Lakers did it from 1985-1988 (the longest ever with 4 60 win seasons in a row).

Celtics did it twice, once from 1980-1982, and another time from 1984-1986. (Were 4 wins away in 1983 from doing it 7 times in a row).

Bulls did it once from 1996-1998.

Jazz did it once from 1997-1999. (In 1999 they had a win record that would be equivalent to 60+ wins and are the only franchise here to not win a ring in that span).

Warriors did it from 2015-2017 (including the wins record in the middle year).

OKC has had 60+ wins in 2025 and now 2026. If they do it again in 2027 they’ll be the 7th franchise ever to complete this feat. Now ofc their main focus has been and will probably be to win the championship again, but if they did do it, it would be a cool side bonus.

Tanking is typically done by front offices and to a lesser degree coaching. The players aren’t throwing games. That’s why there was such a reaction this year to players being pulled early in games. And only a couple teams were guilty.

It was a farce the last 2 months of the season. There’s a reason they had drastic draft lottery reform this year. It’s a reasonable concern to have about every team going next season, the impact of less tanking teams.

The original comment said the Thunder might feel the impact of less tanking next year. The response was that tanking teams played them close and lost at the end of games last season, to imply that these tanking teams were actually trying and won’t have better luck this year. My point is that the teams were losing at the end of those games on purpose if they were at all close. Coaches for at least 8 teams were openly resting and sitting players in fourth quarters across the league. And next year, less teams will be doing that. That is what we’re discussing, nobody cares about who is to blame for tanking.

Other than the Jazz and Wizards pulling starters, other teams that were tanking weren’t throwing at the end of games because their players were trying. I’m not sure why you keep avoiding this point.

This is pure conjecture. But lots of beat reporters felt the same way throughout the season. The Thunder org was overly cautious during the regular season when it came to injuries with respects to JDub, iHart, and Ajay. I think that being overly cautious really hurt the overall team chemistry when it came to G1 of the WCF because they hadn’t played together for most of the season. The Spurs would have beat us by 20 if Caruso didn’t have a generational bald man game.
