a 15 point lead in game 4 and it goes completely forgotten cause of this game
He had a history of late game meltdowns with LAC.
Crawford taking the shot before KDs layup is absolutely the wrong move as well
I thought the same when I saw him wave off Paul, but he got a great look. Just didn’t go down.
Classic Doc Rivers thing
The way this Clippers team just used to find ways to lose games truly needed to be studied. Outside of Durant hitting that insane 3, the Clippers just gave this game away with bad decision after bad decision. Really makes you wonder how this era goes with an actual coach on the bench instead of Doc Rivers.
Mentally weak team
Chris Paul with 2 turnovers and a 3 point shooting foul in the last minute
The Josh Smith game was the worst. Really made it feel the Clippers as a franchise were cursed to never reach the WCF.
I miss this OKC squad…
We all fucked with this OKC squad. Every fanbase at least had legit respect for them
They were awesome, I wish KD & Russ could’ve won one together cause statistically they were one of the greatest duo’s of all time but have nothing to show for it
I don’t.
I get it - they sent Tim Duncan to a retirement community.
Tim Duncan’s last game being in OKC will never fail to make me laugh.
I also respect the way he went out fwiw.
Chris Paul’s turnover - was he… was he trying to get fouled in the act of shooting a full-court shot?
He’d often do that when opponents were forced to foul him late in the game, hoisting up some wild shot just as they made contact.
But the refs never gave him the call, and I’m pretty sure this was the last time he tried it.
Look at my boy Russ, all over the court giving his all and winning us the game🥹
Come home my king, it’s time
man i know KD gets a lot of hate today but OKC durant was special man lol
Well that’s part of the reason he gets so much hate.
You close out on a 3 pointer from anyone with that much time left in a close playoff game, doesn’t matter who it is. He just shouldn’t have been playing him that close
The crawford possession is bad because you shouldn’t be attacking the glass when you have this lead. The clock is on your side and the worst case is the thunder scoring on without burning any clock like they did.
He missed a wide open layup that rimmed out, seems fine
I said attacking the glass, not the rim. His shot was fine, other clippers should all be rushing back
Wasn’t really wide open. He took a terrible angle to put it up. So it looked open but no chance that was going in.
The turnover and foul on back to back possessions by CP3 were awful. He might have been fouled idk but why are you contesting Westrbrick 3?
Westbrook
CP3.
Ahh yes welcome to my life as a Clippers fan.
It wasn’t the first time this happens.
And it for sure won’t be the last
Between the turnover, foul and last turnover, CP3 sold here bad.

Cus they barely had 3 seasons together and they were not fully matured while facing LeBron Wade and Bosh in their primes?
Yet they had less problems with reigning champ Mavs, Kobe Lakers, and the dynasty Spurs.
I was still in my prime Bron hating days and I was convinced that Thunder team was going to sweep the Heat. Had me punching the air in games 2-5
Because Westbrook and Harden don’t win anything in the playoffs.
I was at this game and leaving it was crazy, people were on such an emotional high.
It’s insane that the clippers kept doc for another 5 more seasons after this
i had to change my relationship with basketball after this one. the depression was no joke. now i don’t take it as seriously, because as a clipper fan its not healthy.
Of course it’s Doc lol
Another Doc Rivers choke job…
What I lvoed about Westbrook is that he always took it like a madman against those who were supposed to be top dogs. Sometimes to his detriment obviously.
But in that series, he overpowered, outwilled and outclassed CP3.
Saw Docs stupid fucking face and was instantly filled with anger and rage
You love to see a dirty flopping grifter like Chris Paul lose. It just puts a smile on my face
i’ll never forget this game, big time Clippers hater - watching this was like Christmas
This was my first playoffs as a new basketball fan. To be a Thunder fan during this era was as fantastic as it was painful. When they were on they were fucking on.
This was the first NBA game I attended in person. Set the bar quite high
I don’t like this clip, lol.
I remember vividly where I was when I was watching this and yelling WTF IS JAMAL CRAWFORD DOING. the whole sequence of blowups occurs after he takes a terrible layup while ISOing for the whole shot clock
Westbrook making 3 free throws I the row
Cp3 tends to get too much shit for his lack of a ring and career overall.
This game though, this one was horrific.
Hate how Doc gets hate for this. Clippers made mistakes down the stretch it happens 🤷🏾♂️
Man, Durant had such a chance of being a top top player of all time. He just flushed it away with the GSW move.
