I agree. If he can play like 60 games for them it may convince a team to give him a shot. Dont think if he gets hurt again his value can get much worse. They’d be selling low if they moved him now. Why not let him be there a year to help show the youngins about great defense?

Kinda make sense with the new lottery odds. Wiz need to get out of the bottom to 30 ~ 35 wins for best lottery odds, as a rebuilding team with all their own picks. If AD is good for half a season + Trae, should get them there. If AD and Trey are good together for 60+ games, they are going to the playoff.

Trading AD for scraps, wasting a year of Trae, and starting off AJ’s career as a loser is worse than rolling the dice with AD.

AD injuries by and large have been misfortune and not like “his knee is shot”.

That trade was awful mostly because of all the bullshit narratives that came from it.

The second that trade went through, the narrative around AD became an injury prone dickhead again even though thats pretty much never been the actual case, and “Luka’s a tubby crybaby” went from a decently common take to being worthy of death by firing squad.

He’s a ²⁰⁄₁₀ guy when decides he wants to play. Look the trajectory of his career has showcased not only instances where he was injured but also where he purposely chose not to play. You gain the reputation off and on the court.

The question is what is “sell high” in these circumstances. I’m sure the wizards would trade him for the right price, but the offers to date haven’t been “selling high” given we gave up two admittedly bad firsts for him a couple months ago

Traes contact was a mutual understanding (except for the trade kicker, I don’t understand the trade kicker like at all). Paying AD makes no sense unless it’s very favorable but after the Trade contract AD isn’t taking a pay cut. So all signs points to Wizards flipping AD as soon as they get the best package.

I mean I don’t think we are going to extend AD, or at least I certainly hope we don’t.

But I don’t see why we would trade him now when he’s never even played for us. I think we are going to let him play until the trade deadline to hopefully recoup his trade value. Then either we keep him if we are in the playoff hunt or trade him at the deadline if we are only a fringe play in team.

Nothing indicates they want to extend him. He has two years on his contract. They have no reason to.

I still think Giannis shouldve gone there. Trae AD and Giannis is an awesome fit. And they probably couldve kept 1 of Sarr or Coulibaly. Also couldve extorted the fuck out of danny ainge trading down from #1.

I like everything they’ve done tbh. Bench wise they’re pretty deep. I’m taking their 6-10 over at least 5 other teams in the East.

I’m ridiculously excited to see the product on the court. I’ve been the champion of I hope we don’t extend AD for a long while, but I’m being more practical about it now. The reality is, if Trae can actually show that his off ball work and efficiency increase is sustainable, and AD is still a top 5 defensive player and ²⁰⁄₁₀ guy… we’ll surprise a lot of people.

I expect there to be some growing pains, but the offseason vibes are the best I remember in my lifetime.
