Is LeBron’s deal with the 76ers the Most Team Friendly Contract Relative to Value in NBA History?
I don’t think there’s much question that, if he wanted it, LeBron could have gotten the max, or close to the max, from a variety of different teams in the league. Instead, he’s signing for \(8 million over two years. He is, in effect, leaving \)60 million plus on the table to try and break a franchise’s curse.
Genuine question: has there ever been a deal that was more team friendly than this one, relative to potential production? In LeBron the 76ers are getting an all-time great player who is still a top twenty player in the league. This is beyond Brady taking haircuts off his paychecks for better teams; this is an outright bargain bin deal.
Can anyone think of a single deal that’s been more beneficial to a team than this one, based off value?
