TBH I think the sixers are still competitive without him. Maxey and Edgecomb are pretty great. Maxey is only 25, still getting better. Add in Jaylen brown and LeBron James, and you already have a contending team. At least in my view JB and Maxey might be 2 of the most underrated players in the league

I’d seriously consider keeping Embiid on an extreme minutes limit and/or play him every other game until the postseason. Bc it would be very fun to see how far they can go with him healthy.

I wouldn’t call Jaylen Brown and Tyrese Maxey iron men, but they are pretty durable stars. Also, they have a solid amount of depth.

Embiid missed over half the season and the Sixers won 45 games last season (21-23 in games Embid didn’t play). I think they’ll be fine in the regular season.

The most important thing will be how to make Embiid last a deep playoff run. They also need Bona and Huk to take another step this season. Also, Barlow and Wade will probably play some spot minutes at C as well.

I’ll donate my knees if it means Bron wins another chip

Plus, they’re going to be really fun to watch.

I think they have a fairly good shot at winning the East. Getting Embied his first ever Conference appearance. But I think like when he won MVP, he’ll check out and cruise.

I also don’t think they match up fairly well with the Western favorites of Spurs and Thunder.

Maybe the finals loss is going to be Wemby’s version of Bron losing to Dallas and they just tear it up next year

staying on the same team and win in two different eras (like Duncan) is more difficult IMO because when your core gets old, you can’t just pair your star with another star as easily.

You don’t have to go through a rebuild or retool when you can just join a new team and be ready to compete.

Lebron is the greatest mercenary in NBA history. Teams exhaust all their resources in an effort to put a win-now team around him, with the understanding that he’s going to leave once things get difficult.

No. Winning with one team is undeniably harder because sustaining a good team is difficult under the cap restrictions. There are exceptions like modern OKC and Celtics and in the past Spurs, but they aren’t the rule. Even with Jordan, I think his double three-peat was the most dominant feat in sports, but it was on the back of Pippen being absolutely fleeced his contract.

I’m not saying it’s unimpressive, but not more impressive than winning with the same team.

Lebron joining the Lakers was nowhere near the most likely outcome to winning a chip.
