It’s not unreasonable to hope that the 35th pick has a trajectory to develop into a useful roleplayer in the NBA. It was clear from day 1 this guy was not an NBA player. That is clearly disappointing.

35 is a good enough spot where you shouldn’t have near zero hopes of the pick being an nba player after just one year. And who knows, maybe Broome develops something to change his trajectory but he was a super old prospect even at the time of draft so it’s not great if you’re hoping for some untapped potential from him.

Most 35th picks aren’t in the position of having to be waived because their team picked up two dudes with five FMVPs between them and they need to win immediately so there’s a roster crunch.

Broome was never likely to be a good NBA player or anything but there really is no such thing as a “booty” pick in the second round.

35 isn’t such a bad pick. Raynaud was there - I wanted him. Didn’t think he would be as good as he looks now but it was obvious Broome’s game wouldn’t translate at all.

Wrong. In 2022, Portland stretched Didi Louzada’s contract over 7 years, when he had a 3-year contract and the last two years of his contract were non-guaranteed. They currently have a cap hit of $268k per year as a result.

It is funny that the second they drafted Broome it was widely accepted that it was a terrible pick. Broome seemed like the typical dominant college big that obviously doesn’t translate to the NBA. From what I remember, it was because he was willing to take a specific contract. What makes it worse is that you had someone like Raynaud there who would’ve fit that Stretch 5 spot

Walker is a guy, I rather keep. He’s a Klutch guy. His ability to rebound, capable floor spacer, and small ball 5 makes him valuable on the non-Embiid nights. Broome seems like a lost cause if he can’t make threes.

Might have to just waive him because I wouldn’t want to attach a 2nd to dump him
