I feel like the Celtics fans watching this lame duck Summer League finale on a Saturday afternoon (with the Red Sox going for 12 in a row and World Cup still going) deserve a gift card to the Celtics Team Store or a signed Brian Scalebrine 8x10.
I get Hugo getting rest (I guess. I still feel like you could give him preseason level minutes!) but isn’t getting the rookies playing real life NBA adjacent playing time the whole point of Summer League? Doesn’t make sense to me to rest Cenac and Mitchell.
There are a lot of people on the roster. They all agreed to play with the C’s so it makes sense to give them all opportunities to show out. That helps you get guys for next year.
This is one of those things where it is silly for fans to second guess the team. Are we really going to backseat quarterback summer league minutes?

Yeah. They haven’t played since Wednesday so it’s not an overuse issue.
The Celtics’ Instagram posted all of those guys practicing yesterday too so I kind of assumed they were going to play a few minutes!

Keon Johnson, Lester Quionnes, Ricky Council And Tyty Washington are all vets who have played NBA minutes so the fact we were able to comeback is a positive

Something to keep in mind when watching Tonje and Uzan in this game is the difference between a 2 way and a G League contract. I think Tonje is going to get that last 2 way but man….
I can’t imagine the pressure of playing for that kind of money. Life changing money.
I had to look it up I didn’t realize G Leguers got less than 50K a year and 2-way make close to $300K. Huge difference.
IDK where you’re getting that, 2 way contract is worth WAY more than that. The 2-way afaik is set at half the value of a standard contract for a rookie for that season. So this year a 2 way is worth \(678,882, because the rookie minimum is \)1,357,763. Like icuworc said, its the difference between a really low paying job for a fresh college graduate, and legitimately life changing money.

I thought that meant a rookie salary = \(636K and 1/2 that was roughly \)300K etc… I never spent that much time looking into rookie contracts (because I really don’t care) so I didn’t know I was reading it incorrectly.
Only reason they want to play there is because the NBA is only one call away

Uzan showing this much ability to score on all 3 levels is impressive. I know there was a who to sign Uzan vs Tonje thread earlier this week I think I’d lean towards Uzan because he’s younger and we need to develop more guards
My main gripe with Uzan is his apparently ingrained unwillingness to shoot. He gets SO many opportunities where other guards just go up with it, and he’ll just not take the shot but move the ball. Sometimes moving the ball is the WRONG option. Sometimes you gotta shoot it when you are open.
And it’s not like he is a bad shot! Earlier he had a moment where he was behind Amari, and his direct opponent was going under and getting shielded by Amari and Amari’s man, and STILL he didn’t shoot it until like 2 or 3 seconds later. In the NBA that ball needed to go up the moment his man chose to go under, especially for someone like Uzan who CAN shoot perfectly fine.
Yeah he does seem to second guess his shot selection but the fact that he doesn’t force things is a positive. Seems like he needs confidence and reps
