2006 NBA Finals Game 6 last 3 minutes: Miami barely closes out Dallas to win their first championship
96 freethrows in 6 games
8 year old SGA watched this and found what he wants to do when he grows up.
“ The Lakers shot 27 free throws in the fourth quarter alone (making 21), compared to just 9 free throws for the Kings (making 7). Shaquille O’Neal shot 17 free throws total for the game (including 10 in the fourth quarter), while entire key Kings starters like Chris Webber shot zero free throws and Mike Bibby shot only two all night. Kings center Vlade Divac and backup Scot Pollard both fouled out late in the contest, forcing a heavily lopsided physical advantage down the stretch.”
yeah that series was also bullshit
Not a laker defender but go look at game 5 of that series. Shaq shot one ft all game
Go look at game 4 which was also heavily rigged for the lakers
The game the kings blew a 25 pt lead. Also game 4 FTAs -27 for Lakers. 26 for kings. Also kings shot 16-30 from ft in game 7……
And the refs counted samaki walkers 3 pointer AFTER the buzzer lmfao.
Man just stop defending rigged series
How can it can be rigged when a team blows a 25 pt lead??? Or a team shooting 50% from ft at HOME in a game 7. Maybe if Lakers shot 50% on their FTS in game 6 people wouldn’t say it was rigged….
Most underrated aspect of this is Wade only being in his 3rd year. He averaged like 35 those finals
For about one year, wade was considered the best player in the world.
He had an argument from like 06-09.
His 09 season is still one of the greatest individual seasons anyone has ever had. Just sucks that it ended with an injury (story of his career).
i thought that was 2011
Nobody was saying that in 2011
People were saying he was better than LeBron at the end of the finals. But Dirk was getting the nod for being the best player.
It’s impressive but he also averaged over 16 ft a game
It’s impressive that he averaged 16 ft a game. I was a big Mavs fan, but Wade was relentless.
best slasher in the league shot lots of free throws against a team with a big man rotation of cone Dirk and foul machines Erick Dampier and Desagna Diop how shocking
He cooked the Pistons’ legendary defense a round earlier only taking 8 fts/game.
Teams literally just couldn’t stay in front of him.
Yeah because they couldn’t figure out a way to stop him so they kept fouling lmao. They won 4 games in a row 20 years ago. Dallas couldn’t figure it out. Let it go already.
Both can be true, Wade definitely got fouled 80% of times but there were definitely some phantomass ones, like the two consecutive offball ones in G5 Q3 when Dallas were on a run.
There were 2 or 3 bad calls, dallas still couldnt figure it out after 4 games and people try to take away and undermine the performance and the ring every single time the topic is mentioned.
I mean the games were literally split by a possession in G3, G5 and G6. Kind of wild to say they couldn’t figure them out. If they lost by 10-20 every game, sure…
It was a pretty tight series and I don’t think it was blatantly made for Heat, but calls were definitely 60:40 in favor of Miami.
I’m not a fan of either team so I’m just going off how I feel as a neutral.
People were complaining about the bad calls back then too. I don’t really care now just stating a fact
Pat Reilly has consistently given Miami residents great ball, but yet they don’t understand the game after 30 years
Wades first 3 seasons were all time. He was the best playoff player in 05 and 06. He was blowing past his draft class until injuries took root the next year.
That is a weak foul call in an nba finals game
Should also watch the final foul in G5 lol
Stars have always gotten good whistles. People just wax poetically about how tough and ethical the game was back in the day, but the same shit was going on back then as now
Oh man the shitstorm around Wade’s whistle in that finals was insane
Couldn’t watch anything from this season for years because of how much losing the finals sucked, but after 2011, it’s been a lot easier to relive the 2006 season. That game 7 win at SA is one of the most important in franchise history and probably the second most important series wins in the franchises history as well (2011 Miami being #1)
Amazing Dallas took it to six despite playing 5 on 8
Imagine a player shooting 16 Fts a game with the refs extending the series and still scraping by
A few were intentional fouls. Called well fouls against Miami on the other end
Skill issue.
I don’t care about the “WELL POINT OUT WHICH ARENT FOULS” arguments because 1. thats not how it works, dallas didnt get the same respect and 2. It’s the finals so much of that shit was soft. We see so many guys who get those calls all season long not get them in the playoffs, yet in the finals Wade gets like double his FTA average from the first 3 rounds??? Nahhh
beep boop
Suck on wades nuts
Dirk just shoulder checking wade because he is gased and can’t move is what makes you all upset like that ?
Yeah I rewatched it and Dirk isn’t even in defensive position. Like if he was knees bent and wade had dribbled into him then maybe 🤣
Also 6 FTA in this clip were from intentional fouls
Young Spo at 3:20
Then Dallas hired RC.
That was such a good look by Terry, just in and out too.
I recently rewatched a few of those 06 games, Terry was absolutely crazy
You can see why Haslem has so much respect in the org to this day just seeing some of those plays down the stretch
I will never forget this moment. I was a child back then and I remember my family going crazy, everyone went out with pots and pans and it was an amazing atmosphere.
I guess Jerry Stackhouse, Devin Harris, M. Daniels or Josh Howard was suppose to stop Prime Wade.
I wish I could find those Dwade converse now
UD was a dawg
My glorious king Dwyane Wade, how I miss thee. Became an all time legend that night and one of the most dominant finals performances in nba history
Quite impressive that the Mavs were able to make a Finals run with checks notes DeSagana Diop as your starting center
Zebras FMVP
Hearing Haslem being called a young man got me
Completely forgot White Chocolate was on that Heat team
Where is Luka?
Well well look what I’ve been blessed with on my feed today
