I thought he really earned his pay last season. He carried the team during the regular season after Jokic got injured and Jokic never really got back into MVP form.

I don’t think he will leave Denver, but it’s possible if the franchise doesn’t have a clear plan. If he does leave, it will be my first non-Denver NBA jersey I buy.

Nah there are a handful of people on that roster that people absolutely want the Nuggets to get rid of. The issue is that nobody else wants them. E.g. Christian Braun.

Their cap structure of the top 4 making ~100% and top 5 making ~110-115% is extremely similar to the Knicks.

Jokic is basically paid the same as KAT. Both teams have their star offensive players at ¹⁄₅ and highly paid 2-4 role players.

Interesting how the two teams’ projections for next year are so different.

We basically did the same thing. Operated like we were a piece away, while the rest of the league kept getting better. 

I understand that matching puts the Nuggets over the second apron, but I don’t see how that necessitates finishing their offseason right away. The Thunder were in the second apron for weeks before they executed the Dort trade.

It makes more sense for them to S&T Watson and take a gap year.

Keeping Watson and moving Cam just puts them in the same cap crunch next year.

If they trade Watson for a 29 1st it will unlock 2 of their 1sts for trade next off-season and give them 3 tradeable 1sts and cap flexibility next off-season

Problem is, they waited so long that nobody has cap space to take one without sending sizeable money in return

Jones might be better value even at 12m than Watson. They really should be keeping both at this point.

Jokic will finish his career in Denver. He has said this many times. He’s not Lebron. He doesnt care that much about the rings. He just wants to play ball with his boys.

He’s quite literally said he wants to be a Denver player forever and he’s signing in the upcoming offseason to maximise his earnings. He will earn about 80m more if he waits.

Honestly, I think the Nuggets should consider asking him if he would be good with being traded. Try to get him on a team that can compete, while having a chance at a rebuild with a haul.

I have no doubt Jokic is willing to sign the max next season, but hard to see them actually competing with what they currently have. And they’re stuck with it for a few years.

Hartenstein played for us long before OKC picked him up lol. Malone just never uncovered his potential + Hart did foul a lot iirc.

You are right (even though no Nuggets fan wants to hear it). But I still think they dont need to do it yet. Jokic’s game doesnt rely on speed and athleticism. He will be fine in 2 seasons..

Arsenal’s spending money comes from their own revenue. It wont affect Denver. The transfer fee isnt even the big issue. Its his weekly wage that is the concern long term. They would need to shed salary. The good news is Havertz and Jesus make a boatload each and Arsenal can offload them for Vinis salary.
