Where are you getting that number? Because play by play data for the entire NBA only goes back to 1997, and you need that to calculate RAPM for each player. I know the sixers had a stats guy that did play by play before that, but the best that can give you is on/off stats for Barkley, not RAPM, due to missing all the other teams.

I saw both of their entire careers and I’d take Barkley over Malone.

Malone had better longevity. So maybe you take him for his entire career, because he always kept himself in great shape where as Barkley has obviously had weight issues. But for one game, one series, or even one season, I’d take Barkley at his peak over Malone at his peak.

I’m down to pretend Malone just doesn’t exist and he never gets discussed historically, unless it’s to say, “who was that guy Stockton was dishing to? Can’t place the name. Oh, well”.

I think there’s a much better case for Malone not being a top 5 power forward of all time than there is for him being better than Garnett

Jordan’s the GOAT, and I’ll be saying that even if LeBron wins a ring in Philly. So I’m not taking anything away from Jordan.

But this notion that all these players didn’t win simply because of Jordan is bullshit. MJ did beat Malone twice in the Finals, sure. But what about every other year of his 19 year career? Malone lost to the Warriors twice, you don’t say Chris Mullin is the reason he didn’t get a ring. He lost to the early ‘90s Blazers twice. You don’t say Drexler is the reason he didn’t get a ring. He lost to the Rockets twice, you don’t say Olajuwon is the reason he didn’t get a ring. They lost to the Sonics twice, you don’t say Payton and Kemp are the reason Stockton and Malone didn’t get a ring. They lost to the Jail Blazers twice, you don’t say Rasheed Wallace is the reason they didn’t get a ring. They lost to the Kings twice, you don’t say Webber is the reason they didn’t get a ring. But the two seasons they played Jordan in the playoffs, that’s the only reason they were never champions.

One exception is his 3 point percentage. He would have had an even higher TS if he didn’t take so many off the dribble 3s, which I think analytics would have actually told him to stop taking (ironic since today usually you want to increase 3 pointers but he had this reverse thing where you wanted more rim and midrange attemtps and fewer 3s). I believe he has the lowest 3 point percentage of anyone with like 2000 attempts or so, something like that, which is funny also since these days he complains about some players taking too many 3s when he did that back in the day.

Yes dude. They really fucked that one up - great draft class. Besides Daughterty and Bias, you had Mark Price, Rodman, Ron Harper, Sabonis, Dell Curry, Chuck Person.

And it can’t be stressed enough that Moses was Chuck’s mentor, too - it wasn’t just another All Star player. Not to mention the guy had just led them to the Title a few years earlier; doesn’t exactly put a lot of confidence in your organization when your next superstar is seeing how the last one is treated only a few years out from winning it all for them while being the best player on earth.
