I don’t get it. The 2nd apron rules have been a major contributor to unprecedented league parity… its working as intended
For almost half a decade we had the same 2 teams make the finals each year. Warriors Cavs from 2015 through 2018. Lebron’s teams made the finals from 2011 through 2018 in a shitty east. Fans and media members alike (outside of cavs/heat/lebron/steph/warriors fans) didn’t enjoy it.
It’s pretty lame and boring to go through a season where the finalists are basically a foregone conclusion from October. One of the major reasons for the new rules was to create parity. We have parity now.
There have been 8 different champions in 8 years. Afaik, no individual player has more than 2 rings in the past 8 years either so its not even like some amazing star or role player is hopping around to title teams.
Each year as much as we THINK we know whos gonna win (i.e. “nobody is beating OKC!!!), we are surprised literally every year. Is this not BETTER?
The 2024 Celtics put together a team of like 4 dudes making 30+ million. Without apron rules, that insanely good team could have stayed together. But instead, the pieces moved and we had different winners in subsequent years.
I just don’t understand the complaining about the apron at all unless you’re a fan of a title team who was specifically impacted by it. For the other 29 teams and fans… this is a better world. Am i crazy?
