This is what Fenway Park looked like during the last 15-game Red Sox winning streak
That’s sad they couldn’t afford color back then.
They could afford color, the owner just wouldn’t pay for it…
because of Tom Yawkey, Fenway Park was famously black and white all the way until 1976
the color video and pictures you’ve seen is just a Yawkey Foundation psy-op (the roast beef is made of people)
They didn’t want anyone to see the color of the Fenway Franks back then.
More white, if we’re being honest
Color was a problem
They had to wait another year to get Jackie Robinson in the league
I’d do anything to travel back in time and see a game in the 1940s-50s. Fenway, Ebbets Field, anywhere.
Al’s Diner Libson, ME. Walk thru the back storage
Ebbets for sure!
Back in time would be Polo Grounds or Fenway with the hill for me. Eclipse Park would be up there as well if we go 1800’s. Show me something I’ve never seen a photo of.
not a phone in sight, everyone’s enjoying the moment
You mean the person who took this picture wasn’t using their phone? 🤯
It’s a DSLR
I like how the umpire is still signaling “Fair” well after the batter has rounded first
the black and white sox
Third base coach gonna touch home plate before the end of the play
How much was a beer and hot dog.
Not shocking, only 6 teams have had a streak longer than 15 games in all of mlb history
This is so cool, baseball is better when the Red Sox are relevant
You’re saying it looked like Fenway? Hmm…
I wish the Red Sox would build a modern stadium and “de-restore” Fenway to what it looks like here. No upper deck outside of the press box; just a classic, no-frills baseball experience like we’d get in the 30s.
