[Price] “It would take something real for the Lakers to want to trade Bronny… they developed him, they’re a fan of him, and he has a lot of supporters in the building.”
Jokic for Bronny
throw in a second round pick and you’ve got yourself a deal
Second round pick for a second round pick. My fantasy football brain says this makes sense.
So you’re the guy sending me all these ridiculous trade offers!?! 😡
40th pick to be exact.
The big fat scary one in the 3rd row?
Hard pass. Unless Denver is willing to take Vando’s and Knecht’s salaries.
One second rounder for another. Bronny is so much younger though.
House, who hangs up first?
Who says no?
I see the vision
He’s a good fit with Austin Theory and Bron Breakker
Thon Maker in shambles
Bronny-son Reed
More like Bron’s-son Reed lol
I tried to edit it to that but my fingers stopped working lol
Absolutely nailed it lol
Stone Cold Austin 3:15*
Do you really? I don’t get to watch him as much as you do but he’s always seemed pretty far from even a limited rotation player
He was the 9th/10th guy against the rockets and looked alright. Pretty massive jump from his rookie year.
For a guy who’s 21 and not played a ton of college and up level basketball he’s improved a lot.
This + bronny as an 8th guy = highest bench jersey sales. Being honest he’s more valuable as an asset than just his literal on court value
21, cheap, athletic, plus defender, and his shot is coming around. Plus he has a great attitude.
I hope the lakers keep him.
Have you seen the 10th and 11th guys on rosters
Bronny is not tangibly worse than those guys in any way. He belongs on a roster
He’s a good shooter so far
He has a TS% of 51.7 last season. He is definitively not a good shooter even if you believe he shows potential.
You can’t take a sample size of his and say he’s not good (and the other way around too so we’re being fair). He’s simply not had enough minutes played, but his shooting is great in the g league, and his defense and willingness to be “just another guy” makes him worth keeping and further developing.
39% from 3 on 5.5 3PA/36
“Definitively not a good shooter” is just nonsense. You could say he’s not an efficient scorer, but he clearly has shooting ability.
How has Dalton looked? After the reversed trade the guy seemed like a shell of himself
Terrible. Praying the lakers trade him
DK’s problem isn’t even his shooting (which is also been so ass)
He just can’t seem to remember any schemes or even sets ran for him. It’s tragic how much JJ wants him to succeed but he just can’t
4 years of going to school but not classes lol
He’s looked horrible
His rook season he was really good. Once the trade for Williams got turned down (which he was included in) he went off the cliff. It sucks because he showed amazing potential, particularly as a shooter. He has since regressed to almost unplayable status.
Dude was playing out of his mind first part of his rookie season. It blows my mind that Bronny might end up being a better rotation player than him.
Yeah! I don’t pretend to know anything about the rookie classes coming in (I don’t pay attention to College/HS hoops). But everything I read regarding him, was that he was supposed to be a higher pick, but somehow fell down to us. His value had been his shooting…but man, he can’t hit the broad side of a barn even if he is wide open. That trade really took the wind out of his sails.
He was straight ass before the trade outside of 3 games
The trade was never the problem. His shooting splits pre-trade were worse than his shooting splits post-trade. His problem is that he can’t stay on the court because he doesn’t shoot remotely well enough to overcome being a bottom 5 defender in the NBA.
He’s making solid strides with what little time he gets
My biggest issue w Bronny has always been confidence. He’s a completely different player in the nba vs the G league. Like he’s afraid to make mistakes. He probably won’t get as much run as sexton early in the season but I can definitely see Bronny eating his minutes if he plays well
Hey this is interesting. I’ve kind of literally never seen Bronny play. BUT. If I was playing next to my all time great dad who got me on this team I would be p afraid to make mistakes as well. Maybe playing on a different team than LeBron will help w confidence honestly as much as anything
When the Lakers were lacking depth, he looked like a good potential piece to develop.
But the new roster is way deeper now, I doubt he will get any serious playing time. Of course that will depend if the roster depth is real and all the guys we got would atleast play to their expected levels.
I might be in the minority of Lakers fans, but I don’t think he’s had enough serious minutes to justify this level of praise. He needs to get much better as a ballhandler and shooter before you can really justify him getting real rotation minutes, and I don’t really see him developing much more. Happy to be proven wrong though.
I will say I’m happy we picked him and I think he’s definitely outperformed expectations.
It seems to me like his biggest issue with ball handling isn’t the technical aspect but rather him not being used to the intense defensive pressure in the NBA. It’s not only his handles that take a hit when he’s playing against proper defenders, it’s also his decision making. In my opinion, it’s not impossible to see him improve this aspect if he gets more game time the next season or two.
He’s got some pretty good defense. There’s some simple plays like DHOs that he just cannot do for whatever reason.
Sells tickets at least maybe?
He’s got far more promise than Knecht at least
LeBron going back to the Lakers would be hilarious at this point
We have Lebron James at home already
LeBron, we’re good. We have LeBron.
Streets aren’t ready for that conversation
Streetlights over spotlights.
Honestly this team fits him better than any other team now. Its full of shooters.
No team fits him better than the Spurs
I think there is no way LeBron would go to a city where there isn’t a lot of stuff for him to do. He has talked about it many times before.
Hmmm, what if they give him free netflix, free spotify, free youtube premium, and free cookies?
lebron is so cheap he wont use mobile data while on his Yacht.
If all he wants to do is ring chase, then sure. It definitely wouldn’t be “his team” though and that might be viewed as a knock against his legacy if he does win a ring there, assuming he cares about that.
To be clear I think it’s dumb to look at it the way I described and think we often overlook context for other players, like Jordan who played on absurdly stacked teams largely due to Pippen’s stupid financial decision signing a 7 year 18 million dollar deal that had him as the 122nd highest player at one point while still in his prime.
Deadass his best option I can’t even lie (and we have a Bron sized hole in our starting 5 rn)
“They took my son hostage.”
It could happen. Him telling the Lakers he was leaving was just that, words. He comes back, signs a minimum for two years straight on the promise that they would give Bronny a Joe Smith contract after 3 years. The ultimate 5D giga-brain of cap circumvention moves.
I cannot lose two LeBrons.
“I’m back”
Nepo hire. They’re only signing this old geezer because of his son.
Le Switcheroo - sign and trade Bron for Bronny
We have a massive, gaping hole at starting power forward lol
The funny thing is that LeBron leaving the Lakers will actually be the best thing for Bronny’s game in LA.
Absolutely. Lebron is well known for holding back future Dellys and Boobies and the like.
You take that slander back from our lord and savior Dellavedova.
Lebron for Lebron who says no?
The Lakers, what if their LeBron develops into a great player like LeBron some day?
A LeBron is a LeBron, but a LeBron Jr can be anything, even a LeBron!
LeBron would say yes, but LeBron would probably say no
The jizz king
The first Lebron vs Bronny matchup will be historic. Lakers will keep Bronny just for that street cred.
Now if Lebron posterizes Bronny, maybe Lakers reconsider and trade Bronny away.
If he dunks on his son the sub will shut down
Lowkey I always sus this was why he demanded the Lakers draft his kid, tried to keep family dinners peaceful lmao
Would Bronny really let his dad son him like that?
What if Bronny dunks on his dad?
Shut down the nba
BLOCKED BY JAMES!
your guess is as good as mine with regards to the specifics
I feel like part of this is they don’t want to make it look *so* obvious Bronny was only on the team because of his dad. At the same time he is probably better than most people think
Doing the good work of upping his value when they inevitably trade him to the team LeBron signs with.
If I’m Bronny that’s the last thing I would want. He made huge strides last year and showed that he belongs in the league and can be rotational player if his 3 ball keeps improving. Getting traded to wherever his dad goes undoes all of that and that narrative will always be stuck to him.
Yeah. He got to play with his dad. Literally made lifetime memories going on a run with his dad in the playoffs en route to winning a series.
I’m sure he loves those moments but social media heads have to remember he’s his own person and regardless of whatever aid being lebron’s son has provided him, there’s zero chance any well raised child (now adult) would want their career to be shackled to their parents.
I wonder if this whole Lebron saga because he’s trying to get the team he goes to to trade for bronny and they won’t do it
He played key playoff minutes, and showed flashes of being a genuinely solid 3 and D guard all while being 21 years old. He’s also athletic for his size.
What incentive do the Lakers have to get rid of one of the best POA defenders when they’re defensively challenged?
Bronny isn’t a gimmick, I think he’s a solid young player that deserves some credit and respect
He played 5 mpg in the playoffs my guy. Don’t disagree that there is something there but let’s not overdo it. He’s on the path to potentially becoming a solid role player, but given that’s his ceiling it would make sense to trade him if a good opportunity came up
What do you have against our clearly elite generational talent and one of the best POA defenders to ever step foot onto the hardwood?
Delusions aside, there’s a small chance that one day he will be nba-ready (or at least maybe we can convince another team he is) but in the meantime, cash in on them merch sales 👏👏
i feel like he is NBA ready hes performing as his draft number is expected to, already too good for the g league, getting bench minutes in the nba
he’s a late second round pick. I’m wondering what people expected of him? Most second round picks never play significant NBA minutes.
Nobody else is going to seek him out or offer anything of real value for him alone. He might make a trade package work, and I’m sure the front office would consider that. But there’s probably little value in shopping him around right now.
His 42 minutes and 10 shots has really shown us everything we’ll ever need to see
He is NOT one of the best POA defenders lmao. He has the same defensive rating as Luka. I love seeing people comment narratives when I know they haven’t actually watched him play
How about Lebron asking politely kind of incentive?
He played real minutes in like 3 games and got non-garbage time 2nd half minutes one time
That’s 50% of the rockets series lol
Good enough for a 55 pick with some upside that makes peanuts
3pt shot is decent enough, if he can consistently be alright defending PGs (his weight helps, he wont be easily knocked around and can go through screens) he will have some time playing alongside either Luka or Austin, neither of which can defend the point but act as a PG on offense.
If he can crack the top 9 or so in the rotation regularly he will probably get quite a few more years in the league. Probably wont last much past 30 though.
Lot better of a FT shooter than Lebron.
Entering his 3rd season, so this is the time hopefully he can make a jump to rotation player. Unless he becomes a really good Point of Attack player or shoots above 40% on volume, he isn’t going to be more than a 8th man kind of guy if he doesn’t learn to use his body better to to create space for shots around the rim.
Right now his career trajectory feels like that of Aaron Holiday
Kid sells a shit ton of merch. Why give up a money printing machine you could play in garbage time for nothing?
Yup. What many are missing. For end of bench players he generates significantly more revenue versus a replacement. He also has some upside and can play in certain situations.
Indeed. That was my thought. He generates value well beyond his salary and draft position.
Worth keeping around even if they have to slightly overpay him on his next contract.
Would be hilarious though if he got traded to Memphis. Lebron would have to actually visit the city occasionally.
He’s also not any worse than the other 14/15th men on a roster. Are we trying to say Garrett Temple is noticeably better than Bronny? No shot.
Also is the only player cheered in every arena
Must be kept at least for vibes
Nah foreal, crowds absolutely love this kid. You can feel how much they want him to score when he gets the ball. Everyone loves a good underdog after all
And I think it’s gonna shock a lot of fans but he’s going to be genuinely competing for guard minutes with Manon and Carr
Manon won’t be getting any minutes, and Bronny is NOT going from mostly bench to rotational player on one summer
We played Gabe Vincent 20 minutes a game
Yea that #9 James Jr. jersey is dope.
Does he really? I can’t remember seeing someone in a bronny jersey
Really? I see them pretty regularly in LA
A few months after he was drafted, he apparently brought in 50 mil (500k jerseys) of sales.
I really doubt he moves the needle that much for a franchise like the Lakers. Those fans would still be buying Luka or AR jerseys if Bronny wasn’t there.
I think him playing well in that 1st round series against Houston kinda confirmed his spot.. he’s legit an nba guy, he just gotta keep getting his confidence up and tighten up his handle
Wouldn’t be surprised if he makes a jump without LeBron on the team, assuming he gets minutes. Being literally sonned / lil bro-ed by everyone on the biggest NBA franchise would have affected his confidence.
Yea, seemed like he was afraid to fuck up when his pops was there.. We’ll see tho
I’d imagine he’ll have a nice 7-10 year career in the NBA as a backup. Incredibly respectable
And it’s well beyond what you’d normally expect from a late 2nd round pick. If you stay in the league at all being drafted that low, you’ve statistically performed above average for the draft position.
I’ve said this multiple times, but he’s already had a great return for the team. Merch sell is great, kept lebron happy for another year, he seems to vibe well with the team, and looks like he can contribute off the bunch on occasion.
Insane posturing lmao
I mean i rather keep him than say Knecht or vando. He aint that bad and prob has a better future skillset than Knecht
He is cheap, a good athlete, and a good teammate with a good work ethic.
It is very feasible to see him develop into a Marcus smart type player if his shot developz
lol what the fuck are you smoking? Marcus Smart has always been a guy. Fuck outta here
lmao marcus literally has a DPOY what the fuck is this guy talking about
He said type player. Meaning skillset. Nobody said anything about a dpoy. U can compare players skill sets without saying one is better than the other or whatever
He literally said “type player”
Can you guys read?
6th overall pick vs a a guy who was drafted purely for nepotism
His career averages are 10.5⁄4.4⁄3.4 going 32% from 3 and averaging 1.6 steals per game.
That doesn’t seem like a crazy ceiling to forecast for a player my guy lol
C’mon we all know Marcus Smart’s impact goes beyond numbers.
Lottery pick, all-rookie, DPOY Marcus smart that is
Smdh. People really just say the wildest shit sometimes.
You guys are acting like smart averages a triple double with 3 steals/blocks per game lol
Great player, but you guys are exaggerating lol
[removed]
Based on …..?
Vibes
I’d be happy if he turned into Avery Bradley. Marcus Smart is a reach.
Avery Bradley!?! Just stop already
Are you by chance GM of the Mavs?
If you said that about any other average defender with 600 total minutes in 2 seasons that averages <3 ppg on way below average efficiency you would be called an idiot. It is technically possible he could do it but in the same way that Wiseman might make a comeback and be an all star this year.
Inb4 waived
[Price] is not right
Random podcast featuring random guest
They’re actually the midday show on the new Audacy sports station in LA similar to WFAN here in NYC
Bronny conversations are very weird, hes a young, slightly better than a 2-way guy who also sells a lot of jerseys.
And he makes around what a 2 way player makes if they get in a bunch of games so hes not overpaid at all.
Why would the Lakers want to trade that?
He has no offense
Lakers really trying to get something of value back from the team that has to trade for him.
“Bronny? Ha” phone clicks
True untouchable
Seriously though, the kid has shown more progression and clearer path of progression than DK.
He is the type of player that teams will want in the new cba, good defenders at a low price and young
His 3pt shoot has improved too
Man Bronny’s PR team is really doin work in this thread
No team in the league would give up a single asset to get him outside of a request from LeBron. He is better than a random 2nd round pick but not by enough that you would give up the chance to really hit on one.
A GM that trades a real pick for LeBron James Jr is only doing so under direct orders from his father
They’re just saying this so the team LeBron goes to has to pay up for Bronny
they are gonna retire his number after his dad leaves
His value is not even a 2nd round pick.
I don’t think he really has the talent to ever be a good NBA player but I’m rooting for him. Him becoming a legit role player would really prove a lot of people wrong
They’re holding his son hostage. Lmao.
AR and Luka probably making him pose for proof of life photos with today’s paper as a gag.
Pretty sure Klutch is somehow responsible for this narrative that Bronny is a good defender when there is no metric to back that up
who are any of these people, this seems more like an opinion then fact
I bet one 2nd round pick gets it done lol
Lmfao
Bronny, Vanderbuilt, Cook, Walton and 2 SRPs for Watson. Make it happen, Mitch.
I like bronny. He isnt the worst player on this team
He scores one bucket a game, what are we talking about?
He’s young, on a good contract, and has shown solid progress. No reason to not keep developing him
If he plays defense and hustles hard, he will certainly earn his place.
As opposed to something imaginary
So the negotiations begin.
not moving Bronny unless they get a real star calibre player back
Developed what exactly?
Developed his money
lol. Lol. LOL
Fuck that
Lakers shamelessly trying to raise Bronny’s stock before they trade him lol?
As a longtime fan, I think among Dalton, Vanderbilt, and Bronny, Bronny would probably be the last one to go. You can tell the Lakers, whether correctly or not, do value him as a development project. However, if Matisse or Zaire pan out with us, Bronny could be the odd one out eventually…
real like his dad leaving to another team and telling a GM to trade for him?
Wish they had that same attitude with Caruso, someone who actually already helped you win a title. Let him walk when he was willing to take less from an already steal of a deal with Chicago.
“It would take something real for the Lakers to want to trade Bronny.”
Like a team actively wanting to trade for Bronny.
Bronny to the heat so he can continue developing under Spo.
He makes $$$ for lakers
Why do they want me, man?
Pack of Big League chew should do it. Pelinka would eat that up like groceries
Who are these random people. Ive been following the Lakers for 20+ years I’ve never heard of this guy.
A second round and they will ship him no doubt
Imagine wanting Bronny, but not Bron. This fucking timeline, man.
(until LeBron leaves)
But why, he is exactly the sub replacement level kind of player you let go in favor of someone who at least still has the potential to become really useful.
Hyping up his value since Lebron will want him wherever he goes. Might squeeze two seconds out for him.
Uh huh I’m sure they’re fighting off teams left and right for Bronnys services
Delusion at it’s peak
Nepo baby needs to nepo and he cant do that unless hes in LA.
Next.
How bout tree fiddy?
He had very little development time in college. He has the right attitude. He has the athleticism, just not the size. He needs a confidence breakout, which could happen once the shadow of his dad is gone. It would look bad if the Lakers gave up on him right before that happened.
Alex Curry jump scare. Her opinions are trash
Austin reeves just signed the Supermax, who better to hand him his water and towel
I honestly don’t know what people expected of Bronny. He was always projected as a defensive-first high IQ role player and he’s perfectly capable of achieving that. Don’t know why so many are itching to have him traded away before he’s had a chance to develop.
I’m impressed by him. Works super hard, continues to improve, doesn’t engage with all the hate, keeps a smile on his face, supports his teammates, and is more mature about it all than most any NBA player or celebrity for that matter. Compare that to Kevin Durant’s petulant whining.
