For the most part I’m happy with the summer league roster. Some of the guys that I thought Brad should of picked up and he didn’t was a good idea cuz they were garbage in the summer league. Although 2 of these guys I wanted him to get he didn’t but played well:

Quadir Copeland - Rockets (NBA Comp: Shaun Livingston with more range) 5 games: 29 mpg 11.⁶⁄₂.⁸⁄₃.8/2stls
Ernest Udeh Jr - Cavs (NBA Comp: Biyombo) 5 games: 20 mpg 2/6/1stl/2blks

Others (which would have been nice but got drafted), each played 5 games:

Trevon Brazile 35th pick (Denver) 6.⁸⁄₅.8/1/1.4
Jaden Bradley 50th pick (Toronto) 9.⁴⁄₃.²⁄₅.2/1stls

I knew Anderson was gonna get pick so I wasn’t surprised. I thought we were gonna draft Brazile but that didn’t happen as he fell sort of between our picks 27 and 40. Then Jaden Bradley I thought would go undrafted and we would sign him but that obviously didn’t happen. I’m not sure how it works but signing Copeland or Udeh to Maine wouldn’t be a bad idea. They would be great for the future if they can develop. Nonetheless I would give the summer league a A-

I hope this helps give people perspective on how every team has to operate around this 2nd apron. If we traded our 4th/5th best starter for second round picks there would be complaining.

In fact, I specifically remember how upset people were at the nothing return for Porzingis.

Dort started but he was the 8th best player on their roster: Hartenstein, Wallace, Mitchell, and either McCain or Caruso rank ahead of him.

Detroit traded Beef Stew for second round picks, and he was higher on their depth chart than Dort was on OKC’s.

Presti and Stevens both “dumping” salaries for SRP is proof that SRP are valuable in the 2nd apron era. Dillion Mitchell seems like he’s gonna be a good example: his likely two-way contract keeps the team under the tax this year and his next contract will likely only be partially guaranteed (like Walsh’s has been), and if/when converted (like Harper) will be a useful add-in to possible trades.

Yet they are being praised for getting 3 2nd rounders. I just cannot wrap my head around why 2nd round picks are considered valuable.

His next contract will likely only be partially guaranteed (like Walsh’s has been). And if/when converted (like Harper) the contract number will be a useful add-in to possible trades.

If Dillon Mitchell can PLAY? He’s making the minimum for four seasons and then the team has his Bird rights (can pay him more than any other team).

Second round picks are lottery tickets, tax evaders, apron stretchers, and valuable trade pieces.

Because OKC has turned 2nd rounders into rotational players. It’s likely none of those picks wind up as good as Lu Dort.

2nd rounders in general are coveted because they wind up being low salary contracts which frees up a team’s flexibility. But I won’t be shocked when they start peeling off more pieces. Tatum, Brown and White would have combined for \(156M in 2027-28 and we wouldn't have been able to reasonably add around them. SGA, JDub and Holmgren combine for \)150M that year. They’re going to wind up losing guys that want extensions (Wallace, McCain, Mitchell), or they’re going to suffer 2nd apron penalties.

The Knicks offer sheeted a Mavericks player, Cisse, which could be the first domino in LeDecision, Part 6.

Mavs have 15 contracts and they matched the offer sheet, so they have to do something. Like buyout Klay Thompson. Who will go to GSW for the minimum.

I am weirdly excited for the Golden State Expendables. Porzingis and Horford are perfectly cast. Steph, Klay, and Draymond. Jimmy Butler. And LeBron.

I can definitely see that happening, but also I wonder if LeBron would share his moment.

That Warriors team is a bunch of guys having their farewell tour, and LeBron would just be one of the guys. We could genuinely see 3-4 All-Stars retiring all at the same time.

I don’t think every single guy will retire at the same time, but Butler, Green, Porzingis, Horford and Thompson would all be getting close. Curry seems to have the most staying power.

Whereas, if LeBron goes to any of the other top candidates it would just be him.

Absolutely a big factor. LeBron loves the spotlight and doesn’t want to share.

But his recent “one or two seasons” comment gave away his intentions, IMO. He goes to GSW for the fun (action movie) of playing with his old friends. There’s no way all those dudes stay healthy but stranger things have happened.

Next season, he’s in Cleveland on the full-fledged retirement tour with the spotlight.
