GeForce Hotfix Display Driver version 610.82
Time to Divine my driver
Vaal it or chicken!
heads up that a lot of people are reporting that hotfix driver is crashing when waking up a monitor and forcing a hard reset on their PC. If that doesn’t happen to you, great. Otherwise, might wanna wait for the next official release
I’m not sure if the forums differ, but I reviewed this thread and only saw one person complain and it looks to be potentially not driver related since they rolled back and are still experiencing the issue
only saw one person complain
I described the symptoms rather than the root cause because that wouldn’t mean anything to most POE2 players. There’s absolutely more than 1 report, even within that post.
Like I said, if you want to try it out, go for it.
Lmao. Yeah ill just update every 6 months like how ive been doing. Not gonna brick my pc beta testing
This is the way.
To update your GPU to new values, you can use Divine Orb.
maybe we should ask nvidia to fix the oath rune bug too 😂
5090018
Holy shit. If that’s the internal ticket tracking number for that bug report in Nvidia’s bug tracker… dam that bug has been in the tracker awhile now. Compare it to the ticket # for the Halo patch note.
If anyone tests it, please confirm it actually works
just did 10 maps with a bunch of monster spawning stuff (what typically crashed my game) and 0 issues. I also actually increased all my graphic settings and the game is running great.
Was your cache wiped out on the driver update though? Could the better performance just be a cleared cache and the issue may return again
I uninstalled yesterday oof
Thank you for your sacrifice!
Played for an hour without issue.
it worked for me, no more freezes on dx12. I was using Vulkan before.
Strange. Ever since 0.5.4c updated, this has happened less on my end. I’ve only gotten it once since. Curious how this pans out though. Waiting for people to test it out.
I haven’t had a single stall since then. I hope this new driver doesn’t brick it, I almost don’t even want to try it.
If it ain’t broke don’t fix it, esp drivers
I think this is bad advice in 2026.
What scenario would you want to change kernel level software when the primary use case is running adequately?
Same here. Prior to 0.5.4c would get the freeze into grinding gears recovery screen at least x3 times in 2-3hr evening session. Been surprisingly smooth since
For me it was the opposite, after 0.5.2 I started having issues very occasionally and after 0.5.4 It started to happen like every other map, sometimes 3 times in a single map.
Just comes to show how hard it is to balance and fix issues on PC games with some many hardware variations around the world.
Now I’m getting ready for poe1 launch, so I’ll not risk the hotfix patch update, but hopefully it becomes part of the next Nvidia App driver update and I get this then. Or manually by the next economy reset :)
My experience was crash to desktop circa 0.1, and then then they made it basically auto-restart where you’d get the pause and reload with the gears… That persisted up to 0.5.something, at which point that stopped happening and I got crash to desktop again. It forced me to quit the league because it was nearly every map.
I assumed they had disabled their reload code while nvidia wonks were working on diagnosing the problem.
The fact that a driver update fixes it suggests that it really was a bug in the nvidia driver, not some sketch UB that GGG was relying on.
I also assume GGG was fronting cash for nVidia to look into the issue. So I wonder what happens on the money side of things if it turns out it was just an nvidia bug all along. I imagine it’s not something they’ll elaborate on.
All my assumptions may be incorrect, of course…
Same. I also switched build from ice shot to twister, but no freezes since. Before i was getting freeze every 3⁄4 maps
Yeah, that last patch that added the new supporter packs almost completely fixed my issues. Used to freeze or even crash every single map. And now it’s maybe once or twice per tablet. Hey if this new patch makes it non existent then I’m happy
Well I’m still getting the freeze in GE’s every single map, so we’ll see how this new driver fares for me.
Mine got worse. Used to only be every few maps but now it’s every single map at least once, it’s my only consistent performance issue on this game so if this actually fixed it I am so fucking happy
Did you change mechanic? I feel like I got it all the time in expedition, but now I’m doing ritual because of oath bug, I get it way way less frequently.
I’ve gotten it 0 times, but I also haven’t been able to play due to regressions introduced by the “adds mtx only” patch 🤡
Oh really… that’s compelling. I’ve been playing on like 560-something for a few weeks and it has made poe nice and stable, but I would love it if an updated version actually worked.
Yeah I ended up just going vulkan route, the .560 rollback was making the rest of my computer suck.
I think also the shader cache size thing is a red herring. I ended up disabling the shader cache size entirely with vulkan and it made the game run way smoother.
But vulkan still sucks compared to dx12
What about vulkan sucks compared to dx?
tends to really bog down during high amounts of action on screen. You can also get micro stutters which can be killer (literally). DX12 is overall smoother if it didn’t have the dumb cog spinning.
I still haven’t been able to find an answer for this. Run the renderer that works well for your rig. As far as I can tell, people just prefer DX for whatever reason.
THANK YOU MANUEL!!!

Based Manuel.
Test it~ not going to mess my vulkan shaders and re-loading everything after if it doesn’t fix it.
Same
Gang, is there a way I can download this on CachyOS or will I have to wait?
Just wait. Manually installing drivers will only cause you pain and problems.
Maaaaaaaan ok ok you’re right
[Path of Exile 2] Fixed intermittent long pauses that could occur after extended gameplay sessions in DX12 mode [5090018]
POGGGGGG
It’s finally come! And so have I
SPREAD THE NEWS TO EVERYONE PLAYING POE2
HOOOOOLY FUCKING FINALLY AFTER ONE YEAR
Just tried 4 200% Deli abyss maps which used to guarantee at least 1 or 2 freezes and it was buttery smooth. No problems, looks like they’ve fixed it.
OMG
I’ll test tonight. I’ve got nothing to lose. I play a Spiritwalker zoo build, so I also have myself to b blame, but I have a two-gear stall every 30ish minutes, and at least one “deadlock” between CPU and GPU every two days.
Not that it matters, but it’s on a 5080/98003XD in a 2 radiator custom loop. No other game has pushed my GPU past 40 and CPU past 60, but this game THROTTLES temps, especially in the freezes and deadlocks.
No mention of shaders here, so we are still in perma-shader-loading hell?
Yay. There is a Santa Claus Virginia.
Is dx12 fixed with this update? I had to switch to vulkan due to crashing sometimes 2x a map!
That is the hope, yes. Seems to work for me.
Won’t install on my gtx 1070 ti
NVidia stopped providing the game ready driver updates for 10 series, it’s only security patches for us now.
Sucks, but I think 10 years is a pretty solid amount of time for driver support.
Vulkan has been running so well i almost dont want to try and vaal orb something lol. Anyone test yet?
I had no freezes after an hour of playtime with this driver. Doesn’t prove anything, but I’m hopeful.
Wow, I can actually play this league now
Did 8 maps after installing the hotfix. So far, so good
IT’S WORKING!!!!!
I’m going to test them right now to check that there aren’t glaring performance issues or anything similar, but I won’t have enough time to confirm that the cog freezes are definitely gone.
I hope someone else can give us feedback soon!
EDIT: I only had time for one single map. No cog freezes but I wasn’t having them every map before, so that was to be expected. Performance is the same I remember having with my previous drivers (some 590 version). Obviously, a very long initial loading screen and a few stutters here and there due to shader compilation due to driver change.
They seem safe enough to upgrade, but we’ll have to see if the freezes are really gone.
How’s it?
Seems good, see my edit above. As I said, I don’t have time today to confirm that the shader freezes are solved.
Nice, commenting to save for later
Hory sheit
Hmm, I’ll pop back in and try it. Vulkan was a good solution for me, but my performance was a bit lower so it wasn’t ideal
Hope they bring a new Studio driver soon with that fix implemented.
Wonder if they ended up having to ship them a PC to reproduce it
In one of the more recent interviews Jonathan said they did exactly this. Nvidia asked for a PC that would duplicate the issue and they shipped one.
I remember them talking about it, guess they went through with it
Back to dx12 goodbye Vulkan
Fuuuuuuuck. I just uninstalled today because I wanted to play new PoE league and didn’t have enough space.
1.0 READY! Lets goooooooooooooooooooo
after installing this there’s a lot of things i’m just not seeing at all. delirium shards, shrines, some mobs.
You need some time for shaders to recompile, maybe that is the cause
Yep, shader are recompiling like crazy…
pin for later
Funny how i told people Dx12 had issues and people just did not wanna use Vulkan even if it was superior and still is
Ran 10 maps with Zoo and arc totem build. Abyss and Deli 5x Juiced expedition. NOT ONE FREEZE!! (i was getting at least 1-2 per map) Finally I can join friends again for mapping.
I updated my game and it stopped crashing, no need for the driver.
So it’s finally over. I’m so glad
Dor me it’s fixed since last drive
This isn’t it ?
They speak about “extended gameplay” while it could occur completely randomly AND they mention only DX12 while it also occurs with other renderer ?
Patch notes are never perfect. But I definitely think OP is jumping the gun saying issue fixed just because of a patch note and not testing lol.. there could 10 different causes and this hotfix reduced it to 9 for all we know.
I had crashes on Vulcan on grand expeditions.
But i eventually found a fix. In you Windows System settings ->graphics -> advanced settings (my win is in german, so might be named slightly different) you can toggle off hardware accalerated GPU planning and my crashes were fixed. It did cost me like 30% of frames though.
I just ran a map with the hotfix nvidia dx12 and it ran pretty stable and i will try staying on dx12 for now
I have never once had it occur with any other renderer? Vulkan has its own set of issues.
I have also never had it occur in the early game either, so my guess is part of the reason they have had a hard time reproducing it, is you have to be in the later part of the game where many shaders are on screen at once, OR play for long enough for you to hit some predefined shader limit, causing the driver to hang, and until GGG added the “gearing” mechanic(which is literally restarting the renderer and redrawing the scene) it would just freeze the game/crash it.
Doesn’t happen on Vulkan for me
It was probably a driver bug, Vulkan and DX12 share no driver implementation they are 2 different ones
