Cameron Carr full postgame interview on the court after the Los Angeles Lakers defeated the Chicago Bulls and qualified for the Las Vegas Summer League semifinals.
Remains humble.
Lakers got a good one
ngl this summer league team is incredible. Absolutely dominating almost everyone they’re plying
It’s a very strange and joyous experience seeing our Summer League guys actually win games, I never thought I’d see the day
We had some bad ones aside from that 2017 goated SL team
Yeah 2017 feels like ages ago
Almost a decade ago. Where the fuck did time go lmao
Has Lonzo taken us to the promised land yet?
Oh he did. We got someone who then took us to the promise land, so without Lonzo, we wouldn’t win the championship at all 😂
I’ve gotten crazy excited for SL every year since that team and been royally disappointed. That team and the Josh Hart led squad the next year were so fun.
That SL ship had me hyped, man.
Didn’t the 2018 team lose in the championship? That was the Josh Hart sophomore team
Didn’t Kyle Kuzma win the MVP trophy his sophomore year?
pretty sure it was rookie. and lonzo got finals mvp. or it was reversed i cant remember but both were balling out super tough
Lonzo was hurt for the final game iirc. Kuzma got finals mvp.
You must be a new fan. Lonzo, Kuzma, Caruso summer league is goate😭
I can remember a decade ago and still understand that it’s been a long time
Bad summer league teams usually a good thing cause it means we are not drafting high. This is a nice rare team.
Hilarious considering they got absolutely blown the fuck out in the first game of the California Classic lol
Funny how people were absolutely shitting on the roster in game 1 😂
Was kinda hilarious how rocky it was at the California classic, then they just decided to turn it up and play good two way basketball.
It’s summer league, doesn’t mean diddly squat
I mean.. Lakers summer league team has been terrible for like 10 years. Was just saying they’re really good this year.
Nah, it means something. The Lakers haven’t really hit on any young prospects in a few years, and their bench has been ass, so this is a nice change of pace. Obviously these summer league guys might turn out to be bad in the actual league, but if they can at least hit on a couple of them, that adds some depth they really need
Did Luka actually get lucky with his supporting cast for once? This has happened like 20 times for SGA in the last few years, will be cool if Luka suddenly has players on his team who are all above expected value
Not luck. This Summer League has the backbone of a very dominant G League team from last season, that had developed a defensive identity led by Bronny James and Drew Timme. Unfortunately, injuries to the Lakers led to guys like Bronny and Adou being called up.
The Lakers are taking their development very seriously, as Kaluma and Manon were breaking out.
True, South Bay was the 1 seed and you could argue that they would have won the championship as well if some of them weren’t called up to the main team just to rot on the bench which caused them to miss the finals.
Although Bronny I think was their key piece though (along with Timme who stayed down there), and he didnt rot on the bench when called up in the spring.
So Lukas injury cost them two championships. Got it
Definitely shouldn’t have fell to 25th. I wonder why
“Too skinny”
“Too old” too I bet
Two years younger than Knecht at draft, I think it was more his profile and being incredibly skinny.
I guess they forgot Giannis?!?
I dont think anyone talked about it, but Carr’s agent is Bill Duffy too
So while the age and light bodyweight issues are a factor, I’m sure Bill worked also things out to bring him in LA lmao
Idk it’s real money for rookies between top 15 and number 25. You’re talking like almost two mill a year over 4 years it’s like 7.5-8m. For a rookie, it’s a LOT of money.
True. But if you’re trying to set up your client well for their second contract, getting them to play with your other All World PG client is a solid thought process.
Carr makes a full third more than Thiero with his 3.3mil, it is a big difference.
Thing is they never worked him out since they thought he would be drafted earlier, but hey, the Lakers could stand to win at the Draft too after the past few picks.
Because he was locker-room cancer with the Vols and can’t play defense.
can’t play defense? are you watching the games?
He got benched and quit on TN midseason because his defense was so poor then he went to Baylor, and scored points but still played bad defense. I’ll be shocked if he’s even an average nba defender at his peak.
I don’t know anything about him in college or how he’s gonna fare against real NBA players but in SL he’s been busting his tail on D and has at least one block in each game including 4 3pt blocks and a couple highlights at the rim. Definitely needs to put on some muscle but effort and team D have not been a problem.
Someone asked why he dropped, so I answered.
That’s fair. I think what triggered folks was using present tense about his defense. You were using fairly definitive statements that he “can’t” play D, but fwiw he’s been noticeably good on that end in SL. I for one wouldn’t be “shocked” if he’s better than average in the NBA for his role/size but I admittedly don’t have a large sample of watching him.
I understand they were up against the second apron, but the Knicks literally just gave this player to Lakers.
Cam Carr looks promising but 2nd Apron is incredibly punishing.
Yeah. As a Knicks fan I was extremely upset when we traded him. We could have made room for him

Sergio went to the Mavs. Knicks kept trading their pick lower and lower, until they didnt pick anyone at all in the first round, instead drafting Nickel and Kayil in the second round.
They traded that pick/Sergio to the Mavs though so that’s not why.
this dude is EXACTLY what we need on and off the court. THANK GOD. Great pick!
Not going to over react, but this might the new Kobe.
Talks like he loves playing basketball and doesn’t show ego, I like it
+ 10 Team Chemistry
my dawg 🔥🔥
can’t wait to cop the jersey
Wow, humility after such a meaningful win??
Where do SL stats get posted? He’s blocked way too many shots on the perimeter and I really want to see where he stands. Those blocked 3 pointers have been the shocking part for me. He’s had at least 1 in every game so far.
I like this kid. Let’s get him some minutes
My new favorite player
Dalton Knecht encore lets goooo
He’s the real deal. The sad part is he’s not going to have any play time when Lakers have 8 guards.
If he’s good enough, he’ll play
Umm he’s in the rotation 100%.
Never underestimate a Laker coach’s ability to put out the worst rotation possible
Who are the Lakers eight guards man? Luka guards power forwards on defense. So you have Grimes, Reaves, & Sexton. Yall just be saying anything. He will get significant minutes for a rookie.
lukas defensive position is at a wing spot, i dont know how anyone who has ever watched a single laker game in the luka era doesnt know this.
