Lebron probably focuses on playing a role and averages something like 18-7-7 imo.

Maxey is absolutely lights-out off ball and VJ is a guy who tries hard to find ways to impact the game without the ball. He’s an excellent rebounder for his size and has amazing hands defensively.

And anyway it’s not like we were running stuff for him last year. He got his points through fast breaks and sneaky backdoor cuts and stuff. He has an instinct for that.

What I can’t wait to see is the fast break with those three because one of the crazy things is LeBron has been an absolute terror on fast breaks later in his career because he is so good at anticipating when to go and gets a head start.

I feel like Edgecomb’s stats are inflated due to the high minutes per game he played as a rookie.

Dylan Harper averaged 4 less pts than Edgecomb but played 14 minutes less per game than him, that’s over an entire qtr of playing time haha

Same goes for Maxey, Nurse just loves to ride with his star players and that honestly might not be a good thing long term wise.

LeBron isn’t averaging 20, and its hard to see Edgecomb bumping up 4pts with Brown coming in.

Don’t think its in the cards, but I guess there’s a chance they all work perfectly together and there’s no one taking the true lead role. The end result being 4 of them around 20-22 instead of some of them up in the 28 range.

Lebron and Embiid won’t really play that much in the regular season

It’ll be just Brown and Maxey most of the time.

If Edgecombe is averaging 20+ then at least 3 of Philly’s starters are hurt.

Embiid should unironically not even play the regular season and just turn up in round 1.

There’s no way both Embiid and LeBron stay fully healthy, so the question is how many games do they need to play for it to count if they average 20? Lebron has averaged 62 per season post-COVID, and we know about Embiid.

So if they average 20 each but only play 50-60 games, do you count that? They need 58 to qualify for stat leaders, and LeBron probably gets there. So him, Brown, and Maxey is probably it.

LeBron will average 16 tops this year. I think it’ll be closer to 14. He’s here to be a super glue guy and closer.

I’d think it will look something like this:

Maxey - 23 ppg

VJ - 16 ppg on higher efficiency

Brown - 24 ppg

James - call it 15 ppg

Embiid - 22 ppg in limited minutes and games

I think Maxey, Brown, and Embiid could swing around a bit, with one potentially going as high as 26 a game if injuries hit. But we won’t see any astronomical numbers.

Short answer? No.

Long answer? Absolutely not.

I don’t think Bron averages 20 this season. He doesn’t need to, he’s going to slide into the Magic role. Maybe he leads the league in assists though.

They’ll prolly get four guys to average 20 ppg, solely because Embiid will miss like 50 games.

Nurse is a lot of things but a great people manager isn’t one of them. He has relied on Kyle Lowry to manage players for most of his career. When Kyle left Toronto the Raptors locker room imploded. Kyle retired this year so Nurse can’t use him. The only way something like this can happen is if LeBron makes it work. Lebron has never been much of a leader off the court so I don’t see it.

They might have 4 averaging 20+, but should it really count if Embiid only plays like 25-30 games?

I highly doubt LeBron still averages over 20 at 42, especially since it shouldn’t be as needed with everyone around him on this team

If Embiid only plays 20 games, he can average over 20 ppg and it won’t affect anybody else’s average.

The problem with looking at straight PPG (or USG%) is that it attempts to look at single game numbers and doesn’t take account the entire season.

Example:

If Embiid plays 40 games at 28 MPG that’s about 16 FGA per game. That’s 640 FGA on the season.
At his ppFG efficiency from last year that’s 23.4 PPG.

If VJ plays 70 games with about 12.5 FGA per game that is 875 FGA on the season. At his rookie ppFG efficiency that’s 14.6 PPG.

VJ has more volume but lower PPG.

So it’s possible to have four 20+ PPG players when you factor in missed games.

Decent chance Embid, James, and VJ all are below 20pts.

Brown and Maxey, will be above 20.

James will need to be the primary ball handler a lot, so I do not think he will be scoring as much. I think 16ppg or so.

Keep in mind though, injuries. That easily gives time when people will stat pad.

Lebron and VJ aren’t avging 20. Embiid, Maxey, and Brown are gonna be your scorers and will average 75 a night. Lebron’s most likely gonna be a facilitator and take a backseat to the other 3

And nor will this one. If you look at recent superteams like this one, in the last decade/and a half. They haven’t succeeded. Basketball is more than just putting a bunch of high profile names together. There isn’t enough ball to go around for 4 guys to score 20. I would like to see Lebron become Magic for this team, or for them to basically have two rotations meaning a couple of these guys would come off the bench. Like having two starting fives over 48.

Bunch of 16-22 ppg like Celtics starting 5 a while back. 13-15 FGA each.

They don’t need 4 guys to average more than 20, everyone was saying the same thing after they acquired Tobias from the Clippers and trotted out Simmons, Reddick, Butler, Harris and Embiid in the starting lineup.

If you are getting 90 points from your starters why have a bench

Brown will average much less than last year.
Maxey will have problems scoring unless he gets the ball in transition because LeBron will end up running point. Joel will have injuries and sit a lot of games so that will help others.

Bro LeBron gets 20 so effortlessly. He picks his spots. He averaged 21 last year and that was with Luka (black hole) and Reeves (black hole jr). With this team he will be so efficient he will get 20 on like 13 shots. Also at best Embid will play like 50 games. The games that Embid is out you will see Lebron score more. I don’t see Maxey and Brown both going for 28 each. I think that was unlikely before they added Lebron.

Sure, at least to a 2nd round exit. Their defense will kill them and they don’t fit seamlessly on offense enough to overpower that.

JB standing around and ‘sacrificing’ isn’t some gigantic value add because he’s not a crazy off ball player. JB on ball reps in order to have Maxey off ball is such a mediocre trade off to make.

LeBron will want his touches. That’s why his superteams lost more than it won. I mean, it’s easy to just simply overpower teams in the regular season. But in the playoffs where strategy matters, that’s where they fall short. Players used to getting touches can’t just become the same great player with less touches. LeBron has never learns his lesson.
