Korea is SUPER fucked up when it comes to “celebrities”. Like, if your want to read some really fucked up shit, look into kpop stars and what their lives are like. They’re basically indentured servants with no autonomy.
Korea has fucked up celebrity culture and a lot of problematic things but this isn’t really true. Kpop idols are honestly a lot more similar to athletes. They are on fully guaranteed contracts and receive fixed pay with minimal incentive change. It sucks when you become a global star and get a fraction of what you would at a western music label. But for a large number they never have a hit release but still get to enjoy usually 4-5 years of a very high paying job. It’s absolutely an industry you can basically DeAndre Ayton your way into wealth and its really hard to do that elsewhere.
I mean you’re leaving out a lot. They don’t get to do anything without approval from the owners of “the brand”. They didn’t get to date who they want. They don’t get to choose their friend groups. They’re fully controlled while being financially taken advantage of. The money they get vs what they generate is abysmal. There’s a reason why so many suffer from depression
Not just Korea but other parts of Asia as well. I know Japan is also bad. Just the fact for a lot of women they’re not allowed to date or be public about the relationships because of how much it can hurt their “brand”. They’re super objectified.

Serious answer: He had a major grudge against the previous owner Glen Taylor (long story not really that relevant). He talked with Timberwolves players a lot just would not come to Target Center or have any official activities with the team while Glen was around.
Sale just went final in the middle of last season to officially and completely transfer the team (that’s also a long story, it was a goofy ass sale but it is done now, finally) to Arod and Lore, who basically immediately gave KG an official role with the team. Next year he will have his jersey retired and will be coming to games at Target Center. Not sure how involved he will be exactly beyond that (the jersey retirement/return to Target Center is for sure already planned), but the whole thing was over Glen Taylor specifically and now Glen is gone.
