I’m fully convinced Maxey is a 40% guy when he isn’t carrying the team on his back for70% of the year. Also VJ was a rookie who would get very streaky so who knows.

That defense is gonna be an issue too

One of the least talked about issues with the Sixers was the lack of a true point guard. Maxey for all his skills is not best as a lead guard. So everyone else would suffer in shooting off passing because of that.

To make it worse they didn’t have a real backup point guard. McCain isn’t a passer. Neither is Grimes.
VJ had to take up a lot of that responsibility, but he’s not there yet.

Now with a real offense-initiator in LeBron everyone will be better for it. There will also be less wear and tear on Maxey so he should be better as the initiator when LeBron is off. They also upgraded their guard depth with Philon, Simons, and even Caleb Love.

So I don’t think you can just go by last season’s percentages.

Tyrese Maxey with James Harden shot 45.3% from three. Now I won’t say he’ll repeat that number. But can he be much closer to 40% with LeBron playing next to him? I’d think so.

Embiid was 36.6% with Harden vs 33.5% without.

Also, LeBron shot 32% from three in 22-23 and then 41% & 38% the next two years. His shot has had up and down seasons. I don’t think his number from last year is all that predictive.

Defense is probably gonna be the bigger concern.

The bigger issue, imo, is the shot distribution.

I know the “only one ball” trope is tired, but Jesus this might be the most shot-happy group I’ve ever seen constructed.

Look at these FGA numbers:

- Brown - 21.7 (2nd in NBA)
- Maxey - 21.4 (3rd in NBA)
- Embiid - 18.3 (would have been 12th in NBA but didn’t qualify)
- LeBron - 15.3
- Edgecombe - 13.7

The average NBA team shoots around 88-90 shots a game. Obviously those numbers will change as the players adopt to new roles, and times when guys are out will warp the averages of each guy, but the Sixers starting lineup alone averaged 90.4 shots per game last year. That doesn’t account for the 70 minutes or so off the bench.

Everyone is talking about defense but they’ll be solid not like they got turnstiles.

You aren’t leaving any of them open from the 3 point line kids really think games are played on spread sheets.

I think LeBron can easily get their percentages up by 2% if he has the ball.

Everyone on this list except for VJ shot below their averages from 3 last season due to periods of needing to take harder shots than normal. Maxey is an elite shooter, VJ’s main offseason goal has been to become a better shooter, and Embiid is an elite shooter from 18’ and in. It’s something to think about but it’s not as bad as this makes it look

This is the issue with stats, y’all don’t watch the games. There were some very serious issues with our offensive scheme. Maxey is a shooter, vj is streaky with potential as a rookie, embiid hits threes way better off ball.

Edit: nerds last season were looking me dead in the eye and telling me Drummond was a good three threat

Maxey being able to shoot more off-ball is going to be crazy. Point forward Lebron about to average 12+ assists per game

I’m surprised about Brown’s percentage being that low. Is he better on the catch and shoot?

I think the biggest concerns are too many People who need the Ball in their Hands and also Defence. Who is going to be the POA Defender in this Lineup? VJ? Last year he could pretty easily be bumped from his Spot and also not a great screen navigator.

Bron had his worst shooting season in a while and was at 37 and 41% the two previous seasons on more attempts. Brown will be taking less pull up threes I believe which should help the raw %. Embiid is still a good enough shooter at the five where teams gotta respect him.

I think the major concern is defence and team defence. Embiid wasn’t nearly as good as a rim protector last season and I don’t think Hukporti is going be a major factor either. Think you can attack guys like Maxey and Bron depending on match ups and how often you go at them. I also don’t trust Brown on defence outside of on-ball action.

Maxey is a lot, lot better off the catch than off the dribble. That should help him a bit. In general I think the average player quality should make doubling tricky and either create lots of open looks for Edgecombe or result in a lot of single coverage for Maxey and Embiid to attack a defender

I think this is not a real problem. I think Edgecombe will just improve and you can’t really leave any of these guys alone not only because of their shooting but also aside from Embiid all of these guys can cut. They will all get better looks.

This is skewed… those numbers include have to do more creation off the dribble. Find the catch and shoot numbers.

Maxey and VJ could improve. Ant went from 35 to 40% in a year. Very possible.

I don’t have the stats on me, but I’m pretty sure Brown is a much better catch and shoot 3pt shooter than off the dribble.

This is a bad take. Maxey has one of the best 3pt % off the catch in the league. He’s been forced into playing on ball too much. And VJ also has great 3pt % off the catch. They will get so many more of these looks now.

Embiid does need to improve his 3pt % and I hope that’s his focus this summer. Spacing is going to be great because you can’t double/trap Maxey any longer because they have the personnel to make teams pay now. You will have to pick your poison defending this team.
