Kid has me re-watching Zach Lavine SL games because I swear he reminds me of him. Even body size since Zach and Cam were both twigs as rookies. If Carr puts on muscle like Lavine did, this league is in trouble. He’s such a natural scorer with a pretty shot and he’s not scared to let it fly
Lavine was a more ready ball handler than Carr at this point if I remember correctly

He was a really weird case where almost anywhere he couldve reasonably gone would feel like a steal, yet it was still hard to justify him as a potential lottery pick.

Very, veryyyy different.. Other “anonymous” scouts were literally laughing at the Lakers for taking DK because he was one of the GOATS among the worst pre-draft interviewers which is why he ultimately dropped and the Lakers never interviewed him prior because they likely didn’t think he was going to drop that much. DK was splashing shots but the iq was always heavily questionable, dude has donkey brains and is clueless on both ends when any structure is added. At worst, Carr is a solid role player off the bench as nobody can block his jumper which is why he shoots it with so much confidence regardless of where he’s at on the floor. DK is his own worst enemy, he has/had the talent just not the mental capabilities imo. One last thing.. In the previous game Carr airballed a 3 and instead of sulking or showing bad body language? He immediately sprinted back on defense and got a big block and then splashed a corner 3 with zero hesitation. Even the clippers top pick was looking at the ground and talking to himself late in the 3rd going into a tv timeout as he was being dominated. Carr is just different, if you’ve been watching basketball long enough you can just tell with some players.

I think it makes sense if they view Hartenstein as replaceable by the end of his contract. That team will get prohibitively expensive in the next few years, and if one of Mara/Sorber becomes a rotation level big man then it solves part of that problem. Also if one of them pops off sooner then Hartenstein becomes a positive trade asset.
Because there’s more than just next season? Ideally, Mara probably won’t play much, but over the next few years, they will not have iHart and maybe some other guys.
He doesn’t fit Presti’s profile. He’s horrible at defense, had bad draft interviews, and doesn’t have a good locker room reputation from college.
