Jake Bennett gets drilled in the stomach at 103 doesn’t react and calmly throws out Ward at first
My stone faced king
Adrenaline’s a hell of a drug
that’s why pitchers should have beer bellies
Pitchers should be tall and fit because you have to look stately on the mound and tall/thin with low socks is the most stately look.
Stately is best form for disintegrating birds.
Watching a bird explode really shows how hard these balls are thrown. I would certainly fair no better.
Now just imagine, the ball that hit Bennett in the stomach was going even faster than the one that demolished that bird
Then why does Skenes look so damn goofy?
More HR power too
I believe we specifically requested no belly itchers
Best I can do is a couple of broken ladders.
Lance Lynn was the poster child.
Ray King was the worst beer belly I’ve seen on the field
David Wells had quite the gut as well.
This is Rich Garces erasure.
Would’ve loved to see Kruk pitch.
Jake Bennett after going back in the dugout: AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
Wilson hobbles over on his fractured foot.
“Nah he can lift his arms and take a deep breath. He’s good”
“Rub some dirt on it kid”
I mean he ain’t wrong. Taking a deep breathe with a fractured rib is very difficult and painful
If that were one of us, instant 60 day IL and he’s never the same again
That hits me in the face because I am a normal sized person.
the world like transportation and shelves are made for 5’8 to 5’10.
I was gonna say that’s not just 60 day that’s all days that’s a headshot I start speaking a different language
I was really short as a kid that I am just sort of thankful to be just over 5’8” which is neither short or tall. On 6’6” Bennett, that probably hits me between the sternum and nose.

must make it easy to wrangle wee wees when they’re already at eye level
Helicopter needed to airlift me out
John means ass injury
Tbf we’re down a SIGNIFICANT number of players, INCLUDING Crochet and Anthony.
Don’t need ‘em
I would die for Wilson Contreras
I love him…. just raises the kid’s arms… pats him…“You’re fine”. Heads back to first.
I was not expecting to love him as a red sock as much as I do.
same
Me too buddy
Well then you should, at minimum, learn to spell his name
you’d have to scrape me off the mound
Might as well just bury me there
Instantly vomiting if that happened to me
I, for one, would have simply died.
Hmmm, why was there a single batting cage at a golf course?
Just in case Jordan popped in…
“Awesome!”
I would simultaneously puke and shit myself
I’d be a goner if that happened to me.
Willson is a Sox legend already
That’s how you win 15 in a row
Ouch
He’s going to feel that next time he poops
Cold as fuck
Jake: Is the ball ok?
That’s why I don’t play baseball or jai alai
Ow you hit my belly! You hit the soft part of my belly!
Fucking OUCH
Going to see that in the morning lol
Like silly-putty pressed onto newspaper. A photorealistic imprint of the laces.
That’s one of those ones that doesn’t hurt too bad instantly but hurts alot when the bruising sets in… 5 minutes later.
If that was me I’m definitely taking a little lie down in the grass
lay down, maybe die a bit, who knows
I would take this before a ruptured testicle.
I would be dead
how come after they pitch they don’t immediately get into a catching position just because of the 1 in 200 times that the ball drills right for them
Watch some Greg Maddux highlights. He was always ready to field the ball. He also won 18 gold gloves.
I was only a kid when he was an active player so I didn’t remember much, but watching the highlights I recognize the delivery for sure. It brings up a few questions in my mind:
To me the overall delivery looks almost absurdly casual right up until his forearm turns into a rocket as it swivels downwards at the end, and his preparedness afterwards is very impressive. How unique is this style, both as a whole and if you break it down into parts some of those as well?
Ignoring the fielding benefits for the sake of discussion, do you think being so prepared has a ‘cost’ per se to his pitching performance in some way? Are there tangible benefits to a more ‘full’ delivery?
Watching other pitchers it seems like some of their deliveries essentially lock them out of being able to effectively react to the harder hit comebacks. Would you agree that is the case, and do you think an existing pro could adapt this style (at least in part, the preparedness part) elegantly with minimal/no performance loss, or is that post-release portion of the delivery something that shouldn’t be messed with once a style is developed.
Some of these questions might be nonsense/unanswerable, feel free to ignore if so.
Isn’t that how Greg Maddux won like a million gold gloves?
Probably because over the thousands of times they have done this motion over the course of their lives they never have.
Jake Bennett my mf dawg

I bet he’s gonna feel it later, though.
I remember Roy Halliday got smoked in the side of the head and still got the guy out at 1st.
Sept 8, 1990: Nolan Ryan took a Bo Jackson line drive to the face in the top of the second, fielded the ball for the out, finished the inning with his lower lip cut in half, had the team doctor stitch it up between innings, and CONTINUED PITCHING COVERED IN HIS OWN BLOOD THROUGH THE 8TH
This was inches away from being yet another “hit in the nuts” gem. There have been so many this year already.
