Bucks wanted four firsts, JB, Hugo, Schierman, and a potential pick swap. The two sides were nowhere close, and even reporting close to the deadline for Giannis to extend said Boston hadn’t made a new offer in two weeks. The only reason Hugo gets pulled out of the 3-4 assets that the Celtics refused to give up as a whole is because idiots on YouTube, Instagram, and Reddit see one name and run with it as their running gag. In reality, it wasn’t Hugo, it was about selling the entire farm

We offered 2 FRP’s, so they wanted at minimum 3 FRP’s, 2 swaps, hugo/baylor AND two of walsh/rhj/pritchard.
Then also keep in mind we got 2 FRP’s and 2 2nd’s for JB and they would’ve traded him, because that was the point of asking for all the other shit haslam wanted to have a haul remaining outside of JB.
So in total after trading JB they couldve received 5 FRP’s, 2 2nd’s, 2 swaps, paul george a season away from being on an expiring and could easily be used in a 3 teamer for more picks, hugo/baylor and two of walsh/rhj/pritchard.
That’s an insane overpay for an over 30 year old giannis who has missed games in 60% of his playoff runs this decade.
Considering the haul Miami ended up trading, I think what you’re saying, is quite plausible. I said “rumor”. I was relaying what I read, not being sarcastic.
Given Giannis said, he wanted to go somewhere warm, I believe the Bucks were using us as leverage to extract the most value out of Miami as they could. Miami made a big gamble by trading away their future, it will be interesting to see how it pans out.

It wasn’t Mazz icing him at all. Going into the Playoffs.. the team decides who are our rookie/second year players.. who are going to participate in the team facilitated, over-the-summer development program.
The program includes the Vegas Summer League, as well as a regimented workout program, etc. That starts as soon as the regular season ends. This past year there were three players coming off the regular season roster, including Hugo.
Now those players suit-up and are technically capable of playing. Though the game-plan definitely doesn’t include them playing at all, and they would have been doing relatively intense development workouts earlier that day.
Gotta stand around and jack 3s, don’t you understand modern analytics?

Yeah I’ve been spending the offseason saying Hugo needs to get his 3 pt shot up to a reliable 34% or so but he’s also useful for downhill pressure like this. It’s going to require him to make better and crisper reads and decisions to pass out of a collapsing paint.
Still if he’s athletic and creative enough to just take a lane and finish he can do a lot of us in the meantime
