Bruh it took me 2 hours to get from North Jersey to Queens in mid-day traffic on a non school day. Unless you live on the edge of Staten Island, it’s taking you 2 hours to get to Philly. Maaaybe post 7pm you can go from some parts of BK to Philly but thats about it.

I am not very familiar with that area (been to NYC twice) flew into Connecticut for work reasons, but may I venture to guess Connecticut has property with more space that some athletes are used to? When I was between the ages of 6 and 16, my dad used to commute every Monday from the Scranton, PA area to NYC (where his job was based) stay with his supervisor in Morris County, NJ overnight on weeknights and come home to PA on the weekends.
I won’t pretend it was an ideal arrangement, but it’s how my family lived for 10 years: Dad was away from home all week and that’s just how it was. We got used to it.
Then after Covid they just started letting him work from home entirely so the situation did a complete 180.

Google maps says it’s “only” 1hr 44min. I’m sure traffic can make that vary a lot, but I know people who have some both hybrid and daily commutes (or have a house here and an apartment there) from the city I live in to Minneapolis, which is like 1hr 30-45mins.
To be honest, it doesn’t seem that crazy to me. LeBron probably already has a place in NYC anyway. Plus, if he can call it his primary residence (which will be even easier to do if this becomes a public news story), then it saves him from the new 2nd-home tax in the city.
This is the kind of thing that working class people deal with when they have to make decisions between a big promotion or keeping a lower salary to spend more time with family. Except LeBron is on the road for half the time 9 months out of the year, so it’s even less of a factor. And he can bring his family with him on roadtrips if he wants to. And he can get a helicopter to fly him back and forth from Philly to NYC in a lot less time if he really wants to.
This seems like Windhorst being kind of detached from reality, which is weird because he’s saying it’s crazy that a billionaire athlete is doing something just a little extravagant. But this is something real, normal people deal with, too. They just don’t have all of the other advantages that LeBron does which make it way less crazy.
