I think summer league is a really poor indicator if a guy can actually play in the league or not. The only real determination you can make from summer league as if a guy absolutely cannot play. I think the NBA could benefit from a true minor league system.

My guess is about 200 minutes. I think he will come down from Maine from time to time when the Celtics have a homestand and jump in there, and then ride the bench a little at the end of the season.

He should probably not get real meaningful minutes at first but getting heavy minutes in Maine and some short stints with the Celtics can only help his development. He’s got a ton of upside with his age and size but he’s so raw.

Guess we’ll just have to see how the Celtics look this season too, obviously with a healthy roster we should still be a very good team but Tatum will probably be load managed a bit, paul george has had a lot of injury issues recently and Mitch Robinson always has some injury concerns so there’s always a chance he gets opportunity just based on availability.

Because his current strengths are defensive, he stands a good chance of getting on the court this season: 5 minutes here and there for defensive stop situations. Basically, go out there and hound the opposition for a few minutes to give the starters/rotation guys a rest. But overall, he’ll be seeing Maine a lot.

Cop out but I’m at a maybe right now. What tips the scale for me is having queta and Mitch there and wanting to get Cenac minutes. I’d lean towards sending him down unless they really felt like he could get consistent run which again I don’t think he could right now

It’s summer league. We have no idea.

I’m so much higher on Cenac than I have on any other Brad-era Celtic prospects. He was a top6 highschool player that dropped in the draft because he was coached to win, not to show off.

With Robinson/Queta it’ll be a tough rotation to crack, but as soon as one goes down he’ll get real minutes.

I think Chris Cenac could help right away if he plays at the 4 spot off of the bench and is on the floor with another big.

I will confidently say no based upon what I saw. He has the tools but he needs to work on his footwork a fair bit. He can get minutes as an energy guy, but he is going to have to really, really throw his body around to do it.

Only if Robinson gets injured and Queta shits the bed, to be honest…and even then Garza and Amari would get time over him.

I don’t want to put him in situations that expose him too quickly.

Super young player that has a much higher ceiling than I would have thought originally. He needs real reps and to develop more but I believe in our developmental system and dropping in the draft might just be a heaven send for us because he’s going to have that chip on his shoulder his whole career and he wants to prove to everyone and himself that everyone who passed on him made a big mistake.

I see his ceiling as a Horford style player. He has a similar body type and if he develops his strength and his overall game that could be his ceiling. You have to remember he only played a year of college and they asked him to concentrate on things that weren’t in his forte and that bodes well for us because we got a player who is more than willing to step outside his comfort zone and get better.

He has some interesting intangibles for a player his size and with some patience and development he could be a real asset to the team in the next couple years.

I’m honestly really impressed with his summer league highlights - I find him to be aggressive in the right spots and he knows how to use his physical tools.

Except for screening. Most of the screens I’ve seen are complete whifs. I think he’s gonna have a great time being a member of the C’s big-man-development-lineage. I wouldn’t be surprised if he really impresses when he does get spot minutes ³⁄₄ through the season when C’s lean into the bench to give the main rotation rest before the playoffs.

He’ll probably spend most of his time in Maine, but I’m irrationally high on him so I do hope he gets some spot minutes throughout the season 

I’m not going to lie I wouldn’t be against the idea of giving him a little bit of a run in the beginning of the seaon, give him maybe 10 games an see what he looks like then if it doesn’t look like he’s ready just yet then send him to Maine so he can develop a little more.

I think if he can accept his roll as a jump shooter early on, maybe. Hes trying to do too much right now.

10-12 mins a game, probably. I think there’s a reason he is getting in off the bench in summer league - Celtics are big on simulating real games and that’s most likely to be his role this year.

Most of his run will be in Maine but I think people will be surprised when he looks good in his 10 a game in Boston.

Can’t set a screen for shiet but he can get 5-10 mins off rebounding and hustle.

I still think there will be more moves made before the start of the season but the likely scenario is him (and Amari) starting the season in Maine and maybe getting called up on back-to-back’s. Unless they plan on running a double big a lot there are too many people in front of him right now. Queta and Robinson will get the majority of the minutes at the 5 with Garza as our 3rd string. If he continues to show he can hit the 3 ball he might see spot minutes as a stretch 5 or a 4 with another big on the floor but I’d rather see him getting heavy minutes in Maine at first. By the all star break I wouldn’t be surprised if he and Amari are both getting minutes with the C’s while still playing in Maine but barring injuries or trades I don’t expect either to get regular minutes with Boston this year. Next year is when I expect both of them to push for a regular role. The talent is there

Joe hates rookies and cenac is not polished enough to change his mind. Especially at the center position where joe expects a lot from that role in his system. Even queta still gets yelled at for missing a rotation on defense

i would say no because he looks super raw but Hugo got a decent amount of minutes and he was pretty raw, i think he’ll get a couple chances

Summer leagues means LITERALLY NOTHING. Please do not attempt to extrapolate summer league into regular season production…

I want him to get some minutes where he can fade into a normal role. Not as a deep backup without an offensive flow but with the main backups here and there between heavier usage stints in Maine that I assume are coming too.

I think he’ll be the 4th string center and 3rd string power forward. That being said I like him a lot. Maybe a better way to look at it would be he’s probably the backup stretch big for at least this season barring a Garza injury.

I think it is more realistic that he will play in the G league for the Maine Celtics. The Summer League might be more of an indicator if a player is a dud more than anything else; a lot of the summer league players won’t make a roster.

Yes, but not consistently. I think think he’s a guy Joe will throw in there for 10 minutes a game for his defense. Offensively his role can be to either go to the corners or cut to the basket. He doesn’t need to do too much if he’s on the court with some of our scorers. Just needs to be a lockdown defender and grab some offensive boards. A defensive lineup of White/George/Tatum/Cenec/Robinson would be deadly.

Hugo, Walsh, Amari all deserve minutes, and while Cenac has shown flashes he hasn’t shown he’s better than any of the 3. Enjoy them lobster rolls in Maine, big dog.

Our startinstarting lineup is 3 guys bound to have an injury sidelining them for major portions of the season… and Pritchard and White. I think there will be more than enough minutes to go around.

He reminds me of Jordan Mickey (who everyone also loved).

No. Even early in the season when he was getting lottery mocks, the book on Cenac was that he was going to need some time before being ready to contribute at an NBA level.

PP, Hugo, Hauser, Garza, Mitch

Conley, Ron, Walsh, Cenac, Amari

Uzan/Mitchell

Move Conley, Walsh or Garza at deadline if we see Uzan, Mitchell or Cenac killing it in Maine.

He will not see big minutes

Been saying since draft night when a lot of people were low on the pick I think he contributes in year 1. We have a hole at power forward (not having 6’8 wings playing up an actual near 7 footer) at that position opens things up. Between his shooting ability, an ability to take players off the dribble, his rebounding and defense I think he’ll get spot minutes after January. I think he’ll spend some time in the G league but not as much as people think. He’s raw but the skills and motor are evident

Honestly, Chris Cenac Jr looks like he’s been ready from the jump so he’ll get real mins as a starter and If Coach Joe does give the mins then its a wrap 💯💯🍀😎

Only way I see him getting a real amount of NBA minutes this season is if our frontcourt gets ravaged by injuries. Which is possible. But I think the plan since we took him was always to have him work on his game in Maine, and reassess next summer. Maine is basically his sophomore season on a team where he can be a more aggressive version of himself, and I think that will do wonders for his development.

He’s not worthy playing just to play. Hope he dominates in Maine, I don’t think he plays much and will be developed to be third string next year.

IMO, the focus of this year should be easing Tatum back in to real competition and pumping Queta/Hugo/Baylor/Walsh/Amari/RHJ/Cenac/Mitchell minutes everywhere possible to continue developing them and seeing if they’re “real” players.

Cenac has obvious very real upside, but I don’t see a path to him meaningfully cracking the Cs big man rotation this season unless someone gets injured. Queta/Robinson/Garzilla/Williams are all in front of him and he is a project who has to learn both how to operate in the NBA game and the Cs scheme. I hope he’s a big part of the rotation in three years, but suspect this season he’ll play a lot in Maine and a little in Boston.
