Russell Westbrook picks up one of the most iconic technical fouls of all time and chants to the crowd, “SEND THEIR ASS HOME,” as the Nuggets blow out the Clippers in Game 7 of the 2025 playoffs.
That was a great series to watch.
That Aaron Gordon tip in at the buzzer was some bullshit. I will die on the hill that the nuggets lose that series if he doesn’t make that shot.
Nuggets lose the series if they don’t win
ELI5
The team with the most points by the end of the game wins - Magic Johnson
Thanks Magic
Two points isn’t two points. It’s a lie. I’ll explain later
Dog we all watched the frames. He fucking made that shit
I’m pretty sure everyone came away with “we don’t know” so the call on the floor stood lol
It’s not debatable. You could see it clearly out of his hands.
You never actually could. The rim blocked the only frame and angle that that would be possible iirc
Unless you have a screenshot i didnt see
Chaz NBA on YouTube uploaded the sequence with all the replay angles. It’s pretty clear to see that it was in on time and out of his hands. Again not really debatable.
I’m watching it right now - which frame/timestamp shows that clearly?
There isn’t a freeze frame with the ball clearly out of his hands before the red lights, but it absolutely seems like it was out. It was the right call. That was the same playoffs they broke out the CIA cam for LeBron, where was that here? lol
You lack reading comprehension.
OP means “if AG doesn’t get the tip-in, the Nuggets would’ve lost the series”.
Cool of OP to send his spokesperson over to yap on his behalf.
Just take the L.
Pass, double it and give it to the next person you decide to be weird at.
Just like OG’s tip-in in the Finals this year…
You do not have to remind me about that bullshit man because I lost a decent amount of money on both of them shots.
Harper forgot to box out OG tho on that play
I lost a decent amount of money on both of them shots
Maybe make smarter decisions about where your money goes instead of incurring losses that still sting after an entire year
Nope I will continue being salty about those shots until I die because it was some bs
“Everything that doesn’t benefit me personally is BS “
People clown on the Kawhi era of the Clippers, but that team faced so many injuries and unfortunate circumstances. If they were completely healthy, the PG trade was a good trade
health is a factor when making trade decisions. it can’t be used as an excuse. it’s an attribute for a player just like any other.
The best ability is availability
I wish we’d bring him back!!! Come back Russ
Bro probably hates both the LA teams and he played for them
Feelings mutual
only good memory for me is that dunk on gobert lol
that was one of the nastiest dunks Ive ever seen. The frustration from that season helped fuel that shit
Everyone hates the Lakers. Worst fanbase in all of sports by far
Dog you gotta get out more. We ain’t close to the worst.
You are. The most annoying, delusional and toxic fanbase in all of sports. Even worse than the Philadelphia fans
Nah Philly is easily worse they just haven’t won as much. LA would be my #2 though by a mile.
Bro for one, that’s insane. The entire Northeast region exists. For two, flair up pussy.
The Lakers fanbase is equal to Indians who cheer for Real Madrid. Only casuals with zero knowledge who are loud and obnoxious.
Anyone else notice how, when you interact with someone who hates LA sports, it never takes more than 3 comments for them to say something racist?
Weak gotcha attempt. India has one of the largest foreign Real Madrid fanbases who are very loud on social media. That’s a factual reality and has nothing to do with racism. Get educated.
Ah yes, the one making the massive generalizations is the informed and nuanced one
Did you know that people actually live in LA too, and maybe that’s why they root for the Lakers?
maybe he shouldve tried when playing basketball instead of pulling a Washington Albert Haynesworth
Lakers really got swindled by him since he was on a max for them. I still don’t understand how they left him wide open in the bubble and dogged him during the playoffs, then turn around and trade for him the next season.
He had an insane 23/11/11 season on wiz. Lakers and lebron wanted a 3rd star badly after harden went to the nets and after lebron got embarrassed in rd 1 vs suns
LeGM + lazy Pelinka going “damn, here”
This truly is my greatest question. I understand they wanted a 3rd star - but to purposefully go out and get the guy you just absolutely blasted and game planned away is unbelievable.
I am the biggest westbrick critic but the problem was never just that he didn’t try his best.
It’s not Westbrooks fault he can’t shoot. Oh wait, it is.
He could shoot that series against us. Of all the fucking times he missed…..
Funny coming from a Knicks fan since Westbrook always beat your ass in his prime. He put on a show in the mecca every time. Unappreciative ass.
Chill out Russell. It was a joke.
Westbrick has more fans banned than anyone else
I never once thought Westbrook had effort issues, but I’m not going to claim to have watched a lot of his games on either team. Was that actually a thing? He always seemed like a guy that would give 110% even if his body couldn’t keep up anymore.
That’s a myth more than it is reality. Westbrook gets the 110% effort reputation because his highlights showing him sprinting and dunking hard all the time.
If he just had great effort and motor, he’d do the same on defense and off ball but he’s lazy as fuck in those situations. He’s like Melo. Amazing motor when it comes to scoring himself and accumulating stats, gives minimal effort when he’s not directly involved in the play
He gives the most fake “hustle” I’ve ever seen idk how he got that reputation. In reality he’s completely out of control on both sides of the ball, moving like a bull in a china shop. He also refuses to move off ball and that goes on both sides of the floor, because if his man doesn’t have the ball on defense he can’t be bothered to chase after him until he gets the ball and then he goes sprinting full speed at his wide open man
Idc if he’s from LA nobody fucks with him here, had a horrible fucking attitude the entire time on top of his dog shit play
He had 1.5 bad seasons for the Lakers at the age of 33⁄34 and every Lakers fan talks about him like he isn’t a HOF lock. You don’t know how he got a reputation for hustle? How long have you been watching him play?
Exactly imfao
Ass take from a casual. Lakers fans proving again and again why they’re the absolute worst fanbase in all of sports.
Only Lakers fans will tell you otherwise and maybe deserved although he did have a lot of pressure on him with AD and LeBron constantly being injured or load managing. Those 3 barely played together. Defensively, he was never really great in the past but he’s became a lot better when his role diminished and is one of the better iso defenders.
He gives 110% on dunks not the entire game
What issues were there with the Clippers lol?
None, he had to play a playoff series solo because Kawhi and PG were injured and he did great. Then Harden arrived and he was relegated to the bench.
I went into that season really expecting Russ to embrace the role of 2nd unit leader and bringing some enegy to the clips bench. To be fair he did a decent job and was pretty humble about it but I wish he did a bit more
Yeah because he famously was happy about moving to the bench with the Lakers
He was awful in the Mavs series
Oh shit, he’s just one team away from playing for all the Cali teams
I hope it was just the heat of the moment.. I certainly enjoyed Westbrook for us. Honestly wished he stayed with us for more seasons
They could never make me hate you brodie
Agreed. He’s easily one of my all-time favorite players to watch. Just was absolutely electric.
I understand how his play was problematic later in his career as a role player and he’s to blame for much of that. But at the same time, he’s 38 now. He played a very long career. Longer than most players, stars included. And he was effective for much of it. While he may have never figured out how to be the ultimate role player, he stayed relevant for many years.
Best highlight reel of all time.
it’s actually inevitable that whenever i make a new friend / start seeing a potential partner & we get drunk together for the like, 3rd time, i ask “do you know who russell westbrook is” & if they say no i immediately pull up his 2016-17 highlights & explain the lore behind the biggest plays while we watch.
i’m certain it’s annoying to some of those people lol, but i fuckin love russ & his highest highs were beyond electric, especially seeing them in real time
It was crazy how fast he was in his prime. The TV never did it justice.
I do this with prime rockets James harden, but unlike you it’s not either the ladies just my little cousin that I can bully around and make them watch stuff
Prime D Rose is peak
TMac? Vince Carter? Even MJ??!
I know it’s a Westbrook glaze post but jesus calm down with the superlatives fellas.
Have you seen Westbrook’s highlights?
Anyone hating on Russ doesn’t like basketball .
I’ll do it for us both. Clearly he never played for your team.
They can for me
LeBron would gather get paid Miles McBride money than play for the Lakers
How does that make any sense. He played 8 years here
Have you watched the news this week?
You can’t say he doesn’t want to play for the Lakers when he spent 8 years here and left on good terms. What is this
Good thing no one cares about what the #1 dogshit fanbase in all of sports thinks about anything.
He’s my favorite player to watch ever.
Same here, man. Same here.
The only person who rivals him in my view is LeBron but I’d say in some vague objectivity, prime Westbrook was just so explosive he cant be topped in terms of excitement.
Westbrook is like the Sheed of our generation. Similar enthusiasm, energy, attitude, fan favourite, memorable/hilarious/outlandish moments like these, and with generational talent/skills but never quite reached his fullest potential.
sheed reigned it in long enough to accept a lesser role and fit in on those great piston teams though. and won a title
Eden hazard of basketball
what a strange comparison
I really don’t think so, Hazard was a joy to watch, his football IQ was insane, he made all the right decisions on the pitch and defenders had to swarm him.
Completely the opposite of WB, maybe the MVP version of Lukaku.
Yes, I found the right comp MVP version of Vidal.
He’s weirdly so entertaining and productive but also lowers any title chances of the team he plays for to 0.
Incredible that a young team could make the finals with a 0% chance of winning the title
Yea, because westbrook asked presti to trade james harden in his prime.
Even when he’s on your team?
Hell yeah! I was in the stands when Oscar Robinson handed him a trophy for breaking his single season triple double record.
Robertson… my bad
Who is that?
[removed]
New Legend? Hahaha
Yall both jiggling your fat bellies laughing with eachother
Bitter much
Lakers #1 dogshit fanbase in all of sports and it’s not even close.
Westbrick fans are worse
Everyone hates the Lakers fanbase. Even worse than Philadelphia sport fans. 99% delusional casuals with room temperature IQ.
especially when he’s on my team
Yeah a lot of people really don’t care. I understand if he’s on a team that has a legit chance at a ring and he messes up those chances but lets be honest, he hasn’t been on a lot of proper contenders. Lakers fans surely thought their team could do something and blame it all on Westbrook but nah they didn’t have that quality.
You mean 2 years removed from winning a ring?
Im here for the Westbrook appreciation
It’s nice to see. So many people in the sub literally touch themselves to hating on one of the best basketball players of all time lol
Hell yeah, I love Russ. I find people who hate on him to be some of most boring fans of the game.
Anyone else kinda hope OKC picks him up on a minimum and give him a chance to win a chip. Love him or hate him, Russ never cheated the game. He goes at 100% all game, every game, for good or bad. OKC could use another playmaker off the bench too.
Eh, we definitely do not need him but I want Brodie to come home.
Honestly, unless there is a reasonable expectation for more wings/forwards to open up for a trade that keeps OKC under the cap, I can’t see why it would be a “bad” idea.
Russ would know his place on the team now as a veteran that comes in and bring energy and keep things moving, similar to TJ McConnell.
Fit might be something that’d need to be assessed over time, but I can’t see him creating problems for OKC’s team given how much time they’ve had to gel by now.
So yeah, I can’t really see a reason outside of those I listed why they couldn’t bring him in on a vet minimum similar to what Lebron just did for philly.
Eh why risk him being hard to coach when you’re already so good. Guess you could just drop him, but that’s a lil harder with russ
Why must we assume the worst? Why do we focus on “risks”? Of course there are risks, but no more than any other person being just as capable of deception, stubbornness, or change.
I’m not saying it should or shouldn’t happen, but I am saying I can’t personally, nor anyone else, actually know how it would play out. All I see is that we have the space, the cap space, and he’d be coming back to the franchise that he seems the most attached to. That’s more evidence than any you or anyone else could provide as to why he’d be a poisoned pill to the roster.
My thoughts exactly
Mid season after they move Topic and get another possible open spot.
we already have an open spot after the Nuggets matched the offer for Spencer Jones
No
Tell me about Russ’ tenure with the Nuggets plz
He gets a lot of hate online but everyone I know in Denver loved having him on the team
The man single handly won us a bunch of games. He also single handly lost us a bunch of games. The inconsistentcy was infuriating, but the man laid it all out on the court and I have a ton of respect for that.
I’m a huge Russ fan so I rooted for yall hard. IMO you guys don’t win the Clippers series without him, he was a hugeee part of that. But he definitely a big negative against OKC. But he also was injured in that series (like the rest of ur team unfortunately), and yall were just outmatched because you only had like 5.5 players.
He did something id be very happy with a vet min contract doing.
He wasn’t negative vs OKC. He was only negative due to the bench disparity, he was a very good perimeter defenver vs J-Dub
Yeah sums it up nicely
When he blew a layup at the end of the game against the Timberwolves then fouled their 3 point shooter at the buzzer is engraved into my mind.
Jokic had a 60 point Triple Double that game.
Everyone goes on about Russ “ruining” this for Jokic but I can’t believe Jokic cares more about the statline than he does losing or that WB ruined his record game. Undoubtedly there are people on r/nba who care more about it than Jokic himself.
But hey I’m not Jokic so what do I know and I’m of course biased by my own opinion, which is that winning or losing doesn’t really affect that statline and people remember the game either way. I see it like a scoring record game, makes no difference to me if it comes in a win or a loss.
I think fans of every team he’s been on probably feel the same way.
I certainly enjoyed watching him with the Wizards
1st of half of the season bro was selling… second half of the season he was a DOG
I feel like fans soured because he was bad in the OKC series but idk, he gave our bench energy and had a lot of good moments. I wouldn’t feel bad about bringing him back
It was definitely a “Live by the Westbrook, Die by the Westbrook” situation. Hustle: Amazing. Missed clutch-time layups: Indefensible.
Everyone in Denver besides the actual team that sent him packing, lol
And how’d that work for them ?
Would have lost in 4 if we had him
As a neutral, I’ve always had fun watching him. One of the greats
same, the hate on him online is really sad to see
Only because the majority of the NBA fanbase are Lakers fan.
I’m positive the rest of the fans love or are neutral with him.
Cmon
“The truth is that they didn’t want me back. It ain’t up to me. God always has a plan. Be patient. Not up to me. They don’t want me… . They told me not to (pick it up). I don’t go anywhere I’m not wanted.”
–Russell Westbrook, two years after picking up his $46M player option to return to the Lakers.
Maybe he learned from that experience
Just just silly
Westbrick after his okc years became a basketball terrorist
Anytime I see Westbrook hate I just laugh at how much that person is missing out on.
Can never make me hate Russ.
This was my favorite moment of his as a Nugget. Was a certified hater prior to his time here but the dude’s heart is hard not to love and this moment was the embodiment of everything good Russ brings. Made me a fan for life
Westbrook appreciation in THIS sub ??? ❤️🩹
No matter how hard the internet tries they’ll never make me hate Russ
If they brought Russ back they make it out of the first round this year btw
I agree.
A nice change of pace from the absolute hate filled slander posts on brodie earlier
I about 90% miss having Russ on my team. Provided a much needed presence.
They will never ever make me hate you Russell Westbrook
I’m going to miss him.
That’s my goat
For as much shit as the guy gets I’ll always love Russ
Lol the same dude that has fans escorted out for saying less is bonkers
National Treasure Russell Westbrook
Bring him back!
someone got to sign him at least on a vet min.
I beg Russ gets signed to a contender even if he doesn’t play just so he can win a ring
Holy shit that was a Game 7? Must be demoralizing as hell 😂😂😂
Imagine if Westbrook was leading the Warriors
This is peak Russ energy, nobody does trash talk quite like him.
I’ll never love a player more than Westbrook.
I love you Westbrook
Now his own ass is going to China if he doesn’t want to retire
Say what you will about his later years. When he’s on, nothing hits quite like Russ.
Game 7 of the playoffs?
Playing in Europe now though. Should have been then too.
“I don’t think he cares” whatever gave you that idea?
You could never make me hate that guy, will always love Westbrook. SGA has probably surpassed Westbrook for OKC fans but it took 2 MVP’s and a Championship for him to do it. So fun to watch and cheer for, guy played angry.
Smh
Classic Russ. Ultimately love him despite his time with my team
Brodie will always be my GOAT
Hope he enjoys retirement, I’ll miss watching him play
What a clown (no, I’m not a clippers fan)
I didn’t expect the comments in this post. I thought r/nba hated Westbrook andI just read the comments on the post about his missed open layup. Kinda surprised at the duality of this sub, lol.
This would more entertaining if he wouldn’t have a fan removed from the game for saying the same shit
Cocaine bear is at it again

IcOnIc
now he’s working from home indefinitely
He’s almost 38. People’s brains are completely warped on what a normal 38 year old player looks like.
Let’s not pretend he didn’t spend the last like 6 years instantly making like 5 other teams worse as soon as he joined though.
That didn’t happen, so no need to pretend.
Nut huggers gonna pretend he hasn’t been washed but his last “good” year where he wasnt a net negative for a team was maybe Washington back in 2020.
He was bad for the Lakers, okay for the clippers until the second playoff stint, and extremely up-and-down for the Nuggets. All that while continously declining as a player. That being said, he didn’t “make every team worse” as you stated, and it does not take “nut hugging” to state that.
Had a great year in Washington - his last elite season, almost made All-NBA
Absolute nightmare with the Lakers because he was still getting paid like a superstar
Decent with the Clippers, especially off the bench the second year
Decent with the Nuggets but they really overextended his minutes
Wasn’t supposed to be the starter in Sacramento but Schroder lost the job early; also it’s Sacramento
“iconic” and nobody knew about this until you posted it
It had 24K upvotes when it was originally posted, so a few knew at least.
You can only discuss in absolutes on this subreddit, it’s either everybody or nobody and 24k is closer to 0 than 2.5M so it’s nobdy.

What is a Charlotte Bobcat
the product of an egotistical billionaire who wanted to name a team after himself
Hey hey hey, it’s not just iconic but “one of the most iconic technical fouls of all time”!
I vaguely remembered it. Kinda forgetable tenure for Rus in Denver tho
