Eh, I don’t think it’s about the retirement tour affecting his life, but maybe he wants to encourage humility and the desire to turn away from the public eye and the shallowness of fame.

I think that’s his point. Duncan was a unique individual and character, and the way he retired was very fitting. It would not be bad to have more people like this in the NBA.

But actually, it’s more about how it distracts from a team. I can’t name a successful retirement tour since the last dance across any major sport. There’s those final shining moments, but ultimately feels like a distraction for the team.

This is the year for Philly, if you think it’s a circus this year, next year is going to be a freak show with home much it dominates every single facet of the season

Yeah his was really lowkey too. I loved one of the comments he made afterwards. He said he thought about making an announcement video where he tries to dunk over a Kia but slams into it instead followed by the caption “father time is undefeated”.

Nah, not always. After 2011, yes. Prior to that, he was very reliant on his athleticism and didn’t have a consistent jumper, any post game, or a particularly deep bag of tricks (at least not compared to the guy he was chasing). Pat Riley sat him down after the loss to Dallas and told him that he needed to work on those other parts of his game, even the ones he didn’t enjoy like the post, if he wanted to win. Credit to LeBron for taking that talk to heart and putting in the work to come back with a couple of the most dominant seasons of all-time en route to a couple titles and then to continue putting in the work for another 15 years. Without that loss to Dallas, his game would not have aged so gracefully and he’d probably already be out of the league a couple years and have fewer titles to boot.

He is becoming a slightly harder to justify max contract at this point and I don’t think that needs a serious debate. But he is still way way way better than mass majority of the players around NBA

In terms of pure ability? Absolutely. I genuinely don’t see a world where LeBrons ability decreases. But i just don’t think he can sustain the usage to be a Top 30 player.
