Olise has been great, but his shooting has been pretty bad. His creation has been good of course but you can’t say he’s been better when even with 17 shots he has had 0 goals, compared to 8 goals from 28 shots for Mbappe and 5 goals off just 11 shots from Dembele. OG was pretty much 50% from the three point line!! Crazy. Some daggers in the clutch against San Antonio too. He missed 50/40/90 because he was only 85% from the FT line.

Bridges missed 50/40/90 by 3% from the 3pt line. He was ²³⁄₆₃. If he were ²⁶⁄₆₃ he’d be there.

Roughly 80% of OGs 3 pointers had 0 or 1 dribbles and were immediate catch and shoots
Similarly roughly 80% of his 3s were open or wide open shots with 4-6 or 6+ feet to the nearest defender

OG was getting insanely wide open corner 3s constantly especially against the Spurs. Champagnie got absolutely fried that series

Funny thing is the exact same thing happened in the NBA Cup game where OG was ¹⁰⁄₁₇ with 28 points

Team went on an absolute heater no doubt. To be sure, some of that is luck, but also everyone in our starting 5 save Hart is an elite shooter to some degree or another (KAT overall but particularly as a big, Bridges and OG from the corners). Our semi-motion/Princeton offense also really helps keep guys in a rhythm in a way that facilitates good shooting

I disagree. The Knicks had their worst shooting stretches of the postseason against the Spurs. The Spurs early game defense in particular was pretty legendary.

Some of that is likely due to mean reversion (Knicks shot absurdly hot while going through the East), but the Spurs were on a totally different tier of defensive play compared to previous opponents.

Stat-sheet watchers don’t distinguish between players that create advantages (Brunson) and ones that benefit from other players gravity (OG). OG played great but Brunson was the clear FMVP if you understand basic roles.

Game 1, shot a hair under 50% from the field after the 1st quarter and had 13 points in the 4th quarter.

Game 2, only actually “bad” game, and he still hit the shots to both tie and win.

OG had an argument but he also didn’t have a great Game 5 while Brunson had one of the biggest carries ever. That sealed it for Brunson who put up 32.⁶⁄₄.²⁄₄.6 with 2 steals a game which was considered a subpar performance by him by people because he’s that good.

I’m not sure how you could argue that KAT’s offense was anywhere near Brunson’s for the series. KAT arguably had a better Game 1 offensively (Brunson scored 13 in the 4th, KAT kept them alive early in the game), definitely had a better Game 2, and then Brunson had better offensive games the rest of the series.
