In all seriousness; they’re sort of like the rich guy that pays $500k to go kill an elephant in Africa.
The impact on the individual animal is difficult to accept, but the impact on the overall population is positive.
They contribute tons of money to real conservation ( about 0.1% of their profit). They actually do a lot of cutting edge marine research. They do actually rescue injured/orphaned marine animals. They donate a ton of money to veteran organizations.
And they have teams that will go out and treat injured wildlife (in the wild) at no cost. They also employ a ton of really well-meaning marine biologists that would otherwise be working at home depot.
They do more good than they do harm. They only have about 15 orcas and 150 dolphins in captivity.
I question them, but support the organization apprehensively similiar to how I feel about most zoos.
If you haven’t been to SeaWorld lately, I recommend a trip; a lot more education (and roller coasters) than forced orca shows than you may be used to. And a lot of opportunities to give to meaningful conservation causes.
They do suck but, honestly, the future for those whales is a lot worse if they go out of business and they stopped breeding them. They don’t even do the circus orca show anymore and do like a educational orca encounter type of thing instead.
Orcas are not endangered globally, and i doubt SeaWorld has a breed-and-release program to help the population. Phasing out the current ones they have and then just stopping is the best solution, and they should not be supported whilst they still keep orcas around.
As far as I understand, they are phasing them out. From what I recall there have been mixed results in releasing orcas raised in captivity into the wild with many of them dying very young. So I am not sure that is really the most humane option.

Johnson reduced his rotation and it showed. By the time HB got into later games, he was rusty AF.
I think we just need/value regular season depth highly. Barnes can still play well there.
I also think there’s an argument to be made that the shortened rotation is on the young guys. The offensive “playbook” so to speak was pretty simple last season, and some of rotating guys in is the ball handlers have to be able to make use of them. I don’t think that means Barnes is suddenly going to be a cornerstone, but he still has playing value and is worth keeping.
I mean I would replace him with Bron in a heartbeat but that’s not an insult to Barnes lol

Our defense is our strong suit, and relies heavily on our speed and athleticism. At his age, Bron would have a hard time keeping up - unless he took a significant minutes cut.
It’s one of the reasons Barnes lost so many minutes, we were at our best when our guys were flying around the court.
