Drake was better as a 19 yr old rookie last season than Bronny was as a 21 yr old sophomore. Sure he’s sucked in summer league but he wasn’t horrible in actual NBA games as a teenager

Drake Powell isn’t good and he might not be in the league that long but he did play in 63 actual NBA games last season as a rookie and was better in those games than Bronny has been in his career. 

The 63 actual NBA games is probably a better representation of Powell’s abilities than 4 random summer league games. He’s still not good but let’s not act like these 4 summer league games has more meaning than actual NBA games over a much larger sample.

The real issue is he’s in year 2.

If he was first year, sure you give benefit of the doubt. But, putting up some of the worst ever stats in summer league as a 2nd year isn’t excusable.

Bro 1-28 for a 22nd pick whether he’s raw or not is absolutely unprecedented. He shot 40% from the field in NBA games. This is insane for him to shoot less than 4% against weaker competition.

I haven’t watched his games but his other stats for an 2nd year prospect are a bigger concern imo. He’s not really rebounding or assisting despite playing 20+ minutes a night. It points to someone kinda like a Wiseman, not an offensive flamethrower and not basketball intelligent enough to impact the game in other ways. 

A lot of these Summer League guys won’t make it to the big leagues because they’re just straight up missing huge amounts of NBA talent. Often basketball game sense and/or athleticism and other physical skills.

Like I’m following the Sixers and I don’t even think Broome makes it to the NBA proper, despite stuffing the stat sheet, because it’s clear that he’s probably going to get cooked by more athletic people on actual starting and bench lineups.

The bigger concerns are his rebounding and assist numbers imo. It’s one thing to miss everything in Summer League, it’s another to be rebounding or assisting like once or twice a game as a 2nd year prospect guard/forward.
