To this point this is all just posturing. GSW has to offer more than what WAS traded to DAL for AD for there to be a discussion. WAS has no incentive to take a loss (asset-wise) on AD. If GSW wants AD in order to get LeBron, they will have to overpay.

An extension at AD’s market rate would be a signal that they don’t believe in most of their pre-2026 draft classes. Total waste of a multi-year tank.

That all before throwing in that GSW wants AD to lure LeBron, so it’s expected that Washington could increase the asking price more, like OKC did for PG+Kahwi.

Nah they definitely should match AD instead of trading him now. Surely his value can only increase when he’s older and making even more money. And it’s not like they don’t have players who will soon be making considerably more money

I genuinely wonder if it has game played provisions. I think that is fair for both sides. If AD plays too many games then he deserves more, but if he plays fewer games then the team deserves less money.

So i wonder if there are likely and unlikely incentives and games played provisions that allows it to limit Washington’s risk, but still pays AD like he deserves when he DOES play. I also bet both want player and team options and they end up with no option. My guess is a shorter contract with provisions and that they pay a high amount to compensate AD for all those protections for the Wizards.

I could see him getting a max with a significant amount of the money tied to games played 

porzingis got 2 years-40 mil as a big man who can’t play games, AD’s injury issues aren’t as bad as Porzingis but i can’t imagine i’d be willing to give him that much more

Jimmy and picks I would guess. Jimmy is an expiring. Personally, I’d do it if I was the Wizards, but I’m very low on AD. He was not great for us even when he played, he’s lost a step clearly IMO.
