But yeah this is still a huge discount from a supermax, which already would have been a totally fine contract for Wemby. Like Wemby is probably the most supermax-worthy player since LeBron (though I think they weren’t even a thing the first 10 or so years of his career). Getting Wemby for a regular max is instantly one of the best contracts in the league. Only even slight risk is if he develops injury issues and can’t stay on the court for a large chunk of it.

He didn’t qualify for the 30% barring any injury and getting 65 games yes he would have been eligible.

It’s a cut because it completely removes the chance of the Spurs paying him what he deserves. He’s played 71, 46 and 64 games and was grandfathered into All-NBA.

So he’s no more or less likely to make All NBA next year, but this absolutely guarantees that even if he does, it doesn’t affect anything.
