I’m told that the Clippers have remained engaged on other basketball business even amid the latest Kawhi chaos.

They’re specifically involved, sources say, with two restricted free agency situations of note … even after signing Rui Hachimura to a two-year, $28 million deal and participating in a six-team trade finalized Wednesday that dispatched John Collins to Detroit.

We’ve mentioned for several days now that the Clippers have been projected to be the most ardent external suitor for Denver restricted free agent Peyton Watson. Sources reiterate that the Clippers do indeed still covet Watson and have shown interest in a deal with the UCLA product in the $25-plus million range per season that Watson is said to be seeking.

The fact that the NBA investigation has dragged out over an entire season into the following offseason, while one investigative journalist has been able to obtain and publish most of the circumstantial evidence against LA, is ridiculous.

I’m sure even the Clippers just want to know what it’s gonna be so they can take it into account, move on and conduct their own business.

They’ve had more than enough time to formulate a slap on the wrist punishment by now. It’s comical you think they need months and months of brainstorming to do that. The PR is not good for the league as it continues to drag out like this. I genuinely believe if they were gonna do something like that, it would’ve already happened. Get it done and over with

Probably trying to find a way to cover up the sink hole sized culpability the league had in the deal by turning a blind eye to it, too. It’s one thing for a franchise to look bad, it’s a whole other thing to have the league know and ignore it until a journalist brings it to light

They are investigating the richest owner in the league lmao he has the money to drag this on and probably has a huge say in what his own punishment will be. Thats just how this country / works. A player like kawhi coming off a top ten player season would have little punishments having his contract voided at the beginning of free agency he could just sign a max wherever. But void him at the end of it and all of sudden he has only mid levels on crappy teams or minimums on good teams.
Also maybe the nba is afraid of ballmer and wants to make sure they wont face repercussions from him or the players union
