Take it as early in the shot clock too because that will equal more 3s. Literally all that matters is amount of 3 point shots you take. Most important stat in basketball.

This meant they didn’t have to double JB and could thus cover the shooters a lot closer. I think the one of the big things stopping Tatum is that he’ll go through this random stretch during the season where he looks kind of whatever and if you wanna win MVP you have to be consistently great all season. Jb looked like he had an actual chance up until after he dropped 50 against the clippers. His numbers after that took a dip and he never really had a chance after that imo. Jokic was playing great up until he got injured and his play was not the same after that. Majority of nba fans probably don’t like shai, but he was constantly great all season that’s why even though wemby started to play amazing near the end of the season, shai was always going to win it

I think writers and fans are going to get tired of SGA’s free throw merchant antics. I don’t see him winning again. Jokic is a better player and probably deserves it most years. Tatum has a real shot, though, it’s pretty wide open between voter fatigue and limited competition.

Bros coming off possibly the worst injury you can have in basketball. If he stays healthy and produces to even 85% of what he was that’s really all you can ask for. In his limited sample size last season he did not look great yet. Let’s see how he handles it this year now that he’s had some time off to get back into game shape.

One thing and one thing alone will prevent him from ever being a legitimate candidate for mvp - his jumpshot. It’s wildly inconsistent. If he tweaks his jumpshot so that he turns into a 50%+ FG shooter, he absolutely is in the running.
I won’t get my hopes up, however. He had all of last year to breakdown and rebuild his jumpshot, yet he came back with the same form. It is what it is at this point, I guess.
I think the amount of 3s he takes is more of a problem than his actual jump shot. Ever since 2021-2022 he’s been taking over 8 3s a game. Also majority of those 3 point attempts probably come from him shooting off the dribble since teams rarely help off of him.

I think he has a shot with fatigue from Jokic and SGA, and if Wemby doesn’t get to 65 games. After that, he’s competing with Luka, who won’t get it if the Lakers aren’t at least a top 4 seed, and maybe Giannis, who is getting older and on a possibly underwhelming Heat team.
I honestly hate that he didn’t get his much deserved FMVP. It seems in the vast majority of cases, the media just gives it to the team’s best player when it’s close. But, nope, not Tatum. Hope he gets another shot to win so he can add that to his achievements

He averaged 30 on the finals team and had to share with everyone. Which that season, helped them win more than JT taking more possessions. However most other seasons recently JT deserved a much higher usage rate.
