Paul George is a much better fit for the offense Boston wants to run than Jaylen is, on top of the fact George shit on Jaylen on one on in the series. Obviously availability is a big concern, but Boston doesn’t need him to play in the regular season at all. He’ll be managed heavily.

Also the Clippers pick in particular is a great asset, that’s gonna be a lotto pick.

I think people get too caught up in the amount of picks. I’d rather Clippers 28 and Philly 31 than four 1sts from the Spurs or Lakers for example.

Also trading him to the Sixers isn’t really a worry as I genuinely don’t think he’s going to make them better. He’s going to do the same thing to their offense as he did to ours. If he just stands in the corner and takes open shots and attacks closeouts he’ll be unreal, but he won’t do that. He wants the ball in his hands and once it’s there he’s shooting whether it’s a good look or not.

Let the Paul George contract expire vs. JB who is on the hook for longer, and would be looking for an extension we wouldn’t be willing to give which would cause heaps of issues down the line.

The idea is to find value in players, pieces that fit together, build through young talent in the draft supporting the superstar offensive engine that you do give the max to, and build out depth. That gives you a multiyear window.

The only real way teams are going to be winning in the current CBA is to have players making less than they’re worth realistically. It’s why teams like OKC succeeded, why the Spurs are succeeding, the Knicks, etc. OKC had a multiyear window that is about to close, maybe already has. The Spurs are in the middle of theirs. The Knicks are in a more unique situation because Brunson took a home town discount, will be interesting to see how that develops.

The other way is to say fuck the multiyear window and go all in when you think you truly have a championship roster. But landing those pieces and getting in that situation is harder, it’s more rare. The Celtics when they won it didn’t go fully all in until the second year. Ownership knew they were selling, loaded up on contracts they knew they weren’t going to be on the hook for(KP, Jrue, and DWhite specifically), and tried to make one last run at it. I imagine if JT didn’t get hurt we would have given it a second shot instead of dumping Jrue and KP to get under the second apron, but maybe not with the failure against the Knicks.

But that team was getting broken up way sooner than you would see with teams that hit on some young talent.

That being said, the current team is just straight up better than last year, no reason to think otherwise. We have a fully healthy JT coming back replacing a fully healthy JB. That’s an upgrade alone. Add on top of that PG, and in theory we should be a better team. I genuinely think we will, PG has been in situations where he’s more of a role player and has to mix up his playstyle, and if he has to be 3 and D he will which will fit way better with what we do, and JT will have full offensive control instead of having to be 1A to an inferior 1B. I think Paul George fits more naturally with Tatum’s playstyle since he doesn’t need to be ball dominant, and doesn’t consider himself that top player anymore.

I think they made it work but the talent became detrimental, JB imo just wasnt going to take a backseat again

Well if you watched a single second of those last four games, you’d know that the second best player you referenced played a big part in “getting our ass beat” in a series that went 7 games

I mean the Sixers beat their ass largely because George was miles better than Brown

wouldnt go that far but I think he can makeup for like 52% of Jaylens offensive production
