Stephen Curry on his pitch to LeBron James: “The pitch is: Do you want to play good basketball and be around people who know how to play the game? Raise our floor, our competitiveness this year. There’s good golf in the Bay.”
But if LeBron goes to Memphis, then he won’t have to stay at that hotel he hates.
I can’t imagine a better pitch than that.
This is genius actually.
Bro could take one of his checks from last season to buy his own place in Memphis.
Last season? He can probably use the Space Jam 2 royalties from yesterday to buy his own mansion in Memphis.
LeBron should buy Graceland
Could he buy that hotel, demolish it, and build a new one? Yeah he definitely could.
Might take two game checks though
Go to the east and you’ll only have to stay in Memphis hotel once
Memphis also has great golf, so he’ll always have something to do on those random-ass Thursdays.
Leading the pitch with golf. Steph is a genius lmao
Bron is so competitive, I wonder how he could handle getting wiped by Curry every time they hit the green lol.
Pretty sure he knows he’s not that guy in golf. He plays with JR Smith who absolutely outclasses him too. If he can handle getting destroyed by JR he can probably handle getting destroyed by Steph.
Austin reeves is also like the 2nd best golfer in the league.
Yes I know, I just didn’t know if he ever played golf with LeBron before
If memory serves he’s joked about Lebron’s skills on the golf course but I think he’s only played with Bronny
Do you guys think the only golf they play is rounds you’re aware of?
Yeah but we’re talking about the man who snatched LeCrown and made Levron dance
True but I’m pretty sure JR Smith did more damage to LeBron’s psyche during those warriors/cavs series than Steph ever did with his scoreboard brain fart
True but isn’t JR better than Steph?
Curry is at the tournaments and stuff but it’s mostly celebrity stuff and because he’s so famous but do we actually know that curry is better than smith?
They’re both two of the greatest NBA golfers ever, what’s even the question here
Probably would appreciate playing with someone skilled who can help to be honest.
Handicap bridges the gap somewhat
He golfs with JR Smith and Austin Reaves. He’ll be fine.
which green lol
We’re talking about LeBron playing with Curry, not JR!
He literally lead the pitch with basketball
Basketball is a given the pitch is Golf.
I’m so confused now since we’re talking about pitches and none of the sports being discussed are baseball or soccer.
That was the last thing he said
He should’ve added the wine angle too He could open his own LeWinery with a signature Leyrah up in Napa
I just assumed he had a wine under his brand but now that I think about it never seen him promote a wine.
LeVineyard is still in stealth.
LeMerlot
He didn’t lead with golf.
I swear most of y’all can’t read.
Man he must be so tired of being asked about this already. I can’t even imagine.
If you want Lebron you gotta deal with the circus.
Tbh… Steph gets asked so much stupid bullshit that I’m sure this isn’t even that much worse than normal.
I would actually like to know what Sharks legend Joe Pavelski sitting right next to him has to say about it
We are all tired of it.
We are all witnesses tired
Nah, you know you love it. That’s why you’re still here.
He could give a different answer then.
If you’re gonna be rich and not be in LA, being rich in the bay is basically as good as it gets
But why is he even playing? He’s not playing to be rich in some great city. He can retire and do that. He’s playing to compete for championships. He wants two more championships to tie MJ at least. He’s not competing in SF
If all he cared about was padding his resume he would have already signed with OKC or San Antonio.
If the resume and championships are #1, then IMO 1A/1B is also being able to win a finals mvp. Maybe he can outclass Wemby as a teammate in the finals but not SGA.
He also might not want a KD narrative of just signing with the best team (according to Rich Paul, Knicks winning is why they were never considered).
The man is gonna be 42. No one would compare him to what KD did lol
I was gonna say that too, but then again you can’t really tell with haters lmao.
But it could be the mentality of joining the team that is already viewed as a championship contender and just being a piece that guarantees the win vs a team that’s a piece away from being the conversation.
Hes still a competitor and no matter what the camp say Hes probably also factoring in quality of life, distance from family, business opportunities, and LeGolf.
Otherwise it’s pretty obvious which handful of teams he should have signed with by now.
The top teams that would be in the running like the Spurs and OKC aren’t going to make many if any other major moves to their rosters.
nah that would be the hardest road situation and he would be mocked, he literally said he would consider going to NY but they won so he won’t
he desperately wants to go to a good team but not the consensus #1⁄2
ya i highly doubt he’s taking much into consideration the actual city he’s playing in. He knows this is a temporary stop until he retires (whether it’s 1 or 2+ years). And then once he does, he’ll move his ass and his family to a great city to settle down in.
Settling down at 45 sounds fun
It won’t count in peoples minds if he goes the KD route. If that’s his goal he’s trying to find the team that threads the needle of not quite a contender without him, but he takes over the top. Golden State does that, but that narrative is hampered by the fact it’s Steph’s team through and through. Philly doesn’t really work, Cleveland does, Miami does.
I doubt that’s what he cares about most though. I think he’s just going home to Cleveland.
I can see the pitch for LeBron for SF, as it’s pretty simple.
Prove that even now, the best of the 2010s still got it against the best of the 2020s. What better symbolism than LeBron & Steph, the men who ran the league for a half decade, showing that in their late 30s early 40s that they can still beat up 20 somethings.
Once they are done, LeBron can sign his 10 day at Cleveland (a 1 day contract is a bit weak for someone of his importance), and Steph, Klay, Dray can sign 1 days at Golden State if they all retire together (and KD hopefully to Seattle if that’s happened by that time).
That would be a cool passing of torch moment if they bow out at similar times like Bird/Magic/MJ.
I mean if Steph is healthy and they trade Jimmy for something there’s a good they can make a run, warriors won in 2022 and Steph hasn’t declined
There’s no way they’re making it past OKC or San Antonio with a 42 year old LeBron, 38 year old Steph, and 36 year old Draymond.
I’d rather be rich in the Bay than LA. SoCal isn’t my vibe.
I think age plays into this. Rich and young probably LA. Rich and 30/40’s/50’s I would probably stay in the bay.
Rich and old Im going somewhere peaceful with space.
IDK. I’m 28, and I value the Bay for the density of SF itself. Closest thing to Manhattan on the West Coast.
The more sprawly suburbs to the south of SF share many of the same issues as SoCal, but have worse weather.
Adam Savage is no young man & he plans on staying in the heart of SF until he can’t afford it anymore. There are a lot of old folks who feel that way about SF & NYC in particular. I’d probably be one of them if I had roots in either city.
As I age, I’ll probably end up hanging on to the (relatively) dense part of the city in which I have roots & current live. Turn into a full blown curmudgeon, but not the NIMBY type nor the suburban type.
Of course everyone has their own preferences lol
Im telling you mine. Im in my 30’s and Im firmly planted in the bay but if you asked me 10 years ago and I was rich i probably would be in socal. Maybe not LA proper but somewhere down south.
But then again I don’t know what it’s like to be rich and if you had that type of wealth you could probably just do day or weekend trips with an hour flight.
We never wanted you either
You need to pitch rich not lebron
send him a voice note.
Send da note
Go on Rich’s podcast and instead of getting paid for the appearance, you pay Rich.
Podcasts pay their guests??! Never knew
I imagine there are some guests that are paid on some podcasts, but it’s not the standard. Most appearances are treated as a mutual exchange where both parties are benefitting without monetary exchange.
Yea, standard is what I thought. Interesting.
Draymond’s got it covered there
That livestream rumour thing could lead to a bunch of money if it’s Lebron and Steph. I gotta imagine revenue from that would easily surpass any additional he might get for his documentary if he goes full circle to Cleveland. His documentary won’t be that much worse if it ends with a stint with his rival vs. going back to Cleveland. But a livestream featuring Lebron+Steph would get a bunch more viewers than LeBron+Harden+deeper playoff run.
Honestly if I am Lebron, and I am not, you’ve already done everything in the league and won many titles. One more title as the third or fourth best player on whatever contending team you join isn’t going to change anything.
To some people you’re already #1, to others you’ll always be behind Jordan, or maybe even a bit further down the Top 5. Unless you decided to go to the Kings and you win a title next year, ain’t nothing changing.
So just enjoy the last go round. I think suiting up next to Steph on the court, and going out to play Golf with any free time you got afterwards, is probably the most fun he’s going to have at any destination.
Alternatively, going home to Cleveland and just wrapping up your career in the place you started/ where you were born, is also an awesome full circle story book closing moment.
What are ya gonna do go and be the 4th wheel in Philly? Or have to lead a couple of knuckleheads in Minny? Just go home or go ride into the sunset or onto the tee with Steph.
He’s gonna go be #2 in Cleveland (for the playoffs) and coast as a load managed #3 during the regular season.
James Harden after Game 82:
“LeTadori I’ll leave the rest to you.”
For his career narrative, it makes the most sense to finish it in CLE. There’s also an actual opportunity to compete on that team.
Warriors presents an opportunity to kind of just fuck around. I don’t think the organization or fan base has a particularly high expectation for this aging core. They have a puncher’s chance if they’re healthy and maybe that is “fun” for LeBron. If the Warriors can walk that knife’s edge next season, with LeBron, it can a very interesting season. The Bay Area also allows LeBron to stay on CA and that’s probably a big plus for him.
I’m gonna soft disagree, the warriors would be old but absolutely competitive with LeBron. Curry can still get hot and give you 40 any given night, Porzingus creates floor spacing, Draymond and Gui both bring some value and flexibility at their position, Melton will be fully healthy and is a great 2 way player, Yaxel looks like an instant rotation player who should be a 15⁄7 guy… Add LeBron to the team and that’s a hard roster to defend or score against, with good size and length.
Then you get Jimmy Butler back mid season or so.
It would be a strong roster imo, capable of going toe to toe with any team in the league.
As much of a Warriors fan I am, if our pitch for Lebron includes rotation guys like Melton and Gui and Yaxel (if he pans out this year), then it’s not much of a pitch.
The pitch for Bron is Steph on offense, Dray on defense, and Jimmy on both sides for a playoff run, unless they can make a swing for AD or another player Bron wants to play with. The rest of the squad doesn’t give Bron much more than he can find anywhere else.
Yeah that pitch is the obvious part - I went into the rest of the roster to make the point that it would be a very competetive squad with him there that matches up well with the premier teams in the west in terms of shot creation, scoring efficiency, defensive efficiency and even the intangibles like size/length and bbIQ.
Also I do think Gui deserves a mention - he averaged about 16/6/4 after the all star break last year. He, Melton and Moody are young, too. Didn’t bother to mention Moody because he’ll likely be out all year I’d imagine.
Everyone wants to act like the whole roster is old and washed, and that’s simply not the case imo. Steph and Dray are old - Lebron is even older, but otherwise the team has some nice young pieces - the type of players you *need* to have to field a competetive roster.
I think we’re out of the running regardless, since LeBron seems intent on requiring the Warriors to trade for AD, and the Wizards have put the price tag at insane levels for a guy who’s essentially a glass cannon.
Jimmy is coming back here in this scenario and we will win with Jimmy taking Alonzo Mourning role for his 06 chip
It’s just plain delusion. Imagine saying winning another title isn’t gonna change anything
Everyone here is hating like they wouldnt be creaming at the first steph to lebron lob
And then go back to hating after a first round exit
can you imagine Lebron as the post-passer in a split action involving Steph. even at their current ages that’d be glorious basketball
I got to see them on Team USA. I’m good seeing that in the NBA tbh.
Maybe if this was like 2018, it’s 2026 now big dog
raise the floor? doesn’t sound like a contender
doesn’t sound like a contender
A Lakers fan saying this is so funny to me lmao
You can’t say this flairless bro
Flair up wussy
Lakers were contenders last year if they stayed healthy
So are we if Jimmy were healthy
Record was pretty poor when Jimmy got injured
TIL 24-19 is poor. Besides that is to be expected with that roster. Come playoff with Jimmy healthy we are a threat to anybody.
Warriors were the 8th or 9th seed I think? That’s what I meant. Not like you guys were a regular season juggernaut.
I’m a big Jimmy Butler fan so I was rooting yall would be a little better.
That is my point. We’re not a regular season juggernaut. But when playoff came, with Jimmy healthy we are a threat to anybody.
Their floor was being a play-in team, so they go from that to contender.
That was absolutely not their floor
Yeah, raise the floor seems like a weird pitch to make.
LeBrom wants somewhere he can raise the ceiling.
There are no contenders as far as team LeBron is actually considering. Unless you really believe in the idea of a healthy Joel.
Cleveland made it the ECF, and is the one people think he’s gonna join.
I mean I don’t believe in Cleveland even with Lebron but that’s just me.
Eh, swap out Mr. Choke Harden for LeBron and they at least make the Finals. Can even keep them both just bench harden during the final I minutes of every playoff game lol.
You at least want a floor general on the floor at all times; just rotate units and let them both get rest since the reason why Harden dropped off was the coach playing him the most minutes for 2 full series straight.
if you are gonna discount the results of last season, then what are we talking about?
There is nothing to discount. I didn’t believe in DMitch as the best player on a championship team. I didn’t believe in Mobley making that jump he is projected to make every year and I didn’t believe in their bench depth. And this year I still don’t.
cleveland wouldnt be contenders even with lebron
they proved themselves last season
maybe we watched two different basketball teams last season
were they in the ECF or not? That matters more than your eye test
so when boston made the ecf in 2018 they were contenders because they made the ecf? got it.
yeah. the playoff results matter most to me.
They were and they got waxed, it wasn’t even close either
Draymond said a similar thing on his pod and I’m paraphrasing, but he said you can make the finals and be nowhere close to being a championship team. This is sort of an example of that.
The way we segment such a small amount of teams into being in some fictional contender status is absolutely useless as well. It’s what led to the Knicks being underestimated. My point is that the Cavs got a case. Everything is theoretical at this point. For wll we know, Haliburton could be their kryptonite again. Or he could be cooked physically.
Without the presence of real games and tape, at the very least we have to use the real data: records standing and playoffs finish. Or we are really debating nothing.
Harden immediately makes them a non contender. They need someone in his place that doesn’t destroy every defensive possession. Him and Mitchell do the same thing on offense anyway.
Still don’t think last year’s Knicks are contenders. Brunson and KAT aren’t enough I’m telling you.
Wait, what? Some wrestling goblin with a catchphrase cursed the other team? Is this some Leicester City 2016 Harambe bollocks again?
The Timberwolves would actually be a strong contender with LeBron, but I’m not really sure if he wants to go there.
I haven’t seen any team in actual consideration besides GSW, Cleveland, Miami and 76ers. If Timberwolves are actually a possibility then my opinion would change.
Shams and Rich (Lebron’s agent) said Wolves are on the board with those other 4
I’m not expecting him to come here though lol but the basketball fit is great
Nah dude, you misunderstand. They need an extra set of hands to help put the court on a raised platform, one that would put Cleveland to shame.
Ant and Melo: Do you want to play a parental role? We can make Father’s Day Great Again.
Found that one reporters alt
This is hilarious ngl
Honestly for a while there I was wondering if he was a high functioning alcoholic
Welcome to the Steph Curry Team Where You Can Play Basketball Good and Be Around Other People Who Know How To Play Good Too
He forgot to mention the wine and food in Napa ;)
The golf is really the only selling point there.
LOL where do you live? Minnesota?
Bay Area definitely shits on it
Sorry Minnesota crushes the Bay area
Minnesota crushes the Bay Area in what?
Prince landmarks? Absolutely. And they’re awesome. Cheese curds? Agreed. Flatness? Minnesota is indeed flat. Opportunities to wear snow gear? You’ve got us there.
But like … temperate climate? Staggering natural beauty? Abundant jobs & opportunity? Sea lions?
These places don’t seem 100% comparable to me.
Affordability, lakes, quality of life, healthcare (#1 hospital in the country here too), tons of jobs here as well
Both places are cool but I was responded to that person who says the Bay Area crushes MN and MN is shitty. That’s not true
Lol as someone that moved back from the bay area to MN, you could never convince me to move back. I’m taking the cold weather 10⁄10 times. The quality of life is just 100x better for a normal person. For someone like LeBron, I’m sure it’s a completely different story.
not even close. you wish you can live in the bay area, let alone california.
minnesota is a dump
I’ve lived in both places and I got out of the Bay Area as fast as I could. Insanely overpriced. MN is #1 in quality of life metrics, it is known
I’ve lived in both places too. Minnesota is no different than many states in the Midwest. It’s not exceptional in any way. The Bay Area doesn’t exist anywhere else in the country.
Tons of lakes, excellent healthcare, all 4 sports, unique food scene and the only state with indigenous restaurants, affordable, literally ranked #1 US state in quality of life metrics, best hospital in the country etc. etc.
So you can’t afford to live in the Bay, that’s why you bounced to shitty Minnesota? got it.
You sound super ignorant if you just call MN shitty 😂 Wonder if you’ve actually ever been there
def have been there. i have an office there where i got couple times a year. huge pass.
must have struck a nerve
replying to a post on the internet means youre totally triggered bro
You triggered me
My secret is I’m just triggered all the time
Bro saw red immediately
is that true… with the property values around the bay area is there that much golfing?
Bay Area golf is mostly pure trash, particularly compared to SoCal. The courses are jam packed on the weekends and the maintenance is spotty.
You pretty much have to golf midweek to avoid 5+ hour rounds.
Been to one course in the Bay and it was alright. Been living in Sac the last 6 years and the courses here are pretty dope and not too pricey either.
Sac is not the bay
I am aware of this. Lived in the east bay for 27 years and moved out in 2020. He was comparing them to so cal and I am saying that you could just go up to Sac where it’s better.
Haven’t they, like, held the US Open at the Olympic Club (in the city of sf) several times?
And Cypress Point / Pebble Beach are pretty close.
I don’t play and I don’t doubt that there are better “normal people” golf clubs in LA. But I’d be hesitant to call the Bay Area trash (in terms of bonkers rich people golf)
The really nice courses are elite. Everything else is just beat to death.
Minnesota is very beautiful, obviously the winters can be harsh but that’s part of nature
Not everyone wants to live in the big cities, especially nowadays where cost of living is insane, homelessness drugs and crime are rampant
what do “big cities” have to do with anything? half of minnesota’s population is in the minneapolis st paul metro area.
That guy said Bay Area which is a large metro area shits on Minnesota, a state
Are you lost on the context or poor reading comprehension?
He has a point about the shit since San Francisco is known for having poop on the streets and having actual poop monitoring apps
And yet our downtown is still cleaner than Minneapolis 10x over
That’s a good joke considering the waves of homeless and drugs littering your downtown
A lot of athletes in the Bay Area live in giant houses in the East Bay.
He can be the number 2 option. Apparently, he didn’t like his role as a 3rd option. TBH, Curry would probably let him be the first option.
He said he wants to be the third scoring option on his next team
Surf, hike, mtb, etc.
If I had their money and liked golf, meadow club every day
If steph’s trying to win he ought to ask gsw to waive him and then go play for the min elsewhere
Aka play with the uncs and lose to either the thunder or spurs getting run off the floor
Warriors about to open a “training facility” in Carmel by the Sea
Pebble Beach, LeBron. Pebble fucking Beach
Cypress Point, Cal Club, SFGC, Olympic…golf is legit insane up here.
Steph and LeBron and Dray should just go to Cleveland and right the KD wrongs
Push comes to shove, LeBron’s going to pick Curry over all these teams.
Both Steph and Lebron have won titles for the team that drafted them as the undisputed best player. This will never be compared to KD
Nobody asked
And get spanked in the NBA Play-In Tournament, come on LeBron you know you want some.
Just go back to Cleveland. It’s home and they are actually better. The GSW haven’t been playing good basketball for years.
Put that in a voice memo
But that team is ass
Great strategy tbh
Honestly this would be the us olympic team reunited
get that tech $$ bron
real housewifes vibes in the league
LeCurry showing up late to a game in golf attire is going to be peak
That’s a good pitch though.
B-but what about Bronny?
He has a great soul btw.
So basically his only pitch is ‘good golf in the Bay’ lol
Raise our floor? Man isn’t a salesman for a reason lol. Someone like LeBron wants to hear that he’s raising the ceiling, not the floor
“The pitch is: Do you want to play good basketball
Good basketball on the current Warriors? 🤣🤣🤣
and be around people who know how to play the game?
Be around 15ppg Podz and washed Turnover-leader Draymond? 🤣🤣🤣
There’s good golf in the Bay
There’s good golf anywhere you are rich
I think the Warriors pitch should be to finally getting to play with Curry and promising they’ll make other roster additions.
Compared to the 76ers, Heat, and Cavaliers I don’t think the Warriors roster compares though.
•LeBron next to Maxey, Brown, Embiid, and Edgecomb would make Philly a title contender.
•The Heat he would have Giannis and Bam next to him. They might not have as much depth but they have Spoelstra and he gets the best out of any player.
•The Cavs are probably his option because it’s another story moment returning home and finishing his career there. Also the Cavs have a decent roster and if they were to make Mobley and Allen available for trade for a better win now piece they could make a run in the playoffs.
The cavs won 60 games two years ago and went to the conference finals last year. Allen and Mobley are won now pieces. They also fit incredibly well with lebron
“Raise our floor” is really not a very compelling phrase to use in the pitch.
There’s about 2 or 3 teams where LeBron is competitive next year. Doubt he’ll truly commit to being potentially a bench player in a small market while trying to film his Last Dance knock off
I’ll be honest, that’s not a great pitch
These fuckers need to just retire already. They’re talking about golf
How are you gonna tell a player that averaged 27 at 38 years old and a 41 year old that averaged 23/7/7 in the playoffs to retire? They still got it
LeBron getting passed around like yo mama
If LeBron wants to end the debate, he goes to The Warriors
If he wants to do the crybaby Unc route, he goes to Cleveland
Simple as that
Remember when Pat Riley got fined for saying “I’ll give lebron a key to miami if he ever wants to come back”
Bron is a FA now so it’s not “tampering”
It’s a great plan.
If everyone were 5 years younger and less injury-prone.
Does anyone believe Steph is going to make it without major injury through an entire regular season and playoffs through the NBA Finals?
Seriously, can someone say the quiet part out loud. The real problem is Steph. Steph’s done for lasting an entire season. Father Time won.
There’s also human turds in the street
Not where Steph lives
