AJ already learned the dark arts he’s ready

We endured the trauma of a top pick having the worst ever summer league debut. We needed this lol.

Wouldn’t be shocked if neither of them plays again in this summer league again. DP already played 3 games, and if AJ is even slightly injured, there is no reason to risk playing him.

6’10 Shai the league is cooked

Both are gonna be great. The wizards were hounding the shit out of DP all game with Watkins who they clearly told not to worry about fouling. Still got 24 and his shot is amazing. AJ is incredible getting to the rim and getting space on his shots, if he stops front rimming things my god

Peterson ends up with 8 turnovers and 9 fouls. He’s looked good but the turnovers are wild

Jamir has clearly learned from the school of Draymond, he was there to just piss off Darryn all night and it was hilarious

AJ outplayed him, definitely saw flashes from both though. You can tell they’re both NBA-ready—same with Boozer last week

Shoutout Tre Johnson, we got DP at home

I’ve never seen a team guard someone as aggressively in Summer League as the Wizards were with Peterson. lol

I don’t think there was a single outlet he trusted by the end of that game.

Tre Johnson was easily the best player in this game

Jamir Watkins had Peterson in HELL tonight. DP with 9 fouls and 8 turnovers. He still looked really good though, Jazz got one for sure.

AJ looks scary attacking the rim but also very happy with Tre and Will who looked so mature out there game wise. DP had a rough time but I feel like you could still see the skill and potential.

This felt way more intense than your average Summer League game. You could tell both teams wanted this one. Dybantsa looked like the more polished player tonight, but Peterson still showed why he’s so highly regarded. If this matchup is a preview of what’s to come over the next decade, we’re in for some fun battles.

If it was normal nba rules AJ would have had 16 FTA.

AJ passing wasn’t bad either, good defense and excellent finishing at the rim. Maybe inefficient with long 2s but that’s his only issue

The lack of rim pressure from DP, its all floaters and jumpers right now its still early obviously. If AJ hits his normal mid range he could have had 40.

Dybantsa is 1.1

I love Peterson’s skillset. But as their careers progress, in postseason environments against physical defense there’s no way to account for AJs size and athleticism. He has clear weaknesses to work on still, namely his off-dribble 3pt shooting. But his ceiling is incredibly high as a 19yo

AJ vs. Shai is going to be refs just staring at each other figuring out what to do.

Kinda ugly game for DP compared to SLC Summer League, but his teammates were relying on him to do absolutely everything outside of Cody Williams occasionally helping.

While he was cool to watch as the 1st option on these summer league lineups, I’m REALLY excited to see him in October. Just imagine what this dude could do with Lauri and Key drawing teams’ best defenders early on.

Peterson will be a great player, he and AJ might be going band-for-band, but it’s so great for those people who said the Wizards messed up by picking AJ to shut up.

As someone that watched AD with Flagg, Wizards you just need to go ahead and trade AD to the Warriors. Do not let that man take touches from him or any of the young guys

I’m already seeing this nonsense conversation starting about how AJ is “flopping” and “foul baiting” etc., and it’s frustrating because it’s coming from people who either don’t know what they’re talking about or are trolling.

AJ is in part an attack first player who is unafraid of the contact. The dude I watched last night was headed right for the defense trying to make plays and I’m not sure what else he is supposed to do in those moments to convince these smooth brains accusing him of foul baiting.

What kind of game do you want him to play? Hes infinitely more skilled than almost everyone else his size so he initiates away from the basket. His game is different than Durant’s so he will be finishing close to the hoop much more often. Hes not a pure shooter nor is he a pure facilitator.

Maybe it’s me because I let these toddlers on Reddit bother me, but this kid is so talented it’s unfortunate to see this stuff already starting.

Imagine Darryn when he isn’t play like the 10 day contract overseas caliber players. The turnovers will decrease when he plays with Key, Ace, Jaren, and Lauri

Peterson had a good game, he did miss some makable shots. But he was getting double teamed he made the right passes. Needs to clean up a few things but he was handling the ball a lot making good decisions. Those shots will go down. He also was getting full court pressed the whole time.

Damn. DP missed a triple double by 2 turnovers and 1 foul.

I love how aggressive he is. Most of his shots were just flat so I don’t mind the shooting this game. Love the defense and his handles. His handles are GREAT

Rez arguably had a better stat line tonight than either. 27 pts/8rebs/5asts/5stocks on ¹²⁄₁₇ from the field and ¹⁄₄ from deep.

the thing that stood out to me is dybantsa’s physicality translating right away. 7-18 isn’t efficient but he got to the line 8 times and wasn’t scared of contact. that’s usually the hardest adjustment for rookies. peterson had way tougher defensive schemes thrown at him though, wizards were sending doubles all game, so his numbers make more sense in context.

Wait a minute, are you guys telling me that Dybantsa, Peterson, and Boozer can all be good players?
