Okay that was so nonchalant too.
damn, turns out he was supposed to be the next Ronaldo but chose the wrong sport

A true LeBron James of..of..FEET
didnt he also was like solo digits handicap in golf after only a few months, maybe basketball isnt the sport with the most talent for hiim
Thereās probably a dozen or so NBA players with single digit handicaps.
Thereās probably not a single pro golfer that can dunk.
Several dozen NBA players probably.
There are a couple of really tall blokes on the PGA tour too.
I think I’d take that bet. Golfers are no crazy athletes, but they are more athletic than you think and they all workout now. Surely there’s 3-4 that can get it done.
I knew a guy in college who became a PGA tour caddie for quite a few years. No clue if the golfers he worked with could dunk but I know the caddie could. Guy was maybe 5ā11 too.
Dustin Johnson can dunk. Dude was prob the freak athlete of all pga tour players.
Thereās also a massive gap between single digit handicap and like a plus 7 handicap where pros sit around
For sure.
But I think whoever the best golfer in the NBA is, is a lot closer to the worst PGA pro.
Than whoever the best basketball player on the PGA is to the worst player in the NBA.
People always underestimate how far away a decent handicap is from being a pro in golf. Pretty sure you need to be low single digits to even make D3 golf. Then consider golf has a huge talent pool of people, likely much much larger than basketball and you need to be like top200 to have a chance at a card. Which is less than half the amount of NBA players.Ā
Wait, so you’re counting all of the 35+ year old people who play golf, which is for sure the wide majority of all golfers, as the talent pool for golf?
Do you think that participation in golf between 6 and 30 years old is greater or less than participation in basketball at those ages?
Pro golfers are taller than the average population, Relatively young and probably also more athletic because drive distance does matter.
IDK how many can dunk but obviously some can https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nr_9EBe0CI0
We have SO MANY kids playing the wrong sport. Especially right now.
I always think about how good the US soccer team could be if all these kids playing basketball picked up soccer too. Like thereās so many kids with elite athleticism but then they never make the NBA just because they arenāt tall enough. Just wasting good athletes
Not basketball, but IIRC Odell Beckham Jr got invited to try out for the US national youth team when he was a teenager, but turned it down because it would have taken his time away from football
Really?? I posted on another thread that some of these elite NFL WRs like Beckham or Chase could have been world class soccer players if that’s the path they took. They have a great height/weight ratio, plus their athleticism and overall body coordination would be a perfect fit.
Exactly like imagine Antonio Brown playing soccer since he was a kid.
Turned it down to grind from the rap
Basketball athleticism doesn’t necessarily translate well to soccer athleticism. There’s less emphasis on explosive power and short bursts of energy in soccer, much more on continuous low and moderate exertions. One is anaerobic-focused, while the other is aerobic-focused.
There’s also the issue that if you’re prioritising athleticism, you’re missing the development time of soccer. You only start to see who will be really athletic as puberty hits and muscle development progresses, by which time it is too late to become an elite soccer player. If you don’t have the foundation of ball control, passing, movement, shooting, and dribbling by the time you’re 12, forget about it. Soccer is incredibly reliant on creating the foot-eye coordination at a very early age.
The only way for the US to use their population size to their advantage would be to scrap pay-to-play and have EVERY KID playing soccer from an early age, so that by the time these kids hit puberty, they can combine their growing athleticism with the soccer skills they already possess.
You are half right. Football has extreme explosiveness as well, it just doesn’t stand out unless there is a rare talent who has somehow made it up there on skill alone and you can see dramatic difference in speed.
Footballers have extreme explosiveness over small distances in multiple directions. But you are right that basketball doesn;t translate and some positions need to be far fitter than others.
You are right if you don’t start playing at 4 you won’t be any good though.
Yes obviously you canāt just pivot to soccer at 18 when you realize you wonāt be tall enough for the nba. But if kids played both from an early age the athleticism would definitely carry over. Jokic has said several times he credits his great footwork to his past playing soccer. Obviously in his case he ended up over 7 ft so basketball was the clear choice but for most kids it would be the opposite.
I dunno. Weāre not getting out played physically. Weāre getting out played skill wise - which points to failures in our player development not selecting for the wrong players.
Itās valuing athleticism and physicality at a young age when technical ability is far more important. If you donāt have confidence with the ball at your feet, can dribble in tight spaces, make accurate one touch passes while being closed down, etc, your physicality and athleticism wonāt matter. Top club academies identify these skills in kids who are like 6.
It wouldn’t change that much.
American “soccer” has a lot of issues, because you have a completely different development process than in Europe, and it’s basically paywalled.
In Europe, top clubs recruit young talented players at a very young age. Most start playing in clubs at 8-10y. The club usually also pays for most of the talent’s expenses. Kinda like a scholarship, but on a way bigger scale.
Kids learn about tactical and technical stuff in Europe early on. Which is actually something that is being criticized in Europe, because modern players sometime feel more like machines, and lack the creativity of players, who are not systematically brought up at a very young age.
American soccer is incredibly expensive, with less money invested into their systems and making it affordable.
That’s why most of your players are physically on the “European” level, but almost none of your players have the ball IQ or technical ability to play at the highest level.
Pulisic is probably your most successful player in Europe, and he isn’t close to being a top 100 player, imo.
Americans when they see a football kicked 8ft
American here who played both soccer and basketball in hs
Kicking a ball in basketball shoes suuuucks
Gotta wear indoors if you’re gonna do something like this
Damn. Would have been super cool had he picked soccer growing up. No way heād ever live up to his name in basketball, but could have been a decent soccer player maybe.
Solid first touch, kicked it with the inside of his foot, and in awful shoes for kicking a ball… he’s for sure played some soccer at some point in his life.
First touch got me. Didn’t expect that. I’m old now, and it’s easy to forget that in school, the athletes who are great at one sport, are usually still really good at a bunch of others. They just possess superior coordination to the rest of us.
I now want to see Bronny get a chance to scrimmage with one of the European clubs. See what his footy game looks like when he’s actually trying to play that sport.
He would get smoked.
100% but it woulda been nice to see what Bronny coulda been if he been playing since his teens
By their teens most of the players at the top European academies are already better than most American pros.
When I was 13 I was listening to NPR in my parent’s car, it was a story about this kid my age from Argentina who had just signed with Real Madrid Barcelona. His whole family moved continents for him to play soccer at such a young age because he was special and sure enough, in a few hours we get to watch him try and win another World Cup.
Unless I’m blanking on someone, you’re talking about Messi and he very famously played for Barcelona not Real Madrid.
Ah, you’re right. Too early for me.
It happens but it very funny, would be like someone from Spain saying a long time ago they heard about a high school kid being drafted by the Celtics and now they watched him win 5 wins including a three peat with them.
What are you on. He has spent his life being a basketball player under the guide of LeBron James.
Theres nothing to see here that indicates he would have a higher ceiling in football against the other 300 million people playing around the world.
Football is not basketball. It is much more competitive game. You cannot be someone like Embiid in basketball and start playing it in your teens (Embiid started at 15) and make it big lol.
It does not rely that much on pure physical attributes, but skill.
It’s more like just how basketball has height/athleticism as a barrier to entry football you need to be in an academy from the age of 6.
Having said that you aren’t getting as good as someone like Steph unless you are playing from age 6 either. There’s never going to be some 6 foot PG that picked up the game at 15 making the NBA.
But yeah it’s not a matter of it being more competitive it just relies less on athleticism and more on technical skills/tactics.
Having said that you aren’t getting as good as someone like Steph unless you are playing from age 6 either. There’s never going to be some 6 foot PG that picked up the game at 15 making the NBA
yeah, if you want to be as skilled as Tim ‘Mr Fundamental’ Duncan, you can never just pick up the game at 14 and make the NBA
He would get demolished, be serious for a minute
Yeah, i would also love to see ronaldo play a scrimmage with a nba team to see what his basketball skills look like when trying to play that sport, do you realize how dumb you sound
Maybe semi-professional leagues but definitely not a pro one.
Maybe we arenāt sending our best after all
Imagine bronny is a soccer prodigy but felt obligated to follow his fatherās footsteps.
you will take over the family business Bronny…
Even left la to bronny
we now have LeBron and LABron
“we don’t need LeBron we already have LukA and LAbron at home”
“But dad I want to follow my dreams of being the best striker in the world!”
“No Bronny. Soccer will not get you to being a billionaire.”
“It’s FOOTBALL dad!”
See, MJs sons were actually baseball prodigies but he didn’t let them play.
MJs son lost my university’s shoe sponsorship bc he refused to wear any shoe other than Jordans and then we still stank š
Thatās a reasonable stand for him to take, but I feel like thereās a lot of times that shouldāve been flagged prior to him joining the team
āHey is the kid willing to wear adidas over the shoes his dad grew to one of top brands in the sport?ā
āYea probably donāt even askā
LeHardest road
šÆ our best athletes go into football or basketball
LeMessi
I mean hes Ronaldo height with like a 42” vertical and fast af. He would already be one of the most athletic soccer players in the world, without even training for the sport.
Yeah he’s actually a crazy athlete when it comes to measurables. LeBron definitely passed his genes to him except the height.
Bronny would be perceived differently at 6ā5-8 thatās for sure
Well he would also perform differently at 6ā5-8 so the perception would improve accordingly
Even at 6ā2, I still think he can have a decade-long career as a defensive focused back-up PG.
For sure, itās a well duh comment basketball wise just a shame that his dadās height didnāt transfer over.Ā
Bronny has hops too, he would be a fun player at 6ā8
He still has heart issues which may be worse if he was any taller cause the hearts gotta pump blood that much farther away
I remember when some NFL players were talking about the NBA and were like āno one in the NFL could play in the NBA. if they could they wouldā due to the amount of stress the NFL puts on your body. Think about the freak athletes in the NFL; the NBA is wild
That and the average NBA salary is almost \(12m/year while the average NFL is like \)3.2m/year
Not tryna be a jerk, but average NFL salary is that low because some positions do much less than others. There will be a backup, and a backup to a backup that gets paid even less. NFL rosters will have ~50 players, including cheap ass teams. Not that fair to compare them imo
Charlie Ward made the best decision.
These things have a very weak correlation with being good at the sport
don’t waste your time, they will never get it. you had the fastest man in history give it a legit shot and he couldn’t make it even in a shit league because the technique just wasn’t there.
He would already be one of the most athletic soccer players in the world
Sometimes americans ask why everyone clowns on them and doesnt take them seriously.
Lmaooooooo
We needed you against Belgium, Bronny
That first touch in those shoes was more tech than the entire USMNT showed that game lmao
lmao whatās so annoying is youāre right
Lebron James Jr. - Lebron James of soccer
Perfect height and frame to play center back instead of Tim Ream
Perhaps Bronny might be playing the wrong sport. 6’0-6’1 built like a brick shit house like him can really be lethal in soccer/football.
Yea, with decent foot speed too. He could be a lethal striker if these traits align
Lebron buys an MLS team and plays goalie with Bronnie in there too. Just start playing new sports.
by age 65 he’s won mvp in seven different sports
This is like looking at Djokovic scoring easy threes in an empty gym and saying he could be a pro basketball player.
I’m just saying bro has the athletic build for it - plus, it’s not like these guys can’t ever try to learn the sport either (altho with probably less results). If AI could be an elite QB and Timmy’s an olympic swimmer level athelete - I’m pretty sure plenty of the guys in the NBA coulda played other sports at the elite level but chose to hoop instead.
If you don’t start playing soccer at 6 you won’t make it to the big leagues.
He’s also got like a 42” vertical. He might need to lose some muscle though, hes like 205lbs at 6’1-6’2 which is how much Haaland currently weighs at 6’5.
Ronaldo is like 180.
Damn, no wonder Bronny is brickwall. 6’1-2 205lbs?
Small guards like Brunson are 6ā1 190. Americaās height and weight scale is just different than the rest of the world. Unless youāre 220+, you are fairly small for an American athlete.
āAmericaās height and weight scale is just different than the rest of the world.ā
Outside of athletics, this just means āpeople in the US are obeseā
As it turns out, athletes can be good at a variety of sports with properly training
lol if only soccer was that simple
That was actually impressive, and even how he stopped the ball. Is Bronny the next Pele?
1st touch as they say
Maradona. Hand of LeGod
That camera guy has to walk in front of bronny right at contract with the ball
The first touch is pretty standard for anyone that has played the sport. The shot in those shoes is nice.
The first touch is how you know someone has actually played. Itās like you can tell if someone plays basketball by how they dribble.
Okay. Who knew?
Thatās dope.
Even though I’m not from the USA, it doesn’t surprise me. Natural athlete and most kids play soccer starting in elementary school because it’s the easiest sport to start, resource and skill wise.
Starting soccer at a young age isnāt extremely common in the US, although it is Bronny so who knows what his athletic upbringing looked likeš¤·āāļø
Not even joking, between his insanely smooth golf swing after only playing a year or two, this touch and top bins, and being 6ā1/6ā2 with his bounce he might be getting close to Mookie Betts levels of all around athlete
Remember after the draft he won the COD tourney lolĀ
Love a true can-do-anything freak athlete. Joe Mauer was a first overall pick and won an MVP in the majors and was also the top football recruit in the country and an all state basketball player. And heās a 4 handicap golfer. I just Googled āJoe Mauer bowlingā out of curiosity and heās rolled a 265 game at some charity event. And just for the hell of it heās also a beer league level hockey player and plays in a regular pond hockey game with a bunch of NHL players at Justin Morneauās house. Some people just have it. Danny Ainge was the same way.
Bro needs to consider a slight change in career paths š¤£
Put all the pro athletes kids in soccer. Project freeman. Unlimited resources minimal risk. For every steph curry we lose, we gain 10 soccer superstars
Blue lockĀ
I agree, Soccer should be a popular sport for the youth in US more than some others. I know Football is the sport most youth play if they are under 6’3, but if more people played soccer, we could really see some crazy talent and athleticism coming into US soccer.
I for one am not putting my kids in football.
Coaching needs to emphasize technical ability at a young age and let the athleticism come later. To produce elite level talent, kids need to be confident on the ball when theyāre like 6 years old.
Unfortunately soccer in the US is seen as a sport that rich kids play, and people dont see soccer as a way out compared to basketball or football.
Itās not just seen as a rich kids sport, it just was. American soccer was insanely expensive long before the other sports caught up in price
Only team sport I was interested in playing was soccer and my family was way too poor to get me entered in the US
Meanwhile my cousins in Brazil are playing on futsal and football leagues all the time no problem as a kid. Really sucks.
Gotta revamp the whole system, better coaches, all that pay to play shit. Donovan had an interview with Rich Eisen that details a bit more how frustrating it is from his POV.
I like soccer but why should we do this? What do we gain? Bragging rights every 4 years? If the greater population doesn’t like soccer then there’s no monetary benefit for anyone which is what motivates this country.
Its the biggest sport in the world there is a massive monetary benefit in having our players and league be more central to it
in bad shoes for it too. that was clean as fuck.

Alternate timeline lebron isnāt so focused on playing with his son and Bronny ends up an elite striker playing rn in the World Cup
My goat tbh
He has 50 percent of LeBron’s DNA. Maybe in another universe, Bronny is a Mbappe Haaland combo
When he lines up to take the picture with the kid at the end he looks just like young bron man
Bronny with his size and athleticism could have been nasty on the pitch if that’s the sport they chose but I’m sure in that house you’re hooping lol
Lebron has been pretty open about the fact that he doesn’t care if his kids don’t like basketball.Ā
That’s pretty cool honestly and a good dad move but I just feel like Lebron James jr was playing basketball no matter what lol
Yeah, thereās gotta be a crazy amount of pressure, even unspoken. Unless Bronny had a therapist telling him āyou donāt need to hoopā starting in the womb, this was the expected outcome
The Luka lob to Bronny bicycle kick in game 7 next season is gonna be š„š„š„.
Iām not gonna lie the guy with the camera kind of ruined it
Thank you for being honest
The national team needs you. Pulisic ain’t shit.
That guy in front of the camera before that kick…š
Lebron gonna say he always knew Bronny could make it in soccer
Kid is a super underrated athlete. Saw one of his combine videos and heās fast as fuck. I think most of us here would be stoked to be 60% of the athlete Bronny is
Heās also got a beautiful golf swing and his game is incredible after only playing a few months, which is absolutely insane.
Saw Bronny’s golf swing the other day. Now this. Basketball might be his worst sport.
He looks just like LeBron with the new haircut.Ā
USMNT salivating right now
maybe he really is the prince that was promised, shoulda choose football (soccer) instead

Too bad Trinity Rodman is dating a pro tennis playerāimagine a hypothetical grandchild of LeBron and Rodman growing up a wealthy soccer player in the US.
Should’ve pushed for fulbol career instead. He has a great size and athleticism suitable for the soccer
He could’ve been the LeBron James of soccer
Put him in Europe. Heāll make millions and his footwork looks solid, he could be a fantastic wingback.
Bruh I hope you’re joking but I would like to see more American athletes who already grow up as multi sport athletes start including Soccer in their arsenal.
Imagine if he was put in an academy instead of going for the NBA.
Heād be a monster.
Americans actually have no idea
Perhaps, no way to tell for sure but I wouldn’t doubt him
Bro he is 21 years old and has never really played competitive football in his life. He would absolutely not make millions in Europe.
Send him two, three years Europe and forget
Send him to Real MadridĀ
Lebrons decision is joining an MLS team and taking Bronny with him. Heard it here first
This was really impressive.
Bronny James is my new favorite American soccer player!
Already better than Freddy Adu
Damn I thought this was a throwback video of Bron at the thumbnail
Bronny should let the nba dream go and do a āShaq VSā type tv series where he competes at a ton of different sports against pros and see how far elite athleticism/coordination can take you
Looks like he could have been a 10 in a different life.
Turn out he has been playing the wrong sport all these times….
Is there a better angle of this?
