[Highlight] 38-year-old Rick Mahorn keeps pulling the chair on Patrick Ewing.
December 18th, 1996
pulling the chair is lowkey one of my favorite moves in the game

Imagine if they called travels like that now
What’s a “travel”?
I also forgot what a travel even is supposed to be
They’d call a foul on Mahorn. It’s like there’s no concept of an offensive player falling down unless the defender fouled him.
What you mean travel? The flight is after the game…
They do in the WNBA
Been watching the last 2 seasons, and the refs seem to be almost sticklers for traveling. Don’t know why its different.
NBA values offense and flash. Give me fundamentals!!!
Rick Mahorn? The car salesman actor?
You mean the noted theater actor?
Yes Quick Rick Mahorn in Dearborn
He making ALL THE FIXINS
“Bulllllllllll shit!”
Avg 20 turnovers a game? yikes
To be fair back then you could just punch your man in the face and take the ball.
NBA Jam was basically real life, except they still went 5 on 5. Also the ball may not have smoked, but it was already pretty smoky in those arenas.
I love it
Even Oakley doesn’t want to start shit with Mahorn.
The smack-off would be hilarious

The feel and timing you need to pull this off is elite. You have to know your opponent better than their momma and you have to know it in game speed with your how your body is positioned. Highly underrated skill.
Overanalyzing
Yeah everyone should just comment one word as to not burden u/blucke with reading 2 sentences about the video they just watched. Too much analysis here
The issue obviously wasn’t its length, it’s simply reading too far into something that isn’t that deep.
I don’t think they were that deep, it seems you just aren’t impressed by the video
Of course I am, same why I’m impressed by most things NBA players do? Not sure why you think something can’t be impressive while not very complicated
Yes it’s not that complicated, and the comment you replied to was not a deep or complicated analysis of the video. So where is the over analyzing you mentioned
Wow, I watched a lot of games in ‘96 but I do not remember those Knicks uniforms at all.
both are having retro/classic uniforms
Can someone explain why the pistons are wearing their blue aways while the court is the teal era? Was this just a on off game?
She rick on my mahorn til I pull the chair

Always thought Pat Ewing was overrated. There’s still people out there that have him above Brunson on the all time Knicks list.
All-time rankings aren’t just based on what happened last month.
Ewing 15 seasons vs Brunson 4.
Ewing is ahead in pretty much any scenario except the one where Brunson was MVP and Finals MVP all 4 years.
Ewing has the longevity, but as a guy who watched Ewing, the thing that I think elevates Brunson is his excellence in the playoffs and in the clutch. Pat just never had a 4 year playoff run anywhere near as good as what Brunson just had.
You can argue Ewing because of the longevity for now, but by the time he retires, Brunson will very likely be ahead of him on virtually anyone’s list.
And Ewing never won anything. Always labeled as soft. Brunson has already done more for that franchise in a lot less time. Brunson > Ewing.
“Always labeled as soft”. I watched him in the 90s and didn’t hear any of this. Seemed like he was dragging his broken body up the court sometimes. I doubt even his critics thought he was soft. Did you get your opinion from Bill Simmons’ book?
A team wins a championship, not a player. Ewing had to go against michael Jordan every year in the playoffs. His career is very well rounded, just because Brunson has a championship doesn’t mean he’s a better player yet
I mean if it’s a debate on greatness doesn’t 4 seasons and 1 FMVP clear 15 seasons and 2 finals appearances? I’m not arguing on longevity or stats just accolades as a Knick. Granted, Ewing does have a ton more All NBA and All stars and All defense. Personally Ewing is above Brunson for me all those combined but it’s not a non argument like other people are saying.
No.
I mean if that’s the ONLY metric you use then sure. But Ewing is an 11 time all star, rookie of the year, 2 time gold medalist, the Knicks all time leading scorer, and in the hall of fame.
If Brunson retires today the Knicks retire his Jersey but he does not make it to the hall of fame
I don’t usually pull this card but I feel like this can only be the opinion of someone who is like younger than 16 and is far removed from Ewings career. Brunson could surpass the legacy in time but he hasn’t yet.
I always disregard/ignore younger ppl when they talk about players before their time
Eh, I caught the last 4ish years of Ewing’s prime. He was a great player who had a wonderful career, but he didn’t have the clutch gene that Jalen has and he just wasn’t the incredible playoff scorer that Jalen is. It’s also hard to look past how much better Brunson was in his Finals appearance compared to Pat (who couldn’t hit a big shot all series and was badly outplayed by Hakeem) in his.
Patrick has an argument based on longevity, but I would personally put Brunson ahead of him right now. Either way, Brunson is very likely to surpass him on most lists by the time he retires.
Outplayed by Hakeem, the best center of the modern era. Yea what a hit Ewing. Not even hating on Brunson cuz he’s absolutely a winning player but cmon man he’s got a way to go
He wasn’t overrated at all but he also wasn’t the playoff killer that Brunson is.
Both things can be true
