LeBron James putting in offseason work ahead of season 24 with the 76ers
24 seasons is absurd
The craziest part is that LeBron has almost played four additional seasons worth of basketball in the post season. 302 post season games.
The 8500 playoff points record is almost as crazy as the 43k points to me, given he broke Jordan’s 5900 in the 2017 playoffs.
KD just hit 5k and he’s 38. Tatum is closest to keeping pace with him, he has as 2.9k points at 27 and Bron had 3.3k. But Bron made 7 Finals in his next 8 seasons AFTER being on record setting pace lol
That playoff stat is even more unbreakable than his regular season scoring record.
You not only have to start young, you have to be good and do that for over 2 decades going far into the post-season to accumulate those points, let alone doing it against teams that are actively scheming against you.
Brunson had 539 points in the 26 playoffs
It would take 15.8 runs of that to reach 8500 points. Only 4 players in history has even gotten 16 all star selections or more. That’s how durable normal players are
Holy shit.
Future generations will assume he was hunting buckets, not realizing that scoring was usually his 2nd or 3rd preference
Idk man. I think his reputation will always be more that he could play every position as well as Magic and was the marquee player on 10 teams that made the finals. Kobe couldn’t do that. Kareem and Jordan couldn’t do that. His villain arc in Miami will be lost in time. His savior arc in Cleveland will be underscored by leaving for Space Jam 2. He’s like the Beatles or Star Wars or Messi… it’s something so big it becomes ubiquitous, and there’s nothing significant left to opine or argue
Bro that last tidbit is sending me. Absolutely insane. We really do take this man for granted.
LeBrons played nearly 50% more playoff minutes alone than Darko played in his whole career

Being able to shift the balance of power in nba contenders in your 24th season is wild
Silver said it himself that the schedule was waiting on his decision
there’s nothing wrong with your comment but the TV schedule and what teams are nba contenders are not necessarily the same. see: warriors constantly on TV for no reason
Folks accusing him of ring chasing with a stacked deck.
He’s 42 years old. And his former team didnt want him. Couldn’t go back to LA. Fuck was he supposed to do? He saw how the Cavs went out sad like that in the ECF. He couldn’t go there either.
Lakers absolutely wanted him and would have jumped at the chance to sign him for a minimum.
It felt more like “meh, sure we’ll have you back at a minimum” but not “we want you back”. Lakers fans sure as hell didn’t want him, all they did was talk shit about him and how he was setting them back
The Lakers didn’t want him _at any cost_, but sure they’d have taken him at the minimum
The Lakers were going nowhere
Cavs could’ve been a LeBron away from beating that Knicks team last season but maybe I’m biased. They needed another wing and another player who could get their own especially when Mitchel and Harden were on their bullshit.
Also Cavs GM was an idiot for trading Deandre Hunter for Keon Ellis especially when you didn’t even play Ellis in the playoffs.
Lebron put up 23, 7 and 7 last year in the playoffs. I have no doubt they’ve would’ve pushed the Knicks to 7 at least with LeBron.
When you write out the starting 5 of Harden, Mitchell, Bron, Mobley, Jarett Allen… thats such a clunky fit. It feels like it would be Westbrook situation all over again w/ no spacing & a much older Bron
Perhaps LeBron doesn’t want to make Dan Gilbert any more money? F that guy
I had good information from someone in the know Gilbert agreed to sell him the team if he had the money when he returned to CLE.
Based on that conversation 10+ years ago, it sounds like even with a discounted price Lebron wont be getting a team. Fenway Sports are going to have to help him put together an ownership group with him putting up about 300M to be the principal and he is going to have buy someone out overtime.
Idk man they got swept
Analytically, they were a LeBron away from being in a reverse sweep
I legit think there is a psychological effect to going up against LeBron in an ECF or Finals matchup.
But now Harden is a year older. Coming off of another playoff clunker. That’s a heavy load for Lebron to carry.
idk man this team just doesn’t have the juice. on paper it looks sick but the rotation would be weird and there would never be enough shooting on the floor to take advantage of. also this team really lacks in perimeter defense and lebron doesn’t solve that
Why are you saying the Lakers didn’t want him? They absolutely did.
I think it’s funny how people are trying to downplay it too. He’s not a top 10 guy anymore, but he’s still an all-star. Him on a 4 million dollar deal is insane. Like it really does push the Sixers into the conversation for best team in the league.
Imagine being in the NBA for a couple seasons and your dad is recording a workout video for his socials because he is also in the NBA and a star
unanimously agreed to be better too 😭
Yall are fucking weird
Is Bronny supposed to be better than his dad? Like it’s some sort of embarrassing thing that he isn’t better than a player who is at worst the 2nd best player of all time?
It’s not weird to be worse than Lebron it’s the concept of being a 20 year old professional athlete and also your dad is in the same league as you and better that is bizarre to think about.
I think he might be the only person that can say that in history lol.
The only other pair I can think of RN is Ken Griffey sr and jr, but I don’t know enough about baseball to say who was better when they played together
Sr was good, but the kid was winning awards and getting MVP votes in his second year. Sr was a 3 time All-Star in 8 years, Jr was a three time All-Star by his fourth.
i’m “fucking weird” for making a joke about the oddity of having your dad be in the league and still be better than you? 😂 literally a 1⁄1 situation, chill tf out
His Laker career is better than Dame Lilliard’s entire career
I read a stat once that he has more all nba seasons than something like 95% of nba players total careers.
I am 31 I do not know a LeBronless NBA.
Pretty much same. 33 here. Old enough to remember him being on tv his high school senior year. I remember his team upsetting (I think it was a cali school not sure) a favorite on espn.
Le quarter century (close enough)
This could be a clip from like 4, or 8, or 14 years ago. Maybe he just posts the same workout clip every off-season.
Naw this definitely ain’t a clip from his heat or even his 2016 Cleveland days. He look mad skinny in this video compared to the past. Looks like he really trimmed some weight off since the last year or so which I don’t blame him because he can’t be banging with centers and power forwards in the post no more.
He’s a great play maker and passer so why not play the point guard which will help him be rested for the playoffs.
Eh, I think the modern PG role in the NBA is like the opposite of resting for the playoffs. If he wants to rest, he should just be an off-ball scorer.
During that late-season stretch with Luka and Reaves healthy, I think that was probably some of the easiest offense LeBron has ever had.
At least last season, it also felt like LeBron’s handles really, really declined. It was just really uncharacteristic carelessness. It also feels like he has been wanting to transition away from that since like 2020~2021 and maybe even earlier.
You would never in a million years have lebron be off-ball for that kind of roster. Having lebron at the 2 or 3 for a playoff run would be a death sentence for him at this age lol.
His handle is no longer tight enough to be fulltime no. 1 PG that’s just a basketball truth. He’ll be sharing it a lot with Maxey and at times Brown and Edgecombe in the reg season
That’s something I don’t think people who didn’t watch the Lakers nightly might not be aware of. His handle was sloppy and he couldn’t beat anyone off the dribble anymore. Maxey will have to be the primary ball handler .
Well he seems to want to run pg.
My number one impression is how is he so lean… How clean must he eat even in the off season!
He does post similar clips, but this LeBron is way more lean than the monster he was in Miami. Obviously that kind of size wasn’t sustainable into his late 30s and 40s.
He’s got old man strength now to balance it out. Needs to be leaner to keep his joints healthy
why tf would LeBron do this. 500 upvotes smh stupid ass
Ngl, it’s kind of hilarious how everyone under ur comment thought u were deadass serious Lmaooo
Yea wtf is going on lol.
You actually have almost 600 likes on this dumb ass comment. Really puts into perspective the kind of mfs on this app.
What I appreciate about these LeBron workout vids is how “light” his weights are. LeGevity.
Heavy weights would make no sense for someone who wants both strength and quickness. Unless you listen to reddit, which is full of guys are all the single most annoying guy at their local Planet Fitness.
This is a myth, just like people who say “I don’t want to lift in case I get too big”. Heavy compound movements are needed for quickness. He’s not going to be lifting heavy weights for shoulder exercises at his age, way too risky.
It’s crazy how people who just don’t have the mental fortitude to go to the gym and lift heavy weight just assume that it’s useless. Compound heavy movements coupled with light explosive movements is literally how you build strength and quickness.
Are you calling out Reddit or LeBron James?
If it’s the former, crack on king..
But I think I can say quite confidently that whatever the fuck routine LeBron is doing or weight he’s lifting, it’s the correct one…
‘Mental Fortitude’
It’s the truth. You can clown it if you want. But there’s so many people who make the excuse every day why they can’t exercise, whether it be time or whatever someone wants to pretend. The truth is they’re just too lazy and would rather do something easier and less taxing. If that’s not mental fortitude then I don’t know what is.
Yeah because a lot of sprinters avoid heavy weights don’t they…?
LeBron probably lifts light because the injury risk of lifting heavy for him isn’t worth it and because lifting heavy whilst practicing basketball the amount he does would be too fatiguing.
Research indicates that lifting light to failure causes more CNS fatigue than lifting heavy, in case anyone wants to learn about this stuff. I know starting a discussion about thr current science of S&C is stupid in r/nba so I won’t, but I’ll leave this here for anyone curious: https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/21311352/
Muscle Damage Recovery for different set dosages: https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/30036284/
That’s why he isn’t lifting to failure. With equal reps, lifting light is safer for his health
This is not the reason. There is no evidence that lifting lighter weights is better for quickness
This is also MONTHS out from the start of the season, he might just be getting back into it.
I wouldnt be surprised if he has just been swimming and doing yoga or some shit for the past 3 months to let his body rest.
Also how fucking weird their routines are. I know I’m just some dickhead and these guys are pro athletes but it’s always funny watching people do all this oddball shit and still be absolutel athletic freaks of nature.
Like this isn’t that weird, some funky T-Rex armed later raises, a bent over row and some crossed over pull over thing.
The one arm row while planking does seem hard as fuck though.
I remember looking at some of Dwight Howard’s workout routines and he was just doing some seemingly random movements with very light load/resistance
Yet the guy was built like a marvel superhero. Good and lucky genetics are a hell of an advantage
Usually outside of basketball their training is strength, mobility, and stability. A lot of those random movements are for mobility/stability.
Also once guys bulk up/hit their target weight it is wayyy easier to maintain without heavy weights.
Sure but Steph has like a 400lb deadlift so lets not pretend they dont use real weights.
NBA athletes cycle their workouts between focusing on adding bulk, improving their mobility to accommodate the muscle gain and in general move more smoothly. And finally stability to helps with raking impact, minimizing injuries (landing wrong, banging in the post), playing off balance at times.
For sure LeBron has hit some heavy Deadlift PR’a but at this point he’s basically at old man strength. Adding more muscle would hinder him.
Orange Theory makes me do those from time to time. I can do 10’s, super tough past that.
looks like Bron got 20’s.
Those look pretty light for 20s.
and he’s doing a bent over row with just the bar.
I think he’s more mobility/core than moving any actual weight in this video.
That form on your lateral raises is healthier for your shoulder joints than the traditional kind.
Did you see the one posted a while ago where he was balancing on a yoga ball while weight lifting? That one looked truly absurd to me
He’s a basketball player and he understands the kind of lifting that helps a basketball player. He’s also got way longer arms than most people have to deal with. Too many gym bros and serious lifters want to critique workouts that professional athletes do without understanding that their goals are different than theirs.
Not that you’ve said anything like that, just felt like an appropriate place to reply something tangential.
too many gym bros do zero mobility or cardio work, and are critiquing because they literally have no clue what he’s doing or why
You can lift heavy and do 4 reps or lift light and do 20. The difference is that lifting heavy is more time-efficient, but the risk of injuries is higher, while lifting light is better for focusing on technique and feeling the targeted muscles better, especially during the first few reps.
lifting heavy is more time-efficient
not true at all, considering the amount of rest needed between sets for heavy compound exercises
Lebron is in love with the Process, not just basketball. The training, the game tape, the strategy, the prep, the diet, weights, cardio all of it.
This is what makes him special IMO, to keep this same fire after 24 years, having lived up to and exceeded the hype, with nothing left to prove, he still loves the basic’s of it all.
It truly is remarkable IMO.
That’s why he’s the GOAT
I can’t even be consistent for 2 days, this guy has done it for 24 years. Crazy
Of course he loves the Process that’s why he came to play with Embiid
Yeah, the basic truth is that Bron loves being a basketball player. His dedication and mental fortitude is insurmountable.
Even more so since him being a basketball player continues to invite a tsunami of scrutiny and hate to his life, like no player has ever had experienced before and maybe never will for decades to come. Every accidental awkward glance from the sidelines spawns articles, TV segments and reels, laughing, belittling, demanding, insulting. It’s fucking tiresome to just look at coverage of him for a week, much less endure it a lifetime.
And yet he persists. And the worst you can say about his persona is him enjoying the spotlight and a few stupid China comments.

It’s insane that 10 years ago was the 3-1 comeback against the warriors….
Crazy you can say 20 years ago too
sixers this is for you
you think he ever gets bored of it
Of lifting? I’m sure he doesn’t find it exciting but it’s something he has to do to be able to play.
That’s like how it is for most gym goers. I didn’t love doing squats on Monday morning but you get some music going and groove
no, just of nba/training and the routine in general
He clearly loves to play the game. Training is just a part of what he needs to do to be able to do that. He’s about to start his 24th season. That’s pure love and dedication.
I don’t think anyone loves that but what he gets out of the process more than makes up for it
Feel like that’s a huge part of the mental side of any pro sport and why longevity is underappreciated. Takes an crazy amount of discipline to do this for anyone at any age, but to be a millionaire, 40+, already won rings, and still be able to diet and work out like this all year round is insane.
um billionaire
I think it’s just like eating breakfast for him. Part of the morning routine like everything else. Shit, shower, shave, eat, lift, eat, post on IG.
Jason Kelce talked about a conversation he had with Stoutland, and being told that one day you’ll wake up and just not want to do all prep, the off-season work, the testing etc to then get your body beat to shit for another season.
LeBron is almost there, but he’s not quite done. He’ll probably take a year off in 2028 and just be a “normal” dude for the first time in his life. Then he’ll get the itch again and play other sports for a bit in-between watching Bronny’s games.
Sort of happened to Isiah Thomas back in the day. He told an amusing anecdote in NBA Open Court that one day, he was just chilling in an hotel pool and just…didn’t want to go to practice because he felt so relaxed. He became checked out and wasn’t really into it and he thinks this led to his Achilles tear a few weeks later. I wouldn’t be surprised if he was half-assing his prep work and this made it more vulnerable to injuries.
At this point I’m pretty sure he’d be bored without it
that’s what usually ends careers for older athletes. i’ve seen multiple say they would love to keep playing, but each season you have to do all this working out in the offseason just to get ready to play again and it gets longer and longer the older you get, and after a while they just can’t mentally deal with the prep work to just play anymore.
it’s also why even non-catastrophic injuries will end careers, the recovery from the injury takes them out of the routine so long their bodies lock up and can’t get back to it.
Maybe, then he gets his paycheck
Stuff like this to him has to be like washing the dishes to us. Is it exciting no but we still so it daily.
You’re a borderline unique freak if routine physical training never bores you.
I wish my job was staying in shape. Would love to get paid to be healthy
It’s good for you even if you aren’t being paid, will save a lot of problems in the future by staying healthy and active
Problem is the dedication and effort doesn’t translate to a better salary
It translates to less costs related to health problems.
Yeah, exactly.
Health related costs are way more expensive for the unhealthy.
I mean it does translate to more energy and a clearer mind, which no doubt helps you perform better at pretty much any job you might have

LeBron’s attempt at strength and conditioning workouts in the gym is hilarious and shows me that just because you’re really good at a sport doesn’t mean you are now really good at everything. His squats are atrocious.
His trainer is a business partner he met in Cleveland as an Athletic Trainer. He taped his ankles lol. Now he pretends to know how to lift. It’s really just a business to sell supplements.
This man is going to turn 42 this December. Wtf?

I always wondered. Those weights he works out with aren’t that heavy. Is he into low intensity stuff. I mean the dude’s jacked. I just assumed he probably lifted heavier.

There’s a wall coming. It might not be this year but it will come. People don’t age linearly. You know how there’s a lot of aging that happens really quickly when you’re like 13-16? Same thing happens at some point in your 40’s, for everyone.

My teacher used to say, she would look like actresses if she was given the time and money to spend on her body as they did. Somehow I disagree with her. There are also dedication and discipline also. LeBron is showing everyone why he different.

It’s wild LeBron is never moving very heavy weight but he carries so much lean muscle even into his 40s
His work out are Hilarious. He def on something tho .
Sometimes I hate watching athletes workout. What is he even doing here? There’s no way any of this is actually pushing his limits or building anything. Rows with just a bar? Come on now.
