[Heyen] These are the 8 teams on RHP Kevin Gausman’s no-trade list from the Blue Jays, per Ken Rosenthal: Reds, Brewers, Tigers, Mets, A’s, White Sox, Pirates and Mariners.

Immediately where my mind went
No kidding. What the hell kevin?
I heard that he doesn’t like skyline chili
The hot dogs slap and I will hear no slander
I really wanted to like it, but it didn’t work for me. Glad you guys do, it’s a cool regional dish.
I moved to NJ about 11 years ago now, and I’ve tried giving Skyline to probably 20 people at this point. 1 single person has actually liked it, everyone else just thinks less of me after they taste it.
More for me though.
Smallpark
If parks was a significant consideration, wouldn’t the Rockies be included?
He didn’t bother knowing they wouldn’t be in contention.
And the Mariners excluded?
We got the opposite problem, surprised he said no for us
BaBip is .345 at CIN. 8th worst out of all the parks. Don’t know if that has anything to do with it
He probably just knows our ownership is absolute fucking dogshit
Can you blame a man for not wanting to live in Ohio?
Or even worse, Kentucky?
He’s already been there done that
wtf did we do
The north never forgets
(Daily reminder that geography is weird and Seattle is North of Toronto)
Is this a sign of geography being weird or people just being bad at geography?
Yes
Both!
Seattle is farther north though
The south will rise again! -Kevin Gaussman
Da sout will rise again mon! - Joey Tribbiani
Yes, money well spent

Underrated reference
Can’t get batters to come to our pitcher-friendly park and now we can’t get pitchers to come to it either
I think you’re doing just fine on pitchers.
It’s about the only thing we’re doing fine on.
Mariners probably spend twice as much time on a plane than any other team
We tried to sign him in 2021 and he told us to fuck off then too
He likes run support.
I’m pretty sure he’s forgotten what run support feels like over the last five years.
2022 lives long in the memory I guess
I’m surprised there are M’s fans that haven’t picked up on how much he hates us. It’s every game he plays against us he’s chirping. It all started with whatever happened in those FA talks when he was our top choice, Jerry thought we had him, and he refused to come here.
Maybe he’s scared of Josh
lol literally thinking the same thing
He’s heard the stories from the Naylor files
Over the course of our history, nothing. Quite literally. But that’s probably the problem.
So you’re saying there’s a chance
Returning to his root 🙏
The dude hates the Midwest
Kevin “Bicoastal” Gausman
Cubs not mentioned 👀
No Cardinals either. Royals and Guardians in the AL seem fine too
Don’t forget us! Or do, I don’t really care at this point.
He knows our teams would never take on his salary, so why waste the no-trade spots.
Great Lakes counts as a coast
Unless it’s Wisconsin
Doesn’t know what he’s missing!
I’d accept a trade to Milwaukee just for the beer, cheese, and sausages.
A man of taste and refinement.
Probably forgot the Twins existed but maybe since the owner sucks he knows they would never trade for him.
Maybe Louis Varland talked us up.
Also Starbucks and Jimmothy
The Midwest and… Queens, NY?
And the Mets
It always the Pirates lol
I mean, I get it.
Pirates fans would have an absolute meltdown if they traded for a starting pitcher lol
I would love a SP. I would be upset if we wasted assets on Kevin fucking Gausman.
Wanting a SP and giving up assets for a SP when it’s not a priority are 2 different things lol. They need bullpen arms desperately.
This time, I am okay with it. Dudes been going through it lately
And Brewers
He must have really hated his short time with the Reds
Who doesn’t
I’ve hated my long time with the Reds
I got into baseball around this time last year. Did I fuck up choosing the reds? How bad can it be
https://preview.redd.it/o34c1ejfkueh1.png?width=498&format=png&auto=webp&s=a6312e81ffb25e34fc1b387c99c8a7a088677691
Oh no, but wild card last season?
Wild card because the Mets literally could not win games. No playoff wins since 2012, no playoff series win since 1995.
This guy Reds
maybe i’m still in a honeymoon period as a baseball watcher. the game is beautiful and if i was in it for the playoffs or the richest owners id have just become a dodgers fan.
Yasiel Puig and Derek Dietrich seemed to have fun!
Oh how cute, Kevin actually might wanna come back to birdland
Trading one bird for the other.
Can’t believe we’re in this state 😭
Yall can have Bassitt back 👀
Probably can see that we actually have decent starting pitching now so we’re 100% nothing like the Angelos regime
We let people throw their best pitches now.
People confused about the Brewers - players often use these partial no-trade lists for leverage and include teams they’re likely to be traded to so they can negotiate a deal there. Doesn’t necessarily mean he hates the Brewers (or maybe he does idk his mind)
It’s not that confusing. He made this list 5 years ago.
Brewers were also a good team 5 years ago
A very good, very annoying team
We try our best
That makes it even more confusing. Five years ago, three of these teams were good (Brewers, White Sox, Mariners), two were decent (A’s, Reds), two were bad (Mets, Tigers), and one was horrible (Pirates)
The only reasoning that makes sense is that he simply doesn’t want to play for any of them.
Saying no to the brewers is certainly a choice
Why? It’s not always about whether a team is good or not. All it takes is a manager, coach, or even another players w/ a team that a player can’t stand. Or even something like not liking pitching in a certain stadium.
I wonder if a player with recovering alcoholism ever declined playing for the Brewers
No idea but considering Gausman loves his weed and you can’t even get medicinal weed there, that might explain it
But Cubs yes, Sox no?
Sox owner is legendary for sucking .
Would have you left the Sox off a no trade list before this season?
Certainly wouldn’t have left the Cubs off. Ignore my flair.
Jerry bad. Stadium meh. Can they change their lists at any time? Bc if it was made when he signed, or the beginning of the year, then I wouldn’t blame him for avoiding the Sox.
The player can waive the no-trade clause.
Cubs are an extremely player friendly organization and the Sox aren’t.
City/region also influences these lists. For example, I’d guess Gausman doesn’t particularly want to be in the Rust Belt but would make an exception for the Cubs and Guardians.
Must not be Catholic.
What a way to get cursed by Pope Bob
Could be the other c religion since he didn’t rule out coming back to the Giants
What other C religion?
Calvinist?
Come on back, buddy
I didn’t even realize he played for you guys
Yeah, he got suspended for throwing at Ureña in retaliation for Ureña hitting Acuña a few times. He wasn’t great with us and, if I remember correctly, ended up getting DfA’d
Make a good offer. Knock off the Dodgers.
Come on AA, pull the trigger!
If we have to lose him, I’ll be happy if he’s a Brave.
Gross
Hear, hear!
Well fuck you too. I get it, but fuck you.
lmao I also was like I mean….I can’t blame him for that but still fuck him
Despite it making absolutely zero sense for either party, hopefully he comes home
I don’t want him to leave but you guys seem chill so I wouldn’t be completely devastated.
Arte Moreno: COME ON BABY BRING HIM IN
JUST A FEW PIECES SHORT AND DEFINITELY BREAKING PLAYOFF DROUGHT! NO, WINNING IT ALL!
What he say fuck me for?
[deleted]
Location, location, location
I assume these teams are established when he signed the contract, so it’s not meant to be a reflection of the current state of the league. He can still waive his no-trade rights if he changes his mind and wants to go to one of those teams,
I believe the list of teams in a limited NTC is updated by the player each year
He doesn’t like the Orgs is the main thing I can think.
None from the AL East are on there
I have a feeling he’s sticking around the neighborhood
Welcome to Kansas City Kevin
Why wouldn’t you wanna play for the Brewers right now tho?
Weed is illegal there.
🎯
The irony of banning weed while being the alcoholic capital of the USA.
Its almost like the beer companies dont want any competition
It’s mainly the Tavern League but I’m sure Miller isn’t completely uninvolved
I think they make this lists when they sign the contract. Can always ok it later.
This is the weirdest mix of teams I’ve seen on a no trade list
Brewers stick out like a sore thumb. All the others are understandable but unless there’s something, why would you not want to play for a contender?
Maybe they don’t want to live in Wisconsin
“Am I a joke to you?”
looks at 51-51 record
“Fair play.”
Completely agree. Hes also struggling right now so they could really help him right the ship. Not like hes worried about the winters there coming from Toronto.
Gausman for Arias, easy and fair trade
Marlin confirmed
Everybody not understanding Gaus is a different dude. He signed in Toronto, for less money, cuz he wanted to be here. He’s talked about hanging it up after this season so he can be with his kids, cuz he already got the bag.
LMAO whatever
Reminder that they often pick teams for their list that are likely trade partners rather than places they don’t want to go. You don’t need to put a bad team that would never trade for you on your list.
Also worth noting this list was made 12⁄2021.
Hey what the hell? Why not the Mets?
Oh….right…nevermind carry on.
Well fuck you too Kevin
He’s a huge pot head. Sounds like he can’t even get medicinal weed there
Wtf did the Sox do?
Up until this year? The normal shit the Sox do lol
A who’s who of “We Suck” teams
Why wouldn’t you want to go to the Brewers?
hey we are fun now
Imagine a pitcher not wanting to go to Milwaukee. It’s like a free half a run off your era and an increase on pretty much all your stats
I wonder if there are any team-specific no trade clauses that DON’T include the A’s?
Why in gods name would the Mets trade for gausman
Obviously his NTC was established long before today. I also think any smart player with an NTC would put the Mets on there. This isn’t a dig at the Mets, they just spend a fuck ton of money, so if they want to add you in a trade you can deny it until the Mets sweeten the pot with an extension, some incentives, or just a simple raise.
Why wouldn’t David Stearns make a decision that Mets fans would collectively despise?
White Sox
😞
Looking at the list it appears he just hates Midwest winters or something. Well, that’s fair, I suppose.
Don’t get Pittsburgh and Seattle, though.
But the twins aren’t on the list? Neither are the cubs
Shouldn’t the Cubs be on there then as well? And it’s not like these guys have to live full-time in the city where they play. I would guess the majority do not.
Don’t forget about them moving their family though.
Well I didn’t want you either Gausman
Don’t worry Kevin, we wouldn’t make an attempt to be competitive by trading for anyone remotely decent anyway, you’re safe.
Bro wants nothing to do with David Stearns let’s be real here
Send him to the giants
LoL
Fuck you too buddy
Aren’t the Mets on every no-trade list.
Feels nice to not be on these for once
I feel like we just won something?
We matter!
brewers would fix him right up and extend his career, instead of retirement
Exactly, if I’m a pitcher who’s struggling that is the first place I’d want to go.
When does a player decide this? When they sign contract or at a later date?
Tigers fall from grace has been swift.
Can’t have shit in Detroit
Usually no-trade clauses are full of contending teams that would actually trade for the guy, as a way to give the player some leverage. This just seems like a fuck-these-teams list lol
Really interesting that we’re not included considering every team near us IS included lmao
DODGAH?
Royals don’t even get the dignity of a no.
I’m surprised we aren’t there lol
Come home.
Bro we have a Pope now!
😭😭😭
Line with me
I have to imagine that the White Sox could possibly have an exception made. He signed this contract after they seemed mega-doomed, not a potential playoff team. If he really didnt like Chicago (to each their own) then the Cubs would be on this list too
Welcome to Birdland good sir
Is there a limit of the number of teams players can list as no trade destinations?
YOU are a Kansas City royal!
What did the Brewers do?? Understand the other ones
This will definitely derail the Mets trade deadline plans
If we’re just doing places I wouldn’t want to live in the summer if I’m Gausman, might as well slap Atlanta, All of Florida, Texas, and Arizona on that list as well.
Good - why the fuck would the Mariners want him?
