If it wasn’t for his rough 2018-19 start (a lot of injuries), then he would have been one of the only guys in the league to add to their assist total every single season.
Tatum and Trae used to be the only 2, but both of them lost their spot this past season due to injuries.
A big chunk of assists are just a function of usage. Guys who dominate the ball get a lot of assists, whether or not they’re particularly good at setting guys up.
This means nothing in isolation. What’s his turnover to assist ratio? Also his usage has increased during this time which would also increase them.
His assist % has consistently increased while his turnover % has hovered around the same level.

People ignore that he’s taken less 3s and attempted more 2s for a couple years now while acting like he’s the smartest guy around. He took more 2s than any other player in the league last season and by basically all accounts ended up being a net negative for the team.
Yup. Mostly while being highly contested or double teamed then he jacks up a step back long 2 like what the fuck are you doing. I know I’m the minority of Celtics fans but I’m happy the JB experiment is over. Can’t wait to watch Tatum own this team and no longer need to share it.
There has been a contingent of Celtics fans that haven’t liked his game for years. I loved Jaylen but he can be a very frustrating player at times while putting up good numbers. His point of attack defense is good but he often gets lost when defending off the ball and he lets up way too many easy buckets and open shots that would infuriate coaches even at the youth level. Then there’s the ball security slumps and tunnel vision on offense.

I think something people forget is that yes there’s arc and positioning but these guys have trained and worked specific muscles designed to push that ball through the air to full strength. Look at the average NBA player’s delts, lats and triceps

He’s going to have to be a great off-ball player this upcoming season if Philly is to have any serious chance of winning it all. LeBron and Maxey have both had extended periods of time (Lebron with Luka/Austin, Maxey with Harden) where they moved and played off-ball so Brown is the X-factor to me in this regard.
