For me the most impressive thing about LeBron is how he keeps his body healthy. You would think his knees/legs would be absolutely cooked after this much basketball. He’s basically played his entire life.

KD basically had 2 career ending injuries, despite a failed jones fracture surgery he had to get another one so that’s basically 3 major surgeries and he’s still playing all nba level on BOTH ends. His longevity is the greatest we’ve ever seen and probably will see by an athlete ever

I fully believe KD will likely be the oldest active player in NBA history when it’s all said and done barring catastrophic injury. His game is so well rounded that he can easily find ways to contribute as a low-volume player as he gets older, plus he literally has no interests outside of basketball.

That said, he just has too many missed games to reasonably have a chance to catch up to Lebron’s counting stats.

LeBron also spent more time in the crazy 2000s when star players regularly averaged over 40 MPG. Anyway, I’m sure even the players would say 40 minutes in another era with less pace and space isn’t equivalent to 40 minutes today.

Fwiw their regular season totals over those same stretches are very close. KD has 44077 minutes and LeBron had 44298. Over the same stretch LeBron had 31038 points and KD has 32597 points. If KD was healthier in his career there’s a real shot that LeBron’s points record wouldn’t really be viewed as all that safe.
