Homeschool kids in my district mostly got ahead and used the public school as way to benefit from athletics, other extracurriculars, and running start programs (think they had to take a class to be eligible). Graduated high school with at least their associates degrees and generally have been successful.
But there were also some who you’d never see around and I can’t see how that isn’t detrimental socially to some degree.
e: note the sample size is like three different families that homeschooled their kids cuz it’s a tiny town.

I don’t know enough about Jontay beyond his crimes but if he can somehow get less young people and people in general to avoid/minimize gambling more power to him and others who try. The mainstream acceptance of gambling has been horrible to our society especially young people getting hooked on gambling early.
Jontay will likely serve 2-3 years behind bars for his crimes but if he runs into a harsh judge I believe the maximum he could get is 25 years.

I can appreciate the idea of redemption and forgiveness and trying to teach people about your mistakes, but Jontay could just talk to people or volunteer if he wants to help people. He doesn’t need to run a charity. I’m not familiar with gambling addiction charities, but I’m sure there are other worthy charities that have less problematic histories. This is like Bill Cosby running a charity for sexual assault victims.
I assume (maybe wrongly) MPJ has a personal attorney or some kind of business advisor. Who told him this was a good idea? If this charity goes south, now he’s involved in the controversy. Just bad judgment on his part.
